8.Stool on Pedestal
Drawing from the ceremonial artifacts of the Qianlong period of Qing dynasty, the stool merges the silhouettes of porcelain censers and royal chalices into a contemporary archaic form. The stool is a satire piece that plays with the notion of small articles from royal ceremonies scaled to absurd proportions and to be used as a stool or pedestal. The stool itself is made from a singular block of Kindness Wood carved to reveal the various sides and patterns – viewpoints, cuts and curvatures.
