the student’s handbook in collaboration with the

This Virtual Academic students hand-
book (VASH) is a guide book
related to all activities and programmes
involved in Besut Community College.
The purpose of this VASH is to
provide all of the information in one e-book that can be
shared without referring to various parties separately.

Besut Community College (KK Besut) is an educational institution under
Ministry of Higher Education (KPT). KK Besut was formed to provide an
education and training opportunities for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers.
KK Besut was formed to meet the
social needs and manpower requirements
in line with the government’s
policy to produce more skilled workers.
For the local community, college is giving

Department of Community College
under the Ministry of Education has
taken the initiative in the delivery of
education by offering Diploma in 3D
Animation with work based learning
mode. Work-based learning (WBL) is a subset of workplace learning.
Achievement of ‘planned learning outcomes’ derived from the experience of
performing a work role or function. Work-based learning, therefore, differs from conventional
education which involves conscious reflection on actual experience. That reflection on
practice offers an advantage of providing a way in which learners can be supported in
structuring their workplace experience to identify their learning from that experience.
Diploma in 3D Animation is conducted in accordance with the methods of work based
learning. Students studying for six semesters. Four semesters run in college and two
semesters run in the company. The maximum intake for each semester is about
20 students. Each student must have a Certificate of Creative Multimedia
in 2D Animation or 3D Animation with minimum CGPA 3.0. Sijil
Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holder with three credits is also accepted. All
candidates must successfully pass an interview before being offered for enrollment.

Animation is a broad-based term used to describe the visual technique that provide the
illusion of motion by displaying or capturing a collection of images in time-based
sequences. Animation also used to describe arts, processes, techniques, theories and
practices involved in giving apparent movement and life to inanimate
object by means of cinematography and/or the creation of fully digital,
digitally-assisted or analogue content for entertainment, education and/or training.
The field of 3D animation is extensive. Also known as 3D CGI or visual storytelling, it
is both exciting and new for both the creator as well as the audience. In recent years
as the popularity of 3D animated movied and television shows has grown, so has the
industry. Television shows like “Upin & Ipin” and “Boboiboy” are all examples of 3D animation.
In the world of animation, there are two types of animators, 2D and 3D. Essentially,
they do the same job. Both suggest new ideas, usually to a team, complete a certain
amount of research to ensure their ideas are original and engaging, then render them on
paper, or with the use of computer software. But, that’s where the similarities end. In
simplest terms, 2D animators create flat images, which have width and height but no depth.
3D animation is more realistic because of the addition of depth. Adding depth creates
more life-like characters, and it is much easier for 3D animators to make changes to scene
because they can move or transfer an object more easily, whereas, in 2D
animation, the animator must draw the scene all over again if any changes are necessary.
People who work in the field of three-dimensional (3D) animation create visual effects and
animated characters for television, video games, and other electronic media. Many
animators work in the movie and film industry. 3D animators create moving images using
digital models and add details to the pictures, such as landscapes, skin color, or clothing.
The act of animating or “giving life” is a process of giving the illusion of
movement to drawings, models, or inanimate object. Animation
production is subdivided into three major categories namely, Classical
Animation, Digital Animation, And Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) Animation.

Diploma in 3D Animation program will focus on the Digital Animation
technologies and solutions specifically related to digital multimedia creative
content. The module is designed to provide students with a solid technical
introduction to 3D Animation. This course will focus on three phase
of Animastion pipeline, from pre-production until post-production.
The Animation Pipeline is divided into three phases:-
a. Pre-Production Phase : This include creative drawing, storytelling, storyboarding
and also character and background design.
b. Production Phase : The process of modelling, texturing, animating and rendering
inanimate object.
c. Post-Production Phase : The process of editing and compositing and producing the
final animation product.
Diploma in 3D Animation offer students to work with 3D animation
software such as Autodesk Maya while Editing and
Compositing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and more.

Pendidikan Islam 1 berteraskan kepada tiga topik
iaitu sumber hukum dalam Islam, tafsir Al-Quran dan
huraian Hadis. Ia bertujuan melahirkan pelajar yang
berilmu, beramal, berbakti kepada agama dan
Negara dengan berpaksikan Al-Quran dan as sunnah.
Kursus ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendedahan
dan pengetahuan kepada pelajar tentang konsep
asas moral, proses sosialisasi dan tanggungjawab
individu dalam masyarakat dan seterusnya
dapat menyuburkan tingkahlaku bermoral dalam
keharmonian masyarakat Malaysia dan sejagat.
Kursus ini memperkenalkan perisian windows dan
aplikasi komputer kepada pelajar. Pelajar akan
pelajari asas-asas perisian aplikasi. Modul ini akan
melengkapkan pelajar dengan kemahiran yang
diperlukan dalam setiap aplikasi untuk diintegrasikan
antara satu sama lain. Pelajar juga
dapat mengembangkan kemahiran mereka
dalam penggunaan aplikasi komputer untuk
melaksanakan tugas pengurusan teknologi maklumat.

