O B I T U A R Y David Whitehead Moore was born May 4, 1939 to the proud parents of Percy and Mary Moore. He was their fourth child out of six children; Leroy, Richard, Louis , Andrew, and Gloria. He attended Ann Arbor public schools, graduating from Ann Arbor High School (now known as Pioneer High School). His interest in learning about welding led him to become a welder. He worked with several companies including School Texh. His marriage to Janie Teague led to the birth of two daughters, Pamela and Stephanie. After their marriage ended, he found happiness with Willie B Burk. Their relationship led to the birth of his third daughter, Sherrie. Although he did not father any additional children, he stepped in as a father to Lynn Palmer and Ronald Hight. He considered them his children too and the feeling was mutual. He was a well rounded individual who not only loved work and his family but also loved hobbies. He enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, and golfing just to name a few. His competitive spirit led him to participate in bowling tournaments, receiving many trophies and accolades. Not only was he gifted in sports, he also had a knack for fashion and grooming. Thus he opened a Hair Salon and Barber Shop, where he featured the popular “Jheri Curl”. He was baptized at an early age and later in life joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist church. He was a member of the Men’s Choir. In fact he led a popular song called “Lord You’re The Landlord” , which resulted in church members nicknaming him “The Lanlord”. His boisterous spirit attracted many different kinds of people to love him and befriend him. We would like to recognize Francis Stephens AKA Renee who’s been like an extended family member, ensuring that David in his latter years kept his dignity and independence.
