Orientation and Training

When you commence employment with us you will take part in a formal
Brandhearted Orientation programme designed to give you a step-by-step
introduction to the Company, your Hotel and your new role. Your orientation
programme will cover subjects such as Fire Life Safety (FLS), Human Rights,
IHG Winning Ways and the IHG brand family and much much more.

Our training programmes have been developed for all levels of Colleagues, so
please contact your Line Manager and/or the HR Team for training
programmes and courses applicable to you.

Your next step

The possibilities of promotion are excellent either within your own Hotel,
another Hotel or a different division of the Company; visit the IHG careers

Development for your current & future roles

We believe that when we provide high quality training for you, the Hotel will
achieve high quality results. We encourage you to be the best you can be, and
to be committed to professional development. Training and career
development results in job enrichment and personal growth ensures that each
colleague is better equipped to serve our guests.

Alongside orientation training you will receive on the job training where you
will be trained on how to perform your job effectively. Whatever your work
entails, you will be encouraged to master the relevant skills.

IHG encourages you to develop your skills, to make your job easier, or to take
your career to the next level. We will offer support to get you there, whichever
is your preference, we have different courses and opportunities to get you
there.

We will help you grow by:
• Personally inviting you to attend further learning and training
• Providing you access to online IHG courses
• Supporting you where required to undertake courses outside work

relevant to your role.

Of course, it doesn’t end here. You are encouraged to be actively involved in
your own personal and career development. Here are a few simple things you
could do to help with your self development:
• Use feedback from Manager to create a personal development plan
• Use new skills and knowledge as often as you can
• Ask questions, all of the time
• Always be on the lookout for new learning opportunities

Our performance approach

Our approach to performance aims to create an environment where our
people can perform at their best.

Regular conversations between Managers and their teams are essential in
creating this environment – the more often you check in, the more fluid and
honest those conversations can become.

By keeping the lines of communication open, expectations become clearer
and any concerns are addressed in real time.

How often these conversations take place is for you and your Manager to
agree – however there are a few points in the year where we are specific
around the agenda for your conversation and the outputs; your Manager will
provide you with this information.