Kursus Kemahiran insaniah ini mengandungi pembelajaran
dan latihan bagi mengamalkan pembelajaran sepanjang
hayat dan kemahiran pengurusan maklumat,
mengamalkan kemahiran berfikiran dan
kemahiran komunikasi, kemahiran kepimpinan dan kerja
berpasukan serta pembangunan kerjaya.
Menerangkan sejarah bidang pilihan dan
kemahiran khusus bidang tersebut mengikut
perkembangan semasa. Keperluan/ peralatan asas,
etika, istilah-istilah, demonstrasi dan mempraktik
teknik-teknik asas bidang pilihan turut ditekankan
kepada pelajar. Pelajar akan turut serta
dalam merancang aktiviti-aktiviti yang akan
dijalankan, menerangkan kepentingan merancang
aktiviti, pembahagian tugas dan menyelia aktiviti.

This course provides theory and practice of the art
elements and principles of design. Students will identify all
elements and principles of design from artist work of art.
They will produce artwork and implement all elements and
principles of art using variety of media, techniques and style.
This course introduces the concepts of animations such as
squash and stretch, timing and weight, anticipation, slow
in slow out movementof any objects, and fully understand
anticipation, secondary action, follow through,
overlapping action, exaggeration, staging and arcs of the
main keys that needed in this course.
Storytelling principles as applied to the
demands of animation, particularly short movie. Script
is a written by script writter for a film, television
program or video game. These script can be
original works or adaptations from existing
pieces of writing. The movement, actions, expression
and dialogues of the characters are also narrated.

Pendidikan Islam 2 berteraskan kepada empat topik iaitu
konsep muamalat, konsep jenayah, konsep rukhsah solat
dan tatacara pengurusan jenazah. Ia bertujuan melahirkan
pelajar yang berilmu, beramal, berbakti kepada agama
dan negara dengan berpaksikan Al-Quran dan as Sunah.
Kursus ini bertujuan untuk memberi pengetahuan
kepada pelajar tentang isu-isu kemoralan sosial
semasa, perkembangan teknologi semasa dan etika
keprofesionalisma serta dapat menyuburkan tingkahlaku
moral dalam menghadapi pelbagai cabaran hidup.
Business English 1 helps learners to increase their
ability to use English language in business related
aspects and job application. This course equips
learners with necessary communication skills during
interview session and at workplace as well as
the proper language usage in
processes and procedures or carrying out task.

Kursus ini menerangkan tentang pengenalan dan
sejarah berkaitan sukan dan permainan pilihan
merangkumi pengetahuan asas dan kemahiran khusus
yang berkenaan. Kursus ini turut mendedahkan kepada
pelajar tentang asas pengurusan acara bagi sukan
dan permainan pilihan merangkumi perancangan
aktiviti dan pengelolaan pertandingan.
Kursus ini memperkenalkan kepada pelajar tentang
sejarah dan politik, Perlembagaan Malaysia,
Masyarakat Malaysia, sistem dan Struktur Pentadbiran
Negara, Kemasyarakatan dan Perpaduan,
Pembangunan Negara dan Agama serta
kepercayaan. Kursus ini adalah bertujuan untuk
melahirkan graduan yang mempunyai identiti kebangsaan
dan semangat patriotisme yang unggul. Pengajaran dan
pembelajaran akan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk kuliah,
tugasan, kajian lapangan dan pengalaman pembelajaran.
Students will be given knowledge and skills in
producing animatic storyboard based on
script. Storyboard is the visual version of the script.
It Consists of a number of panels that show the
visual action of a sequence in a logical narrative.

theoretical and practical aspects and the basic
concept of modeling. Students will be exposed to
the development 3D basic modeling in one scene.
Shading and texturing are critical skills when it comes
to taking a finished model and creating a polished,
realistic render of the asset. This course will teach students
to create shading and possibly apply textures to the asset.
Throughout this course, student will be gain knowledge
and exposureon the usage 3D software. The course
focuses on the application of the software to produce
animators which is substantial to the basic 3D animation.
The skills acquired from this course will also equip students
with the ability to learn and use other similar software.

ability to use English language in business related aspects.
Students will acquire on how to handle enquiries and
complaint with clients. They will be taught how to
conduct a meeting and write minutes. Students learn the

Student will be awarded a Diploma in 3D Animation when they fullfill the following criteria:
• Obtained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
of 2.00
• Passed all courses as required by the programme of study
• Fullfill all the conditions and requirements set by the college
• Approved by the Community College Examination Senate
After the final score has been finalized (inclusive of all assessments), the
grade will be categorized according to the following marking sheme:
