 10 Jumping Jacks

Instructions: Students stand in a circle and try to
count to 10. There will be no set order or time for
calling out the numbers. Anyone can call out the
next number, but it cannot be the person standing
next to you. If two or more people say the number
at the same time, the group must start over.

Objective: Count to 10 without messing up and
speaking when someone else is speaking

Equipment: None

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: Students stand in a circle and the
leader picks a category. Every player must then go
down the line and say something that relates to
the category but cannot repeat what has already
been said.

Objective: Keep the category going without
repeating another player.

Equipment: None

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: The person standing in the center of the circle
calls out :"Fire on the mountain, run, run, run.“ The
students in the outer circle turn and run around the
circle. When the person standing in the center says :"Fire
is out", all runners try to find partners based on the
number the circle calls out.

Objective: The one who does not find a partner becomes
the center caller.

Equipment: None

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 8 minutes

Instructions: The class will split up into two groups and
get in a line. The first person of each line will be facing
each other and then they will both pick a number
between 1 and 10 to see who will go first. Both players
will places both hands together as if they are praying
and rub them together. The person who is first then
points in a certain direction.

Objective: For the opposing team to resist from looking in
the direction the other player is pointing at. The team
with the last person or most people standing wins the
game.

Equipment: None

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: The “doggy” sat in the middle and closed his
or her eyes. Then, I pointed at a child in the circle to
quietly “steal” the bone. Once the bone is hidden,
everyone chanted, “Doggy, Doggy, where’s your
bone? Someone stole it from your home!” The doggy
then opened their eyes, and they have three guesses to
guess who stole the bone!

Objective: For the person in the center to guess who has
the bone in three tries.

Equipment: Fake bone

Key Skills: Listening and context clues (facial expression,
body language)

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 10 minutes

Instructions: One person is “it.” Whenever someone is
tagged by “it” they must hold a band aid (their hand) on
the spot where they were tagged. Then the game
continues. When someone runs out of band aids, (they
get tagged two times), they are frozen until someone
come over to them and “operate.”

Objective: For all players to remain in the game and help
other player when “frozen”

Equipment: None

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions:

 Select one player to wear a blindfold and they are to be placed into the center of
the room.

 Once the player is blindfolded and in position, the other players must stand in one
of the four corners.
They must do this very quietly (no talking allowed) and within 10 seconds.

 If a player is not in a corner by the time your done counting, that player is out of
the game.

 The player that is blindfolded will point to one of the corners and all the players in
that corner will be out of the game.

 To be fair you cannot go to one corner, make noises and then quickly move to
another corner.

 If no one is in a selected corner, the players have 5 seconds to get to another
corner before a new corner is selected.

Objective: For the person in the center to get all the players out.
Equipment: Blindfold

Space Requirement: Full or Half court
Time Requirement: 10 minutes

Instructions: Students must stand in circle and grab hands.
One student starts with the hula hoop and students must
try to get the hula hoop around the circle, over each
student's body without letting go of each others hands.

Objective: Get the hula hoop successfully around the circle
without letting each other’s hand go.

Equipment: Hula hoop

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: The students will be told to line up
according to their birthday. Only catch: no
talking. They can’t use words, only body and
hands to communicate.

Objective: Get in line according to birthday
without speaking.

Equipment: None

Key Skills: Cooperation and teamwork. Non
verbal communication.

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions:

 The word or phrase can only be whispered once, so
players must pay close attention.

 The word or phrase should never be a too familiar; you
want to make sure it changes as it is whispered.

 Only one player – the first – should know what the word
or phrase is. The facilitator of the game may wish to
have the original phrase or word written down.

Objective: Keep the message going without someone
changing what was said.

Equipment: None

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: Students will be divided into four teams and
the first two “racing” teams must sit down in a line with
their knees bent and keep a hold of the ankles of the
person behind them. Mark a finish line and once the
whistle is blown, teams must scoot along, without letting
go of the ankles of the person behind them, scooting
forward and inching along like a caterpillar until they
reach the finish line.

Objective: Make it to the finish line before the opposing
team.

Equipment: None

Key Skills: Cooperation, Speed and Teamwork.

Space Requirement: Half court

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes

Instructions: Split the group up into teams of two people that

will stand on one side of the gymnasium. Each team will have
one person go into plank position while the other grabs them
by the ankles. When you say “Go” the person in plank
position will go into pushup position while the person holding
their ankles lifts them, forming a wheelbarrow. They will
attempt to walk the wheelbarrow to the other side of the
room. Once there, they will touch the wall and switch roles
before racing back. The first team back to the starting point
wins.

Objective: Make it to the finish line before the opposing
team and without falling out of wheelbarrow position.

Equipment: None

Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes
