The following was provided by the Residential Program and worked collaboratively
with the Academic Program and Student Base Health Center. Students also
take pride in the hosting the annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Academic/Residential
Banquets and Hozho Naasha events.

LIBRARY SERVICES

During school year 2016-17, the library circulated 2,282 books and 109
ebooks, an increase from 1,400 books and 27 eBooks from SY 2015-16. There
was an increase for faculty and staff library checkouts, including eBook usage.
The library served 7,847 students and 367 classes with 5,136 students in SY
2016-17.

FOOD SERVICES

The Food Service Program provides daily meals to students through the
National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult
Care Food Program and Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program. The Provision 2
status qualifies the school for breakfast and lunch reimbursement to the
National School Lunch Program and USDA. An average of 750 meals are
prepared daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Shi Masani Café which
is centrally located. The food service staff includes the Food Service Director/
Chef and 5.5 full-time kitchen employees.

Sodas and other unhealthy vending machine items are not sold to students;
rather the promotion of healthy lifestyles is stressed by serving fresh fruits and
vegetables. There is a partnership with Farm to Table to advance a healthy
school environment through procurement of healthy and traditional foods
grown by local farmers. The School Chef supports the Senior Atsá Exhibition
program by serving as mentor to interested students in the culinary field; one
of his students is a certified pastry chef and a 2017 graduate from Scottsdale
Culinary Institute of Le Cordon Bleu.

Science Olympiad (Regional) Results: School Year 2016-2017
The following Schools participated in the Regional Science Olympiad: NPS,
Piedra Vista High School, Farmington High School, San Juan College High
School, Shiprock Northwest High School, Kirtland High School and Tse Bit’ah
High School. Navajo Preparatory School won second Place in the Overall
Team competition which qualifies all our Student teams to participate
in the State Competition at New Mexico tech, Socorro, NM. This is also the
first time that NPS and our students are participating the Science Olympiad.
