WATER
CONSERVATION

DO THE EARTH A FAVOR, BE A WATER SAVER!

UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA KELANTAN

SUSTANAIBLE SCIENCE

Introduction

Water conservation refers to all
programs, techniques, and
practices aimed at using fresh
water resources sustainably,
maintaining the hydrosphere, and
meeting current and potential
human demand. The amount of
water used is influenced by
population, household size and
development, and affluence.
Climate change, for instance, has
increased the demand for natural
water supplies, especially in
manufacturing and agricultural
irrigation. Many countries have
now adopted water management
strategies with great results.

The main goals of water conservation is to;

- provide water for future generations by
ensuring that freshwater removal from an
ecosystem does not surpass the normal
replacement rate.
- water pumping, distribution, and
wastewater treatment facilities use a lot of
energy, so energy conservation is
important.
- conservation of freshwater environments
for urban wildlife and migrant waterfowl, as
well as water quality, is aided by reducing
human water use.

There are many strategies and methods in
water conservation. One of it is rainwater
harvesting system. Harvesting rain water can
be done in a variety of ways, including
digging dams, wetlands, canals, expanding
water reservoirs, and constructing rain water
catching ducts and filtration devices on
houses. Many citizens in many countries
keep clean pots of water in which they can
cook and drink it, which is good for
supplying water to the poor. Rainwater that
has been collected and purified can be used
for toilets, home gardens, lawn irrigation,
and small-scale farming. Besides that,
protecting ground water resources is one of
it as well. Rainwater that has been collected
and purified can be used for toilets, home
gardens, lawn irrigation, and small-scale
farming. Any water infiltrates the earth and
goes underground as it rains. Groundwater is
the water in this saturation environment.
Contamination of groundwater renders the
water system unfit for use as a means of
fresh drinking water, and natural recovery of
polluted groundwater will take years to
complete. Holding pits, untreated
radioactive waste, landfills, air pollutants,
pesticides, and road salts are also possible
sources of groundwater pollution.
Contamination of groundwater reduces the
replenishment of available freshwater, so
preventing contamination of groundwater
supplies is an important part of water
management.

MESSAGES now

Without fresh water you will die in just a
few days because you didn’t take a
proper and adequate intake rate. Simple
meaning for understand because water
you need in your daily routine. Every
morning sometimes person must drinking
water at least 1 glass after wake-up. The
person need at least eight glass per day
but consuming one’s need. Plain and
simple, no sugar coating, it is a simple
morbid fact that helps drive the point
across, water equals life. Clean, fresh
water is a limited resource. With all the
severe droughts happening in the world,
the limited supply of fresh water is
becoming one of our most precious
resources. Every person on earth needs
water to survive. This is because if you
not drinking a few days feel feeling weak
and helpless due to lack of water in the
body. Fresh water is important for daily
routine because must drinking in early
morning, afternoon, night and before you
sleep.

MESSAGES now

Water is a key component of sanitation,
and of waste management in many
countries. What if you had to walk miles
to retrieve clean water? Imagine shaving
or brushing your teeth without water, or
having to share bath water with an entire
household. Example in daily routine we
need a water for do everything. IF you
brushing teeth must using a glass for save
a water because if you didn’t use the
techniques that right you cannot
conserve a water that right. It would be
hard to have clean dishes to eat off, or
clean clothing to go about your day. We
didn’t expect if don’t a water the work
can do is not completed because a daily
routine we need a water. These luxuries
are not solely attributed to the
convenience of indoor plumbing and
other technological advances—Indoor
plumbing wouldn’t even be the
convenience it is if there weren’t enough
clean water for everyone to access.

