EDITORIAL

Dear 41ers,
As curtains draw on my stint as the editor of the honored association, it gives me pleasure to present the Fellowship E-magazine for the year 2019-2020, combining all the year’s Selfie issues. It makes me very proud to see that so many achievements in all the areas, with every facet having been touched upon.
Little did I know while taking over the reins of Editor, it would be the most happening twelve months of my life! Life has a way of barging in on you when you least expect it! Being the Selfie editor has been exactly that, if not more. I relived my exciting advertising days while getting the latest updates and exciting activities as they transpired. I am grateful to the President and Fellow board members for the support and encouragement at all times. I do feel that club’s support is of utmost necessity for the success of an Editor.
All clubs had great events, fellowships times, and service projects and every club made great efforts to share that information with quality content and photographs which made my job easy. I would also like to thank those of you who have contributed their thoughts and articles to the magazine adding interest and fun to each issue.
As I had already covered in much detail all our Associations activities in the nine Selfie issues, we have therefore summarised and presented the highlights of 2019-20 in the Fellowship Yearbook. As the world continued to change, Selfie continued to cover that change even as it played a part in it and published four Covid19 warriors’ bulletins.
All good things come to an end and so has my 12-month journey as the Editor. Many joyful experiences have been part of this blissful adventure, heartfelt thank you to each of you who have made this happen. I hope you’ll make the new editor Hitesh Dani as welcome as you’ve made me, as he continues this important work.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Friends,
Greetings of the Season.
We have finally come to the end of a Roller coaster year. The memories of my taking over at Goa are still fresh in my mind. All the wonderful memories have now been captured in various digital forms. All this is was possible due to the great commitment exhibited by my good friend and NEX board member, Editor GIRI. He has been an epitome of patience and perseverance, sifting through thousands of photographs and choosing the right ones to publish. A truly daunting task but successfully accomplished by our Editor Giri. Thank you for everything Giri.
This is year the focus was on communication and various digital media was chosen to reach out to all the members. Some of the media are;
➢ Facebook posts and Facebook live telecasts
➢ You Tube
➢ Twitter
➢ Instagram
➢ Selfie and Fellowship.
Many events were covered live on Facebook and videos were posted on You Tube.
The reach and viewership base has been very encouraging.
Four special editions of Selfie, aptly named Covid Warriors, that were published in addition to the regular Selfie magazines, received wide acclaim and readership nationally and internationally.
All in all, a year of historical importance captured through the eyes of our editor and preserved for eternity and lasting memories.
I would like to specially acknowledge the magnanimous support and cooperation of Chairman Ilango and all the members of “Round Table India Foundation” in our war against Covid-19.
I bid final adieu to all of you as I sign off this September. Many memories to cherish and a lot of people to thank. Thank you all for your friendship and fellowship.
May God bless you and your family members with a safe and healthy future. Take care and be happy.

INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Friends of 41 Club India,
Despite the difficult conditions imposed by the Covid-19 crisis, 41ers in India have adopted new ways of gathering, adapted the way their association works and improved their communication skills, in the true tradition of the Round Table spirit! Others have adapted too, not only within 41 international but in the whole five clubs of the Round Table Family.
International, national and regional meetings, even local gatherings and charter meetings are now mostly happening online. And that gives every single one of us the opportunity to attend more meetings than ever before. No matter our position in our respective associations, no matter how distant the meetings can be, they are just at the tip of our fingers. What extraordinary times these are, forcing us to keep our distances wear masks and stay inside, while at the same time bringing us together in ways we had largely ignored previously.
Indeed in the last three months I was offered the opportunity to attend two 41 India charter meetings, three online discussion forums organised by Indian 41ers and/or Tablers and I am about to attend the online Indian election AGM due in September. I had never expected to attend so many Indian meetings during my presidency. What an exhilarating feeling. And I am not even mentioning the invitations I receive every week from other 41 and RT family associations.
Of course the feeling is not the same not as satisfying as enjoying the fellowship physically, shaking friendly hands, hugging a friend and sharing a drink, a meal or a show together. You and I probably miss the impromptu encounters and conversations that our clubs allow us so well to enjoy. We are all longing for the end of the crisis.
The current situation also makes it harder for Round Table clubs to attract new members. They need us, 41ers and Tangent Ladies, more than ever to point those we believe worthy to local clubs. More than ever, every one of us should think about this year’s continued International motto “Let’s make Tablers (...and Circlers!)” and ponder on new ways to help Round Table and Ladies Circles become larger and shinier! In these times, it is quite a challenge. However the crisis also gives us time to prepare for the brighter future!
Yours in 41 and RT family

