As a family’s income increases, their exposure to violence, poverty, and the likelihood of incarceration decreases. Our programs drive the job and wealth creation essential to thriving underserved communities. WRMSDC was founded on September 9, 1977, almost 10 years after the Civil Rights Movement that sparked national awareness about racial discrimination and segregation in the United States. Galvanized by the unequal treatment of minority-owned businesses, we began serving as advocates for impacted minority communities.Our parent organization, the National Minority Supplier Development Council, advances business opportunities for certified MBEs and connects them to 1,450 Corporate Members throughout the network, including America’s top public and privately owned companies as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions.
