PRINCIPLE IN
TEACHING

Change, choice, and values are the three
pillars of life, according to Stephen Covey.
The only way to live and flourish in this rapidly
changing environment is to adapt and take
the appropriate actions. Every action and
decision we make is governed by one or more
guiding principles. It takes certain abilities,

expertise, methods, and dedication to teach
others new things. The two most vital teaching

tenets are to be enthusiastic about the
subject and to aid in students' knowledge
acquisition. It should be all about inspiring in
the pupils a real passion of learning, as well
as curiosity, knowledge, and experience.

REFLECTION OF
MICROTEACHING

WHAT IS MICROTEACHING?

Microteaching is a method of teacher
preparation that enables student
teachers to polish their teaching

approaches in a moderate, simulated
classroom setting. The technique was

created by Dwight Allen and his
colleagues at Stanford University in
the late 1950s and early 1960s. It is

also used to retrain or polish the
abilities of working teachers.

Firstly, I would like to thank Madam Nirmala for
teaching the subject EED21604 Microteaching, it
was a wonderful jouney throughout the semester. I
have learned and managed to complete a lot of
things during the semester. It was a blast in the

classroom, learning each topics peculiarly has
helped me to understands more and help me to
become a better educator. Thank you Madam
Nirmala for providing me limitless guidance and

advice throughout the span of my voyage.

INTRODUCTION TO
MICROTEACHING

The day's lesson was introduced by
Madam Nirmala by outlining our
Scheme of Work (SOW) for this course
and our impending microteaching
session, which is the most crucial
component of this subject.

TOPIC 1: TEACHING
AND MICROTEACHING

KBSM AND KSSM + CEFR
SYLLABUS 21ST CENTURY

LEARNING

Madam Nirmala gave an explanation of the changes
to the KBSM and KSSM curricula as well as the
English CEFR. These adjustments were made to
provide pupils a second chance to attempt their best
and to provide continuing evaluation. Next, we
discussed the DSKP and the day's lesson plan.

Afterwards, Madam Nirmala went into more detail
about the lesson plan template. The sub skills should
receive less time (25 minutes) than the focused skills
(45 minutes) (15 minutes). Different targets must be
set for differentiated instruction for students of
diverse ability in order to accomplish the goals.

Learning lesson plan was my favorite thing through
the semester. I am able to fully understand on how
does lesson plan work and know how to operate a
lesson plan. Madam Nirmala give out the lesson plan
template and explained it with detailed information
for us to be able to understand. I am so ready to
create more lesson plan during my practicum.

TOPIC 1: TEACHING
AND MICROTEACHING

I learned the crucial concepts from the
textbook. Themes, subjects, primary and
secondary skills that are the emphasis
skills, the language or grammatical focus,

etc. are a few examples. However, I
continued in learning that if the class is
conducted for two hours, the learning
standards can have principally two skills,
but if the class is held for one hour, it is
preferable to have one major skill and one

complimentary skill.

OBJECTIVES

ROLES OF LO'S IN LESSON
PLAN

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Prepare and intend to achieve.

LEARNING OUTCOME
Ensure students can complete

the tasks

Using the SMART method, we set precise and
quantifiable objectives to make sure our lesson plan
is acceptable. The three educational domains—
cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor—were
likewise covered by Madam Nirmala. These are
mostly utilised to assist students in maintaining
mental equilibrium while learning in the form of
thinking (HOTS), expressing emotions in a range
from the lowest to the highest, and ultimately
engaging in fine motor skills.

TOPIC 2:TEACHING
AND LEARNING
OBJECTIVES

I've discovered that knowing objective statements
beginning with A, B, C, and D—where each

alphabet stands for a distinct term, such as A for
audience, B for behaviour, C for condition, and D

for degree—is the first step in establishing
objectives. As a result, assertion B should be listed
first in the lesson plan's writing goals, followed by

statements C and D.

TUTORIAL

REFLECTION

A assignment to accomplish one of the
lesson plan's learning objectives was given
to us after the class had been performed.
My group's primary skill, which Madam
Nirmala had assigned to each group, was
speaking. Thus, we chose the Form 1 theme
of "Journey" as our direction. We choose to
finish the writing exercise by relying just on
that one ability. Considering the skill and
subject, we select activities.

TOPIC 3:
SET INDUCTION

SET INDUCTION?

To keep students' attention and
interest during the whole class,
employ an anticipatory set. The topic
for the day is familiar to the students
and may be related to through past

knowledge.

The importance for a strong first
impression of a class was discussed by

Madam Nirmala. This is important
because it will indicate how the kids will

behave and perform during the whole
session for the day. Students won't be
interested if it's dull and uninteresting,
and they may decide not to interact with
the teacher. The teacher is failing to

meet the learning objectives in the
meanwhile.

TEACHING

TEACHING AID?
Teaching aids that make a
lesson more engaging for

students.

We learned about the learning pyramid
from Madam Nirmala, who stressed the
importance of a teacher being at the
level of (teaching others) and having all

of her talents in use. The teacher
outlined what it meant to be student-

centered and have an interactive
classroom. To guarantee successful
learning, this will integrate the friendly
tone and flipped classroom learning.

