2021 WRMSDC Expo Digital Guide

2021 WRMSDC Expo Digital Guide

We Need Each Other!

Once in a lifetime, if we are fortunate, we get the chance to be part of something truly special.
We have the opportunity to reject racism and make truth, justice, and equality a reality for future
generations.
The best way to make sure children have access to food, safety, and education is to ensure that
parents and caregivers have good jobs. As a family’s income increases, their exposure to violence,
poverty, and the likelihood of incarceration decreases. WRMSDC’s programs drive the job and
wealth creation essential to thriving underserved communities. Not only does our work benefit
people of color, but we help all people, as underserved communities are increasing in numbers
and are motivated to become a greater part of our professional labor force, consumer base, and
tax base. They will inevitably benefit all Americans by creating consistent growth. We must always
remember:

• 2 in 3 Americans work for firms with less than 500 employees
• State and federal governments rely on payroll and payroll-related taxes for >70% of revenue for

teachers, infrastructure, and first responders
Minority- and woman-owned firms fuel the job growth that can keep America’s economy strong.
Thank you for all that you do to support WRMSDC and our minority-owned businesses! May you be
inspired to continue your good work and lead others to follow in your footsteps.

BACK IN TIME Multi-Industry Supplier Diversity Expo

BACK IN TIME is WRMSDC’s 43rd Annual Multi-Industry Supplier Diversity Expo. The world is Back
in Time for business and our community is ready to seize new opportunities and make connections.
Just like the Huey Lewis and the News song, our diverse suppliers didn’t bet their future on one roll
of the dice...they prepared, pivoted, and partnered during the pandemic and have emerged resilient,
ready to get back in the game. In fact, most of them never left! As for our Corporate Members, they
have been the champions supporting and advocating for communities of color and WRMSDC.
During these tough times, they rolled up their sleeves and asked, “How can we help?” BACK IN
TIME will bring together our community leaders and champions in an event series focused on
growth, opportunities, and connections for all. Join us for matchmaking, mentoring, category rooms,
plenary activities, and networking - we promise we’ll have you back in time...

About WRMSDC

WESTERN REGIONAL MINORITY SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
The best way to make sure children have access to food, safety, and education
is to ensure that parents and caregivers have good jobs. As a family’s income
increases, their exposure to violence, poverty, and the likelihood of incarceration
decreases. Our programs drive the job and wealth creation essential to thriving
underserved communities. Please consider donating to WRMSDC.
Every dollar matters!
MISSION
We support the growth and welfare of minority communities by championing the
use of minority-owned businesses in Northern California, Nevada, and Hawai‘i.
HISTORY
WRMSDC was founded on September 9, 1977, almost 10 years after the Civil
Rights Movement that sparked national awareness about racial discrimination
and segregation in the United States. Galvanized by the unequal treatment
of minority-owned businesses, we began serving as advocates for impacted
minority communities.
Our parent organization, the National Minority Supplier Development Council,
advances business opportunities for certified MBEs and connects them to 1,450
Corporate Members throughout the network, including America’s top public and
privately owned companies as well as universities, hospitals and other buying
institutions. Regional Affiliates like WRMSDC certify and match more than 12,000
MBEs with member corporations that want to purchase their products, services,
and solutions.

The Ambassador Award Mario Stadtlander, Eagle Promotions

Mario Stadtlander began his entrepreneurial journey early in life by printing local merchandise in the back of his
parents' motorcycle shop in Las Vegas. The company grew and evolved over time to encompass all types of branded
merchandise. In 2001, he merged with Sean Ono, his current business partner. They set out to grow their business by
focusing on mid-level to Fortune 500 clients. This focus has produced opportunities to work with businesses such as
Disney, Coca-Cola, MLB, Hard Rock, and more. Eagle Promotions has become a global company and is one of the top
40 of over 30,000 branded merchandise companies.

Top Three Values: Integrity, Honesty, and Optimism
Legacy: To inspire others to achieve their full potential
Challenges Faced: At Eagle Promotions, we’ve been challenged with events such as 9/11, the 2007-2010 economic downturn, and the
COVID pandemic. Our financial strength, resilience, and our team's ability to adapt has made Eagle Promotions a stronger company that can
weather different challenges.
Fun Fact: Raced motorcycles (pro level), jet skis, mountain bikes, and 4 wheelers

The Collaborator Award Cisco

When Cisco sees injustice - whether affecting everyone or specific groups - we act boldly, bravely and deliberately to
make change, remove barriers and support communities. We believe in Culture of Coalescence - fostering a culture
that is beneficial to all. In moments when we see an opportunity to unite the whole, we will coalesce our people and our
resources to take action to drive meaningful change. We will encourage our employees, suppliers, communities, and
partners to join us in working alongside diverse communities. We are addressing injustice and inequality by connecting
people through technology, investing in underserved communities, taking action in support of social justice. Goal:
Positively impact 1 billion people through our social impact grants and signature programs by 2025 Our progress: On
track! As of FY20, we have positively impacted 527 million people through our social impact grants and signature programs.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/about/social-justice.html

Top Three Values:
- Cisco powering an Inclusive Future for All. Our vision is to help ensure that everyone has equitable access to opportunity. We believe we
have a responsibility to help make that happen.
- At Cisco, we see inclusion as a bridge—a way to connect diverse perspectives. To spark new ideas, explore new possibilities, tap into the
power of digital transformation, and inspire innovation.
- Cisco’s commitment to diversity is a core part of our culture. We demonstrate our commitment to supplier diversity through our ongoing
efforts to recruit and develop diverse businesses, and provide them with access to opportunities.
Legacy: Our crown jewel of Collaboration is our Diverse Supplier Sponsorship Program. Over the last 4 years, we have graduated 40 diverse
suppliers – most of them MBEs in the US. This effort pairs selected diverse suppliers with a Cisco executive for an 18-month program
involving 1:1 meetings with their sponsor, individual coaching, introductions inside and outside of Cisco, and monthly curriculum sessions on
a variety of Cisco and industry topics. It is a program designed to pull back the curtain for suppliers who have traditionally been on the
outside looking in. The Sponsorship Program is a key tool for focused diverse supplier development. Participants receive customer
satisfaction, opportunity performance, and supplier risk feedback. The net result is tangible increased customer satisfaction scores,
improved opportunity response and win rates, and decreased risk. Over the life of the programs more than half the participants increased
the spend from Cisco. At program's end, we recognize suppliers that excel in customer satisfaction, business growth, and overall
performance in the program. We also recognize the best sponsors who actively engage with the supplier and our team, and actively advocate
for their supplier. One Cisco sponsor was recently quoted as saying “this program is ahead of its time.”
Company Profile: Our Supplier Diversity program is forward-looking – we continue to push the needle forward with:
• We make ongoing effort to both solicit and share best practices and industry benchmarks
• Global Procurement Services owning one of Cisco’s key Social Justice Actions
• Expanding our Supplier Diversity and Sponsorship programs outside the US – to India and the UK