TANGENT MESSAGE

I began the year unveiling my theme – SHE UNLIMITED in Goa and what an amazing journey it has been since then.
On behalf of the Tangent India Board, I would like to Thank President Babji, his entire team and all my 41er friends for the wholehearted support extended to Tangent India and the beautiful moments we all shared last year.
In fact every time I hit a roadblock, I would call up Babji and ask for his advice and he has always so patiently given solutions to the problems I was facing. Babji, you have actually been like an older brother to me this year and helped me sail through with extraordinary ease
Also -I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation and utmost thankfulness to all the Area Chairmen and Board members for their unstinted efforts and support in promoting Tangent India. Thanks to their efforts most 41ers are aware of the existence of Tangent India and our activities
The year 2020 have brought monumental changes in our lives and I am so proud the way the Tangent SHE UNLTD team of OBs and floor members have all adapted to the new normal. As Covid Warriors they all went out of their comfort zone and helped the needy and the deserving.
Where FELLOWSHIP was concerned, the pandemic in fact opened up a completely new vista for us to meet online. In fact in this Lockdown we ALL have come closer together than ever before, organizing a record number of online events.
For the first time all 4 associations ie RTI, LCI, 41 clubs of India and Tangent India came together for social service projects (RTI Kitchen) and many fellowship events and webinars When you look into a kaleidoscope you see different images – each one as beautiful as the next one. Each crystal, each colour makes each design remarkable and so it is with the members of our extended ROUND TABLE FAMILY.. I thank you all for being the fabric of this beautiful Family and for making the pattern of the Kaleidoscope spectacular. Thank you for being part of my journey and I will cherish the Gift of YOUR FRIENDSHIP forever
We need to now build on this momentum of the healthy relation that the 41ers and Tangents share and seize the opportunity to embrace Changes so that both the organizations can together move ahead
I would like to wish RP Venkatesh and Team 20-21 all the very best and I am sure under his dynamic leadership 41 India will scale greater heights

The year started off by preparing a Extension & Charter docket with all details on Extension, which was circulated, to all the clubs. This has helped all the new members to understand the process of joining 41 Club and also to form a new 41 Club.
This year 11 new clubs were formed out of which 5 clubs were charted physically. Due to the pandemic 6 new clubs were chartered virtually.
Like everything else, new club charter changed too in the wake of corona; history was made with the ‘Virtual Charter of Kolkata Knights Club 246’ in Area 6 the first ever to take place in 41 clubs. The entire proceedings were held virtually on zoom and new members were inducted ‘on the cloud’! The path-breaking event has opened a new chapter of conducting business for the 41ers and five new clubs were charted after this virtually.
This E Charters are receiving good response and a lot of guests within India and abroad participated and was able to witness the charters. This is encouraging the new members to a large extend.
The enthusiasm shown by the youngsters to join us is overwhelming. The average age groups of members joined are between 41 to 43 years; with this response I am sure we will have good growth in future.
This year we have charted 11 new clubs and added 116 members.
The following are the new clubs added Area wise
The total strength of 41 India stands at 3078 with 224 active clubs in 8 Areas.
I would like to thank the respective Area chairmen and sponsoring clubs for their support and cooperation in forming these new clubs. . The sponsoring clubs ensured that retiring Tables stay within the moment and continue their friendship and bonding through the 41ers
I thank president Babji and members of the National board for the support extended to induct new members and form new clubs across the country.

Nex Board met on more than fifteen occasions informally and held six NEX meetings. First Next Meeting was in Goa, immediately after the AGM’s informal night, all the Area chairmen presented their year’s plans, which were both exciting and enthusiastic, but none of us anticipated how the COVID pandemic would change many of these plans as it has done with everything else after March 2020. The second NEX met in Coimbatore, despite being down south all the members attended not to miss the hospitality of Coimbatore 41er’s. All the NEX meetings had thread bear discussions on MTM’s of their respective areas while relishing sambar and biryani! This was the last time NEX met in-person, the next four were on the virtual platform, with all meetings revolving around Corvid 19 warriors, raising of funds, corporate tie-ups to scale up corvid relief work and virtual AGM and elections. All the members have certainly shifted the gears to virtual platforms effortlessly, it has been an amazing experience of being able to stay connected from where everyone is saving time, logistics, and cost of in-person meetings.

Freedom Through Digital Education as a long term project has
been very fulfilling. I wish to thank President Babji, IPP Rajiv,

