Another successful year in Digi-Tech of
children developing their coding skills,
raising awareness of online safety issues
and partaking in enrichment activities
including a KS3 STEM Girls' workshop
and a KS3 Robotics workshop on a trip to

Legoland.
As part of the UK Bebras Computational
Thinking competition, pupils in the Senior
School completed activities and on Safer
Internet Day, the children used Flipgrid to
demonstrate their understanding of the

impact of social media.

Languages

"You live a new life for every new language you
speak. If you know only one language, you live only

once."

Czech proverb

Our KS linguists have been busy this year whether learning
in class or online! We work hard but we also play hard and
what fun it was to dress up in our favourite flag colours for
our Languages' week! Taking part in language competitions,

practising Chinese calligraphy, participating in a French
spelling bee, learning how to dance salsa, making Sapa Inca

hats were just a few of the highlights of this year!

暑假愉快Have a good holiday! Bonnes vacances! ¡Que lo paséis bien!
Buone vacanze! Shǔjià yúkuài

Life Skills

Life Skills helps students to develop their understanding of what it
means to be a global citizen living in the wider world, managing health

and well-being and relationships. As we come out of another tough
year that included covid restrictions we are thankful for all the well-

being tips and support!

Our Role in Nature
We need to save the earth,
It’s the place where we give birth!
But we’re poisoning her with plastic,
The change is very drastic.

The earth is our soul,
And we need to take up a role.

If we keep going the earth will die,
And we’ll have to say goodbye.
Nature needs our help,
or she will start to yelp.
Now if we all bail,
We will fail.
I want to plea
for you to listen to me!

Science

This year the children have continued to build
their curiosity and wonder for the world,

through experimentation in our state of the art
labs and in their own homes! Although
lockdowns have been tough, they have

helped the children to realise that there is
opportunity to explore and question all
around them. Keep Experimenting KS!

Clubs may have not been the same this year but the children had
an incredible time & achieved so much! Our dedicated KS Staff
started off the year by running fun & educational clubs in year
group bubbles: History, Drama, Art, Dance, Puzzler, Current Affairs,
Fitness etc. Our external providers also offered some exciting
clubs online: Animation, Chess, Coding and LAMDA! During the
October Half Term, we were fortunate enough to be able to run
our annual Key Skills Week where the children had the opportunity
to experience something new and find out how interesting, active
and amazing they are. And over the Christmas break Miss Fran
organised a fun festive activity programme which included sports,
arts & crafts, dance, cooking, singing, games & activities etc.

For the Spring Term we were back online with lots of new &
interesting clubs for the children to participate in such as Song
writing, Karate, Photography, Yoga, Film Making, Book Club,
Investment Club etc. Over the Half term break Miss Fran organised
a 'Landmark Scavenger hunt' which was a great way for the children
to learn about various landmarks, monuments, statues, and blue
plaques, research them and then find them! Once they found the
landmark they took a photo and sent it to Miss Fran - they received
a super for every one found! Over the Easter break Miss Fran had
over 100 children for her Easter activity programme where the
children enjoyed Sports at Battersea Park, Gardening, Charity
activities, Dancing, Drama, Arts & Crafts, Easter egg painting,

Quizzes etc.

Back at school for the Summer Term the children have continued
to enjoy various clubs and activities with KS welcoming back
various external providers on site!

As this strange, but memorable year draws to a close, we are proud to reflect back on
what has been another brilliant effort of fundraising here at KS.

We have been regularly blown away by the kindness and generosity of this extraordinary
community, which we are so fortunate to be part of.

Our main goals as charities coordinators are to inspire the children, empower them to
connect emotionally with our different charities and to see first hand how the money they

raise helps those less fortunate.

Due to COVID, we couldn’t host as many events as we would have liked. But with that said,
whatever the event or the request, the parents and - most importantly - the children always
came through. Personal highlights for us have been the virtual John o’Groats to Lands End

challenge, plus the Wildlife Art Competition.

At the time of writing, we have raised an unbelievable £13,500 for our selected charities
(Tusk, Plan Z Heroes and The Harrow Club), who we would like to thank for being so
supportive and helpful through the entire year.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to the following: Ryan Marie, Mayaan and the
KSPA for all of their wonderful help. Erica Goudy and Miss Sarah for setting up our

relationship with Heathbrook Primary. Osian for organising the brilliant football kit collection.
The teachers of KS for all of their amazing input. And finally, the parents and the students

for your unwavering support and incredible generosity.

Have a wonderful summer and thank you again.

The KSPA Committee had another busy year! We found new and creative ways to connect with
each other and with our community, and we reimagined many of our regular traditions into a

more socially-distanced format. Our class reps have continued to be the vital ingredient to our
success as a Parent’s Association. They are responsible for growing our community by holding
(virtual) coffee mornings, welcoming new families, attending KSPA meetings, keeping parents

informed, planning social events and appreciating our teachers. Superstars!

Our specialists have been equally busy! Our Kitchen Committee welcomed Chef Fernando, our
Sports Committee resumed our Parent’s Sports Programme this spring, and the Eco Committee

was active throughout the year by advising the school and the committee on eco-friendly
practices and providing resources and collections for uniform, sports kit, and the like. Our
Literacy Committee have promoted a love of reading by holding a well-supported online book
fair in the autumn, and a Literacy Festival complete with cupcakes and a secondhand charity
book sale in the summer. We formally rolled out a Teacher Appreciation initiative which
included a steady stream of treats and goodies throughout the year, as well as concerted effort
by parents to communicate positive teacher feedback, which culminated in a termly prize draw!
Our Knowledge Society moved online this year which proved tremendously successful and
parents were educated by top experts in, among other things, sleep, nutrition, online safety and

resilience. Amazing!

Christmas is always a busy time of year, and the lockdowns did not stop our parents from
bringing the magic of the season to KS. Our teachers took on the holiday decorating inside the
school whilst parent “elves” decorated the exterior. Our Christmas Craft Fair tradition evolved

into a full day of Christmas excitements inside the classrooms, including a virtual visit from
Father Christmas, snowball fights in the hallways and hot chocolate and doughnuts galore! We

were thrilled to debut the KS Community Cookbook, a collaboration by teachers, staff and
parents (past and present) which was illustrated by KS children, and which raised money for

Place 2 Be, Royal Hospital Chelsea, the KSEF and the KSPA.

We have supported the school’s nominated charities by holding our Halloween Trick-or-Treat
sale and dress-up day, by selling House-themed spirit packs for Sports Day, and by holding end

of year charity discos. We have nourished our relationship with Royal Hospital Chelsea by
sending Christmas cards and Valentine’s to the Chelsea Pensioners, and we have grown our
friendship with Ashburnham Primary by introducing them to Place2Be and by bringing the magic

of our annual Christmas Fair to their school.

The highlight of the year was the KS Got Talent Show which was combined with our annual
fundraiser. We celebrated the talented children of
KS with a t-shirt day for everyone, treat hampers, a
silent auction and, of course - the outrageously
entertaining finale viewing party.

A huge thanks to our committee this year -
I am proud of all that we have

accomplished together for our school.

Wishing you a healthy and happy
summer,

Ryan Marie Brooks
