FEATURED RECIPE

If you got off to a rough start this year with your New Year’s resolution to eat better or if you’re
running out of recipes to add to your rotation, this dish is the perfect place to start. Wasabi adds a
nice earthy spice to the fish while the greens and dressing keep it light. Try out this recipe straight
from the kitchen at Indian Hills Country Club!

Wasabi Fish with
Garden Greens

Dressing

¼ cup flavorless oil
1 tsp grated ginger
2 Tbsp white vinegar
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp fish sauce

Salad

7 oz. black bean spaghetti, cooked
and drained
1 cup cooked edamame beans
1 cup corn kernels
½ cucumber sliced into sticks
2 spring onions, chopped • ½ red onion, sliced thin • 1 cup coriander leaves • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 4 oz. cod fish fillets • 2 Tbsp wasabi • 1 Tbsp oil

To make the dressing, place the oil, vinegar, soy, sugar, fish sauce, and ginger in a jar. Shake well. To create the salad,
place the spaghetti, beans, corn, cucumber, spring onions, red onion, and coriander into a large bowl. Pour over the
dressing and toss well. Season with salt and pepper if needed. Smother the wasabi over the fish fillets. Heat the oil in
a frying pan, and cook the fish for 3 minutes on each side, or longer depending on the thickness of the fish. Serve the
salad in bowls and place a piece of fish onto each.

A Vanderbilt House Party

February 8–May 27

For the first time, reproductions of clothing from the Vanderbilts’
own wardrobes are displayed in the settings in which they were
originally worn: the elegant rooms of Biltmore House. A new
premium audio-guided tour created for this exhibition combines
innovative 360° sound techniques with stories told from the
perspectives of those who lived and worked at Biltmore in the early
1900s; this special component is what makes this exhibition a
unique, immersive audio-visual Biltmore experience. As you hear
the stories and witness scenes previously seen only in century-old
black-and-white photographs brought to vivid, colorful life, you will
feel as though you were attending A Vanderbilt House Party.

Top Destinations for Your Late Winter Vacation

If you’re looking for a winter vacation spot, a new survey from Travel Leaders Group highlights some of the top travel
destinations, including Honolulu (and all the islands of Hawaii), Las Vegas, and Fort Lauderdale.
The Hawaiian island of Kauai has a breathtaking landscape, from dramatic cliffs to lush valleys. Explore the rainforest
on a kayak trip along the Wailua River or go hiking in Kokee State Park to spot wildflowers and native birds. Maui is
renowned for its beaches and, in the winter, it’s the departure point for boat tours to see migrating humpback whales.
Oahu is home to Honolulu, Hawaii’s capital and largest city. But on the western coast, visitors will find picturesque
towns and beaches that are off the beaten path.
Las Vegas always has a terrific lineup of entertainment no matter what the season. You’ll find entertainers in a wide
range of musical styles, from Lady Gaga and Celine Dion to Boyz II Men and Kris Kristofferson. And you’ll have your
pick of a half-dozen Cirque du Soleil shows. Get away from the city for a day with a trip to the Red Rock Canyon
National Conservation Area, with hiking trails and a 13-mile scenic drive.
Fort Lauderdale, on Florida’s southeast coast, offers
a respite from winter with 23 miles of promenade-
lined beaches. When you’re ready for a break from
the beach, the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment
District is the place to go for shopping, dining,
museums and performing arts. The district includes
upscale Las Olas Boulevard, lined with boutiques,
restaurants and cafés. History buffs can explore
old South Florida at the 1920s-era Bonnet House
Museum & Gardens.
Wishing you safe travels,

Reciprocal Club Spotlight

The end of March and April typically signal a change in
season with the Spring Equinox occurring on March 20 and
warmer weather following in the subsequent weeks. It’s this
time of year that we prepare to shed our winter coats and
scarves and look for the tell-tale signs of spring: blooming
flowers and a flourish of colors.

There is no better place to celebrate spring than Tokyo,
Japan. At the end of March and April, the city is preparing
for their annual cherry blossom festivals. This is referred to
as “hanami,” or literally, viewing flowers.

Say cheers (or “kanpai” in Japanese) and toast with a cup
of sake, take part in a tea ceremony held under the trees,
or enjoy the local pop-up shops that line the streets. After
that, take time to visit the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower or
the Skytree, and drop by a hot springs to ease your aching
muscles.

While there are a few fantastic reciprocal clubs in the area,
you can’t go wrong with choosing Roppongi Hills Club for
dinner or lunch reservations. The club occupies the entire
51st floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower and overlooks the
city of Tokyo.

Inside, take your pick of one of seven restaurants, each
with a different flair and specialty and each with their
own panoramic views of the bustling city. Enjoy sushi,
Italian, French, Chinese, or Japanese cuisine all in this
one building. With constantly evolving menus, each dining
experience is unlike the last and will keep you coming back
every time you visit Tokyo.

If you are visiting for business, Roppongi Hills Club is also
a fantastic networking space. An office retreat or business
trip with clients can be hosted in one of the banquet rooms,
perfect for groups of 40 to 240 people.

Treat yourself to a spring vacation or trip that neither you
nor your party will ever forget. Dive deep into the culture of
Japan and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes.

Kiston Dowler • Alliance Assistant

Don’t forget! Contact the Alliance office at
(770) 951-7584 or email [email protected]
to request a Letter of Introduction before visiting a
reciprocal club.
