Often we do not give ourselves enough sleep,
we become grumpy and less productive.
Exercise gives you the ability to sleep easily
allowing the body enough rest so that you
wake up feeling refreshed and renewed. When
you feel refreshed and renewed you are a lot
happier.

SUCCESSFULLY HOSTED IT’S OFFICIAL LAUNCH ON FRIDAY, APRIL THE 22ND

based in the UK, established the platform
to bring Zimbabweans who live in various
countries around the world together, with the
aim of reinforcing unity, building new and old
friendships, fostering diasporan business interest
and creating a stronger and self-sufficient nation.
The Homecoming Initiative which will now host

in Zimbabwe in 2024 has received positive
support coming from the Diaspora Desk within
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
Trade and other stakeholders is meant to
entice thousands of Zimbabweans across
the globe to visit home in the month of April
where ZimThrive will bring together both local
and diasporan Zimbabweans to host events in
tourism, entertainment, fashion, food, business
and various other sectors to take place across
the country. Mildred Munjanganja, Founder of
ZimThrive said she wanted to divert foreign
currency expenditure to the Zimbabwean
economy. “We want to go home to be
entertained by our artists, eat our local food
and buy art & crafts made by our own people
– we want to bring everyone home from the
diaspora at the same time to strengthen our
identity and to collaborate with Zimbabwean
locals to bring back the unity and prosperity of
our nation.”
A big thank you to ZIDA, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and all the agencies that have shown
positive support to and for the ZimThrive
initiative.

The Institute of Architects of TEXT TAKUNDA RUSERE & PHOTOGRAPHS H&S MAGAZINE
Zimbabwe announced the
winners of its 2022 Zimbabwe
Architectural Awards on April
8, 2022 at the Cresta Lodge-
Sango Conference Centre. The
awards honored 20 projects
that exemplify the best in contemporary
architecture and highlight the many ways
buildings and spaces can improve lives. When
selecting this year’s winners,the 23- IAZ member
jury evaluated overall design achievement,
considering a sense of place, purpose, history,
and environmental sustainability.
There were 96 entries for the 11 architecture
categories at this year’s IAZ awards, which
was sponsored by various players in the built
environment. The Lifetime Achievers award
went to renowned retired Architect George
Fleet who served over 60 years in the industry.

Architect Fleet is behind some of the notable H&SASSCENE
buildings in Harare such as Mutual Gardens,
Causeway Building, Runhare House, Anchor
House amongst others.
On the sidelines of the awards program, IAZ
president Architect Tsitsi Dzvukamanja said,
“These awards attest to our profession’s
inventiveness,imagination,beauty and multiplicity.
“Collectively, this year’s awarded works exhibit
the richness, intelligence, viscerality, complexity,
individuality and delight of which Zimbabwean
architecture is capable.” she added.
Elsewhere in the awards, Architectural Planning
Studio and Architexture Spatial Design also
took home numerous accolades in the various
categories. The Emerging Architect Award was
won by Architect Bokanibuhe Munodawafa &
Architect Hazvinei Sakupwanya for their Law
Chambers Project.
