COMPANY AT A GLANCE

Since 1995, Hillside Retaining Walls has
constructed millions of square feet of retaining
walls all over California. We have specialized in
the design and construction of a variety of wall
solutions for our customers. Since our very first
retaining wall installation over 20 years ago we
have had a 100% success rate. We have not had
a single wall failure. This amazing fact has our
customers calling us the “wall experts”!

THE HILLSIDE STORY

As the son of the largest grading contractor in
Colorado, our Founder and President, Marty
Smith, was raised on CAT equipment and has
been around the construction industry his whole
life. Upon moving to California his vision was to
establish a construction company built on integrity
and quality.
In the early 90’s California was hit by waves of
massive “El Nino” storms, resulting in may slope
failures and landslides. Being on the sides of
steep hills didn’t scare Marty, so Hillside began
working on slope repairs and landslide restoration.
Included in these projects were retaining walls
that needed to be designed and installed. The
construction industry was in need of a company
that could build with quality and integrity. In 1995
Hillside was born. Since our beginning we can
proudly say we have not had a single wall failure!
