In Memory of CLEVELAND NISBY

Former President: Beaumont Branch NAACP Life Member: NAACP

Remember me, when I come to the setting sun;
Remember me, think of some good I‘ve done;
Remember me, my deeds count one by one;
Not just for me, but for the work that I have done.

It is so easy to forget- The works of men who‘ve
gone on but deeds live yet!
In after years whenever it may be;
Lest you forget- Oh please remember me.

We love our friends, we see them come and go;

They live, they die, they leave to come no more;

Christ doesn’t forget and then so why should we?

Now when I am gone – Oh please remember me.

July 24, 1919 - December 23, 2011

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
Then said I, “Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8

But whosoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed
by God in his deeds. James 1:25

Cleveland Nisby committed his life to unselfish service by fighting tirelessly for equity of
civil and human rights for all people. He planted seeds of freedom, justice, equality, and
Christian principles in the minds and hearts of every citizen no matter what their race,
creed or color. He fought and won many legal battles that resulted in opportunities for
many disenfranchised people. He built difficult bi-racial bridges of relationships that
others can still cross. He planted seeds of freedom, justice, equality and Christian
principles in the hearts and minds of eveery citizeen no matter their race, creed or color.
Hwe did not give up even when death threats were made on his life.
