Salute to Herm Seavey
After more than a decade of volunteer service, Herm has stepped
down from his responsibilities on the General Manager’s Staff and
as a member of the Whitecaps Board of Directors.
His assigned duty was to manage uniforms inventory, distribution
to players, collection, laundering and storage at the end of the
season. But Herm did much more than that for the Whitecaps. He
and his wife, Nancy, could often be seen, walking the perimeter of
the field, helping to keep it free of litter. Herm also handled many
operational details, such as setting out the distance markers on the outfield fence at the
beginning of the season, then putting them safely away at season’s end.
Perhaps his most important role was that of unofficial ambassador for the Club, always
among the first to greet and welcome players as they arrived at the field for the first time in
June. A lifelong lover and student of the game, he made it his business to get to know each
player, not just by name and school, but on a personal level, including his baseball strengths
and weaknesses. When a question about a player came up among other fans, they knew
Herm would probably have the answer.
Thanks Herm, for your long service and consistent commitment to the Brewster team and
community. We hope you’ll keep studying the details and sharing your insights from your
favorite perch up by the school behind the first base line.

Thank you Brewster
Baptist Church!
Every June, the new season is
ushered in with the entire Whitecaps
family gathering for our Opening
Dinner. Players, host families and
interns are introduced, and we hear
remarks from our President, GM and
Head Coach. For as long as anyone
can remember, this important and
fun event has been held in the
fellowship hall at Brewster Baptist
Church. Many thanks to Doug
Scalise, BBC Lead Pastor and his
church for providing the venue to
help us kick off the Cape Cod
Baseball League season in Brewster.

Good Dawgs!
Each spring the Dugout Baseball and Softball
Club uses Stony Brook Field for their games,
and in the process, helps groom and
maintain the field, preparing it for the Cape
League season. The Whitecaps salute Ryan
Kinski and his organization. We are pleased
to let our field go to the Dawgs!

Thank You, Brewster Police!
These days, the Brewster Baseball Club is holding its monthly Board of
Directors meetings in the state-of-the-art Training Room at the Brewster
Police Facility on Harwich Road (Route 124) in Brewster.
Many thanks, Brewster Police, for sharing your beautiful home with us!
If you’re interested in helping out the Whitecaps, please feel free to
attend one of our meetings and see what’s going on. We usually
meet on the second Wednesday of each month, 7 pm.

Give us
a hand
with
baseballs?
The home team provides the baseballs for 22 home games each season,
not to mention playoffs. On average, the Whitecaps go through three
to four dozen balls every game at a cost of about $150. If you can sponsor
the baseballs for one or more games, it will be a very big help. Please sign up
at the souvenir stand or call Chris Kenney, President, at 774-353-0011.