NATIONAL BOARD MESSAGES

“ If I have to describe my experience in one word then it is was “serendipitous “.
A boulevard of memories paved with beautiful friends and activities that was least expected has been the highlight of the year.
Memories made and lessons learnt from leader and contemporaries are edicts etched in stone.
Milestones are those epochs in your mind-space not known to your own self but architected by activities pre ordained in one’s life.
I will treat this year of mine as a milestone in my 41ers journey. “
Prasad
“ I am proud to be in this wonderful board and it has been a great experience for me, constantly learning with the addition of fun and fellowship The enthusiasm, energy, the passion of our fellow members on the board has been inspiring, All board members have been amazing human beings, loving and always encouraging
and accepting all challenges
President has been the driving & holding force, Babji especially giving us a freehand, which reflects in the result of this year’s board performance. He gave us another opportunity of service in this Pandemic time to help the needy, which inspired the making of 41er’s -COVID warriors.”
Satyanayana
“ It was greatest honour to be part of the National board on my 2nd year of 41ers club . When President Babji called me to be part of team I was most exited as I could
show case my ability in organising a great domestic and international tour for
friends in 41ers club . However Covid played spoilsport . I must say though
I could not organise the tour but the oppertunity to be on this board help me realise the amazing work done by various 41 club . This forum is the greatest opportunity to meet and make more friends . Thank you all for making me part of your team ”

“ Dear Friends, Being a part of this organization helped me explore the avenues of fellowship and service that I had been dreaming about for many years. The ecosystem of support and growth that has been fostered by my colleagues under the leadership of our President has helped me take flight in my endeavors. Will always be grateful for this opportunity. Love to all. “
“ Survivors & saviors, like a surging wave, the 41ers moved on nonchalant.

“ The year 2019 – 20 can best be described in the opening lines of the Charles Dickens novel – ‘A TALE OF TWO CITIES’ which began with “ It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.....” The 41 year began with a lot of enthusiasm with a lot of fun and gaiety and expectations, till Covid 19 came and put an end to everything. It made us adjust to the ’NEW NORMAL. The situation brought out the best of service quality within us 41 ers to the fore and covid relief work was carried out across the country with great dedication, purpose and at the risk of lives. Never before has such activity been seen in the 41 world. About Rs. 10 crores was mobilized and
spent on relief work.
Congratulations to our Editor Y.V. Giri for bringing out 10 issues of Selfie and 4 issues of Covid Warrior showcasing all our activities so well. Thank you every one for your support and cooperation as I bid adieu as Secretary 41 India for the year 2019-20. ”
“ Dear 41 family,
We continue to be among equals With the fabric of friendship.
During difficult times we all stood together as a family in line with presidents theme together we will . Each one of you have given your best for the association.
Long live our association.
Long live our friendship. ” RP Venkatesh
“ Trying times for the entire Human Race. Superbly guided by President Babji, I think each & every Area Chairman performed to the call of Covid -19 relief works. Just before the lockdown was lucky to have a very good representation of the National head board for Are VI MTM @ Pattaya... which I suppose was the last outstation trip for many...Thank you Area VI for giving me the opportunity. “

The ‘Share your Joy’ projects not only helped us share the joys we have with others, but also helped us deepen our ties and provided a sense of unity and common purpose, they also facilitated us to nurture relationships beyond the clubs. Various initiatives and projects of SYJ of this year have brought us inherent joy and happiness. The clubs rising the funds internally and devoting a portion of time to implemented several projects to spread joy to others in the community.

The signature events of the Clubs have enriched the 41ers fellowship the year-round. The Clubs with meticulous planning and much creativity made each event memorable and unforgettable. Each event was spectacularly engaging, reflecting the handwork, love, and passion the clubs put into them. Everyone had a ‘blast’ in true 41er’s spirit and style at these very successful events!
Area one’s Galatta was an evening to remember, with the theme ‘Bling it on’ adding much glitter and glamour. Area 1 hosted the first-ever Area Cricket tournament ‘Howzzat’ along with the MTM that saw keen competition and wonderful sportsmanship. On 24th March, when the Indian government announced the 21-day lockdown, it triggered a huge humanitarian crisis with hundreds of thousands of migrant workers, daily wage earners, and those in the informal sector losing livelihoods and the ability to pay rents and buy food. Even the elderly was suddenly without support systems and left to fend for themselves. The health care workers, Police force, and sanitation workers were pushed to the frontlines of response with inadequate preparation and protection putting them at high risk of contracting the virus. The world stopped but the COVID 19 warriors did not, they put service above self and were at the frontlines of response where it counted most, working tirelessly to bring succor to the needy and continue to do so to date. Overnight the 41ers fellowship activities transitioned to a full- scale humanitarian service response, with efficiency, commitment, and passions. Think on their feet, adapting and responding to the ever-evolving situations and needs, the corvid warriors scaled up mitigation efforts to make a difference at scale.
Despite severe restrictions enforced by the lockdown the Corvid 19 warriors advocating and working with authorities set up procurement and distribution lines for reaching provisions, kitchens to cook and pack cooked meals, manufacture of masks, PPE and sanitation/handwash was identified on an emergency footing to ensure that they are made available to the intuitions and the heroes at the forefront of the corvid response.
The lockdown affected the lives of some of the most vulnerable communities across the country, such as migrant laborers, daily wage workers, waste pickers. Overnight thousands them lost livelihoods with and even shelter, this put them and their families and children too in a precarious situation, without money to manage
