The importance of learning English for Indonesian students is to follow the world

development that put English as the primary language in communication. Nowadays, many

schools have a formal class to learn English, then those schools use English as the main


course subject. Because of that, the student should master in English skills, especially

speaking skill. The mastery of speaking skill in English is a priority for foreign language


learners. This research has two research problem. The first problem is, the speaking

activities at English Club of MTS ma'arif tembarak.

of that, the student should master in English skills, especially speaking skill. The mastery of

speaking skill in English is a priority for foreign language learners. This research has two

research problem. The first problem is, the speaking activities at English Club of Sekolah Alam

Terpadu MTs Ma'arif Tembarak.. The second is, the problems are faced by the students in

learning speaking at English Club at Sekolah Alam Terpadu MTs Ma'arif Tembarak. The

research objectives in this research are, to know the speaking learning activities at English club

of MTs Surya Buana Malang, and to know the students’ problems in learning speaking at

English Club at Sekolah Alam Terpadu MTs Ma'arif Tembarak. The method used in this

research was qualitative with the supervisor at English club of Sekolah Alam Terpadu MTS

Surya Buana Malang as the subject. The data collecting method were non-participant

observation and semi-structured interview. The instrument in this research were field notes

and interview guideline. The result of this research, there were five speaking learning activities

that exist at English Club of MTs Ma'arif Tembarak, such as; storytelling, drama, dialogue,

speech, and interaction games. In addition, based on the observation and interview session with

the English Club supervisor, the researcher found six the students’ problem, such as; students’

lack of attention, students’ interaction, students’ confidence, students’ low vocabulary mastery,

students’ word stress, and students’ intonation