MOCKTEACHING:
SET INDUCTION

For Set Induction, I had to present it
through Zoom. I choose the topic The

Savvy E-Shopper. I had a pretty
positive feedback from Madam
Nirmala and my peers. I had fun
doing the Set Induction as it is was

easy and it went smoothly.

TOPIC 4: STIMULUS
VARIATION

FACTORS THAT GET STUDENTS'

ATTENTION

Intensity: (loud teacher's voice,

competitive games with bright class

environment)

Contrast: (bring bigger teaching aids

than usual)

Movement: (move position of items in

classroom)

Audio-visual aids: (incorporate all kinds

of media)

Teacher's personal behaviour:

(enthusiastic, stimulating, energetic &

expressive.)

REFLECTION
In addition to teaching us about stimulus-
response, Madam Nirmala also taught us
how to cope with students' attitudes and
motivation in the classroom. We learnt in
this lecture how crucial it is to evaluate

classroom situations, especially those
involving pupils, since when the teacher is
bored, the students are bored as well. In

order to hold students' attention in the
classroom, a number of elements were

presented to us, such as intensity,
contrast, movement, audio-visual aids, and

teacher conduct.

TOPIC 5:
QUESTIONING
TEACHNIQUES

Today, Madam Nirmala taught us to a
strategy she uses frequently in
lessons, the questioning approach.
Students get a "tap" on the head
when questions are asked, causing
them to remember earlier
information. A Covid-19 poster was
used by Madam to explain the
question-asking technique. After
that, we spoke about what makes a
good question, such as being clear
and well-directed (call names).
extensive use of appropriate
language), stimulating the mind
(HOTS), and many others. The use of
Bloom's Taxonomy questions—lower
levels inquire about prior knowledge,
higher levels ask about thinking skills
—was then continued by the teacher.

Friday 4th Nov. 2022

TOPIC 6:
REINFORCEMENT

STRATEGIES

The class more closely focused on the case
study of reinforcement and why teachers use
it since we don't want students to behave in
the same way that teachers do. Similar to
this lecture, there were both good and bad
behaviours that the classroom should and
shouldn't reward. Since youngsters could
forget what they have done, reinforcement
should be administered as soon as possible.
Good reinforcement in the classroom, in my
experience, provides a number of benefits,
such as improved student engagement,
boosted self-esteem, and a positive learning
environment.

PROJECT 1: TASK A
EDUCATIONAL GAME

For our Project 1, Task A. We
were given to create a

educational game. We have
chosen the topics and find a
game. It was a lifesize Jenga
and we all divided the tasks
equally. We had so much during

the project.

MOCKTEACHING:
WHLE LESSON

It's the continuation of the
mockteaching, it is being held in

Zoom. I had to record it and
present it during the class.
Madam Nirmala gave a positive
feedback as my voice is clear

and slides helps them
understand better.

Friday 25th Nov. 2022

PROJECT 1: TASK B
BRIEFING

Madam Nirmala demonstrated how to utilise
the Wix app for Task B of Project 1.

Today, Madam Nirmala instructed us to use
the app and create activities based on the

topic to which we would be given; each
member of the group must complete at least

two activities based on the skills.

Friday 30th Nov. 2022

TOPIC 9: USE OF
WHITEBOARD IN

CLASSROOM

The day and learning objective should be placed
above the left of the whiteboard, the topic should
be placed above the middle, and the vocabulary
should be placed below the date on the above
right of the whiteboard, according to what
Madam Nirmala taught us about how to organise
the whiteboard. This will prevent confusion for
both the teacher and the students.
We were also advised to use more blue and black
markers rather than red ones since they are more
versatile and effective on a whiteboard. Red
markers, on the other hand, are likely used to
recognise mistakes for the pupils to see so they
may improvise. This will be a fantastic method for
organising the whiteboard so that neither the
pupils nor the teacher will be perplexed about the
lesson that day.

PROJECT 1: TASK B
BLOG

Ayuni, Ain Yasmin and I presented our Blog
presentation. We divided the tasks equally and

each do 2 skills of activty. Our topic is
Teenagers from Form 4 textbook. We managed
to complete the blog by using various type of
teaching aids such as Padlet, Kahoot, Canva,

Quizizz, and Wordwall. We created our blog
using strikingly.co. Madam gave us a very nice
feedback, saying that the pupils could easily
access the blog and that it was user-friendly.

Madam suggested that we clarify the
directions in the blog so that the students
understand what they must accomplish.

PROJECT 1

REFLECTION OF
E-PORTFOLIO

I would like to thank Madam Nirmala once
again for teaching the subject EED24601
Microteaching. It was a wonderful journey.
We were asked to create a E-Portfolio for
this subject for the semester. I had taken
many pictures during the class and learning

so much about Microteaching.

Microteaching is not just a subject but it is
also a skill that is going to help the future
teachers during the parcticum later on. I
have gained so much knowledge and skills
throughout the semester. Besides, Madam
Nirmala has given her best in teaching all of

us this subject. I had so much fun
throughout my final semester.

The E-Portfolio is one of the
best project that I had

created and participate in. It
was a great oppurtunity to be

part of this subject. Thank
you!
