FLARE IT UP!

Issue five

FLARE 2016 still vibrates! Dr. Venkatram Reddy
FLARE 2016 is a cultural fiesta to be experienced with verve and
Faculty Advisor,
virility! On behalf of Social and Cultural Committee, I would be S & C Committee
thankful to the constant support from the University Officials and
continuous encouragement from all quarters and put on record the
tremendous hard work put in by our students which made this gala
event a grand success. I feel short of words to speak about Kartik

Kapri and his Team. What a brilliant execution and team manage-
ment! Congratulations to the entire Committee for successfully car-
rying out all the events. And I must congratulate the team of ―Flare

It Up‖.
The collective efforts of The SAIL Office, Student Organizers,
Volunteers and PDPU officials have brought FLARE 2016 to a new

height

Kartik Kapri "Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment. Full effort
General Secretary is full victory.‖– Mahatma Gandhi
S & C Committee
It all started 6 months back when a team of 32 people started
#jharokha working with a dream of giving a different fest, a fest where
people can express their 'emotions', a fest where people can
sway away with dance and a fest where people get a chance to
enjoy the colorful explosion of human spirit. These months were
not easy but were full of challenges and difficulties . I hope
FLARE 16 was as enjoyable and entertaining as people expected
it to be. This was made possible with the efforts and dedication
of the whole team FLARE . I am glad and feel myself lucky that I
got such team members who were not only experienced but were
masters of their departments. I would also like to express my
deep gratitude to all my seniors and juniors for their constant
help and support. I am sure that the next editions of FLARE
would come with far more better events and activities and would
definitely fulfill the aim and motives of the Office of Student

Activities, Involvement & Leadership at PDPU.

THE FOUR LORDS OF EVENT MANAGEMENT

Pratik Thakkar Hitesh Jain Sohil Barad Tani Das

Ablaze, Amethyst, Zest, Melodia, AtMoshSphere, Pronite and what not? FLARE 2016 was
probably hosting the maximum amount of events this year and maximum amount of partici-
pants as well. The largest department in terms of number of Team members, Event Man-
agement had a lot to look after. We were the chain connecting all the other departments.
If we broke, you do know what‘s going to happen, don‘t you? But everything did go almost
perfectly well. Especially, students loved informals and we loved that! The Carnival Spirit

of FLARE was truly justified by them. Overall we just LOVED the experience named
FLARE 2016! Planning, deciding and sorting the events from last few months, making hun-
dreds of calls in the last week and running in each and every direction possible for the 3

days. We are definitely going to remember this experience for whole life!

Arunima Working as content creators is fun. You get to experiment Palash
Dayanand with words, you are free to add the flavor of sarcasm, or Dhruvey

an element of humor. Playing with words, using famous
quotes, mixing some random lyrics, and finally connecting
them all to the theme of carnival. The ride was quite a joy-
ous one and with a team so efficient the journey was made
exciting. Its an entirely different high when people con-
nect with your words. Writing content seems like difficult
task and it takes a lot of brainstorming and creative sense
to put the beads into the string, but is highly rewarding.

Flare 2016 witnessed the perfect amount of mirth and merri-
ment; And it couldn't have been better!! The three day ex-

travaganza gave memories to cherish life long. A big shout out
for our hard working and ever supporting General Secretary,

our seniors and the entire team
.without whom this wouldn't have been possible. Kudos to all.

- Simran Bhatia.. SLS ‗14

Well firstly, three cheers for the Team Flare, they have done an
amazing job. Last three days had been a wonderful experience.

Well organised, innovatively planned and superbly executed
events.

Last flare, we all had a lot of feeling attached to it .. And whatta
fun we had. Flare did a great job in getting people out of their
rooms, in fact the best part of this season had been the Crowd.

Coming together, having that belongingness if our college fest and
enjoying it to the fullest. Its been great fun.

I congratulate kartik and team for the great success. And I want
to thank each one of them who made it happen for all is us. Cheers

to you people.
And great work team FIU too! We are going great.

In the end like always #FlareitUp

FIU: How was the excitement before
the performance?

- The excitement level was very high
since some of us are performing for the
very first time and it felt awesome to

win in our own college.

FIU: How much time did it take to get
the whole play ready?

- It took 4 months to get the juniors
ready because for performing a street
play. We had to work on our volume and

speak louder. Also we didn't get to have any ice-cream during that time! And this whole
thing was possible because of our seniors who guided us and helped us get better.

FIU: Which team was your best competitor?

- For us NIFT was the best competitor because their concept was amazing, their timing, co
-ordination and their finale performance was just mind blowing!!

FIU: Any message you would like to give?

- We wish that there should be more plays from now on, not just in Flare but also on other
occasions and that more people get involved in street plays. There is still a lot wrong hap-

pening in the world these days and it‘s our duty to make more people aware about them.
Street play is a very good platform to create the social awareness the society needs.

Life is like Photography. You use the negatives to develop !!!

Say cheese… click, click, click…Photography is probably that simple today. Today everyone
has a camera – at least those small digital ones and everyone merrily clicks photographs
here and there – capturing moments and freezing time. But, we need to remember that

even diamonds started off as coal. Today what‘s easy in photography world was once a her-
culean task.

FIU: How do you feel to be winners?

- Its absolutely an amazing feeling. Also this was our last
performance, so winning was a big farewell gift to us. It

was a memorable moment!!!

FIU: Any good memories with melodia that you would like
to share?

- The sweetest memory is jamming in the PA room while
preparing for auditions of melodia. By god‘s grace we quali-

fied for 3 categories. It was a big surprise and trust me
this did build pressure on us.

FIU: what inspired you to make an original composition?
- It was when I was leading the AIESEC interns for music. We usually have a mini get
together after the internship gets over. So it was at that time when I and kaushal were
just having fun. We had mike in our hands so I just started singing and fortunately he
penned down the lyrics and it was then that we thought of making something out of it.

Everything just happened on the spur of the moment. It actually took us about 1 ½
months to finish the composition.