KEEPS MONEY IN YOUR POCKET USING LESS WATER.
MEANS THE MONEY CAN SAVE BECAUSE AT OFFICE IF
WORK THE WATER IS PREPARED. YOU DIDN’T GET
WATER AT THE HOME. BY UTILIZING BASIC WATER
CONSERVATION TECHNIQUES YOU ARE ABLE TO SAVE
THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OF WATER EACH YEAR.
YOU DO THE MATH, USE LESS WATER AND THE
WATER COMPANY CHARGES YOU LESS MONEY. IN
COMPANY FOR WORK ONLY SEVERAL HOURS
COMPARE USING A WATER AT A HOME. THAT SOUNDS
LIKE A GOOD DEAL ALL AROUND. IT’S SAVING YOUR
POCKET BECAUSE MAYBE THE CHARGES YOU NEED A
PAY JUST LITTLE COMPARE IF YOU BUY A WATER
MINERAL IN BOTTLE PER DAY.YOU MUST SPEND
EVERY DAY JUST BUY A WATER MINERAL IN BOTTLE.
BUT IF YOU GET A CHARGE IN YOUR OFFICE YOU CAN
KEEPS MORE. EXAMPLE YOU CAN BUY THE THINGS
IMPORTANT OTHER BECAUSE YOU PAY IS LESS. THE
USING WATER LESS YOU CAN PAY LITTLE COMPARE
USING A WATER MORE IN EVERYDAY THE CHARGES
YOU PAY IS MANY.

Addition, Conserving water can also save
energy. In order to pump the water from a
central facility into your home or office,
energy is required to run that equipment.
For example, studies have shown that in
California alone, 6.5 percent of all energy
consumed goes towards moving water
from one place to another. So saving
water means using less energy which
reduces your carbon footprint and helps
the country become more energy
independent. Water utility costs
sometimes come with additional, hidden
costs that you may not notice. For
example, taking longer showers (or more
repeated showers) can cause your hot
water heater to run more. When your
water heater runs more, it uses more gas
or electricity, which means a more
expensive utility bill. The same logic
follows for any water pumps or filters that
you use. Water needs to get to your
house, and how it gets there can affect
how much energy it uses. If you use well
water, for example, then an electrical
pump must move all the groundwater up
to your house, potentially increasing your
power bill. Larger-scale municipal water
supplies use water towers and gravity to
maintain water pressure, but electrical
pumps are needed to get the water into
the tower. If everyone is using water
supply, then there will be more demand
to pump water to maintain pressure,
which means more power usage.

MESSAGES now

Natural eco-systems from further
damage is critical, especially for the
survival of some endangered species
Protecting our. The oceans, streams and
lakes that are the lifeblood of so many
local eco-systems are used as dumping
grounds, hurting everything that relies on
these water sources. Water is important
essential for ecosystem life. Regardless of
whether the ecosystem is in the ocean or
on land. They are highly dependent on
water to survive. For example marine
aquatics such as fish, shrimp, crabs, algae
and so on need clean water. The great
pacific garbage patch is a great example
of the worst side of our wasteful
practices. Many people can throw a
garbage at the ocean, lakes and etc. The
impact is many garbage that throw at the
lakes, sea can see can cause the natural
ecosystem such as marine can die
because just a throw plastic, bottle and
etc.

CONSERVE WATER,
CONSERVE LIFE

Using water-saving methods Homes with high-efficiency

can save our money and plumbing fixtures and appliances

diverts less water from rivers save about 30 percent of indoor

which helps keep the water use and yield substantial

environmental healthy. It can savings on water, sewer, and energy

also reduce water and bills. Conserving water also prevents

wastewater treatment costs greenhouse gas emissions

and the amount of energy associated with treating and

used to treat, pump, and heat distributing water. Conserving water
water. This lowers energy
can also extend the life of your
demand, which helps prevent septic system by reducing soil
air pollution. As our population saturation and reducing pollution
continues to grow, demands due to leaks. (Water Conservation &

TECHNIQUES USED

RAINWATER HARVESTING

Rainwater harvesting systems can vary from the
fundamental little ones similar to the connection of a
water butt to a water down-pipe, to the impressively
planned enormous ones like those which gather water
from huge territories and serve ground breaking
quantities of properties. With regards to homegrown
purposes, these frameworks are applicable to both
business and homegrown properties. At the point when
gathered, water can be utilized for garden water system,
latrine flushing, and surprisingly in washing machines.

