The Muny is fortunate to work with partners that share its desire to become a more energy efficient and environmentally responsible facility. Building a Greener Muny Ameren Ameren has been instrumental in helping The Muny upgrade its electrical systems, and in supporting other energy-focused initiatives, such as our audience cooling fans and The Muny’s solar energy installation. Kirberg Company The Kirberg Company’s generosity has made possible the installation of an 80-module solar panel system that produces 25,000 kWh of energy each year. The solar array saves The Muny thousands of dollars in energy expenses annually while reducing its environmental impact. The Muny Fan Club Harry & Sally Johnston, The Johnston Family Fund, Mr. and Mrs. William Holekamp, Chuck and Jan Mueller along with a host of other contributors made possible the installation of the whisper quiet fans and the efficient blower system that now provide our audiences with refreshing breezes. Republic Services Now in its sixth year, the Muny recycling program recycles a substantial portion of the waste generated in the auditorium (cups, bottles, etc.), along with many scenic and shop elements that would have gone into landfills. Republic recycles more than 144,000 tons of waste annually in the St. Louis area. Missouri Department of Conservation As The Muny’s Official Conservation Partner and sponsor of The Muny’s Mighty Oaks, MDC works to remind our guests that while The Muny’s outdoor setting creates a beautiful environment, it also supplies cooling shade and wind abatement that contribute to an enjoyable Muny experience. Visit the Muny website or look for the signs identifying Tree Tour sites on the Muny grounds to learn more about this valuable resource. Big Shark Bicycles Many Muny performers and creative artists now make their daily journey to The Muny on bicycles provided by Big Shark Bicycles. As an enjoyable option for our artists, the bicycles reduce the number of trips required by our artist shuttles, saving fuel and contributing to a healthier environment. Printed Material In a continued effort for a more environmentally responsible facility, The Muny is now printing all marketing materials and show programs on recycled paper. By choosing recycled paper, we are completing the recycling loop. We hope you will join us in saluting these valuable partners. 57