EFFICIENT TAPS

Water-efficient taps work in two ways, they can
either reduce the water flow rate through the
tap or they can support the user to avoid
wastage of water by automatically turning it off.
Sensor taps can be seen in almost every
shopping mall or airports, it will automatically
sense the individual’s presence and the wateR
flows will be turned off using infrared sensors.
Leaky taps should be fixed to avoid wasting
water going down the drain every time.

WATER SAVING SHOWER

Set a timer on our mobiles to keep showers
short, sweet and water-saving. Water-saving
showerheads control the water flow rate and
spray pattern of your shower. These are
available in a good range of different shapes
and sizes and their design can directly affect
water consumption during bath.

SAVE UP DIRTY CLOTHES

Instead of washing clothes daily, save up and
wash a full machine loads of clothes which
actually uses less water and energy than 2
half-loads. This also means lower water bills.

INSULATE WATER PIPES

Insulating water pipes are actually inexpensive
when it comes with pre-slit foam pipe
insulation. You’ll be receiving hot water faster,
which will avoid wasting water while it takes
time to heats up.

USE A WATER METER TO
CHECK FOR HIDDEN WATER
LEAKS

It is advisable to read the house water meter before
and after a two-hour period when no water is being
used. If the meter does not read the similar water
meter then there is a leak.

USE GREYWATER
RECYCLING SYSTEMS

Greywater can be done as manual collection.
Greywater for this collection is collected from
laundry, kitchen or bathwater. The systems for
collecting greywater vary from manual to completely
automated with the manual systems being the
simplest to use and the ones with the least costs of
maintenance. The manual systems require nothing
more than a bucket and jug for collecting greywater
by hand. The water can then be used either for
irrigation plants or as a substitute for using fresh
water for flushing.

MAINTAIN IRRIGATION
SYSTEM

When using irrigation system it is advisable to
keep on checking whether its operating correctly
toward the beginning and end of each season. It is
better to clear any visible clogs and always adjust
the settings according to the needs of your plants.
Plants will need less water in cooler weather and
more in hotter weather, and correct settings will
not only save water but ensure that plants are
getting the right amounts. Also be sure the timer
waters in the morning to reduce loss to
evaporation and prevent moisture from staying on
plants overnight.

DON’T RUN THE HOSE WHILE
WASHING YOUR CARS

Clean the car using a pail of soapy
water. Use the hose only for rinsing; this
simple practice can save as much as 100
gallons when washing a car. Use a spray
nozzle when rinsing for more efficient
use of water.

CONCLUSION

Conserving water reduces wear and tear
on major resources such as water and
wastewater treatment plants and the
distribution systems that deliver water to
the public. Sensible water use can reduce
the amount of stress that is placed on our
resources, both by limiting water
withdrawals and by decreasing
wastewater distribution. There are many
ways and strategies has taken place in
water conservation. It is very important to
conserve more water because it continues
water natural and clean while defensive
the environment. Conserving water
method using our water deliver
accurately and be responsible. As each
human being depends on water for
livelihood, we ought to learn how to
preserve our limited deliver of water pure
and away from pollution. Globally, water
use has accelerated hastily in recent years
due to population growth and increased
in line with capita consumption. Most of
the boom is within the developing
international locations. 70% of water use
is for agriculture, 22% is for industry and
8% for domestic purposes, even though
there is substantial regional variant. Water
components in our province are more
likely to stay pretty consistent from
season to season, however the fee at
which people use water rises sharply
inside the summer time. During the
summer season water demand nearly
doubles, so water conservation is
maximum vital. It is important to be
aware of and to follow all water
conservation and water shortage
directives in effect in your community,
and especially important to observe good
water use rules if your water is from a
private well.
