Student Awards Special Performance Christian Character Sending & Receiving
Celebration Parade: 8th Graders are
invited to campus to pick up their promotion certificates, awards and home-made cookies in a drive through celebration parade on Thursday May 14, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, and Friday, May 15 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
*Current health practices will be in place during the distribution.

DESCRIPTION OF THE AWARDS GIVEN FOR THE 2019-20 ACADEMIC YEAR
HONOR ROLL — INDICATED BY WHITE FRAME These students have achieved a 3.5 grade point average or higher for each
of the three quarters this year.
PRINCIPAL’S AWARD — INDICATED BY GREY FRAME These students have earned a 4.0 grade point average for each of the three quarters this year.
PRESIDENT’S ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD — INDICATED BY BLUE FRAME This award is given to those students who have achieved a 3.7 grade point average for the first three quarters and scored at the 85th percentile in Reading or Mathematics on the standardized achievement test.
OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC SCHOLAR
These students have earned all A’s each semester since starting Monte Vista Christian in the sixth grade.
SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD
This award is given to those students who have participated in three or more sports and have earned all A’s each quarter of this year.


CHRISTIAN CHARACTER AWARD DESCRIPTIONS
THE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD:
This award is given to a student who has the spiritual gift of encouragement. This person is sensitive to others when they need encour- agement and gives it freely out of heartfelt concern. This person goes beyond his/her own friend group to encourage other stu- dents in a variety of ways.
THE SERVANT’S HEART AWARD:
This award is given to a student who genu- inely serves others. This person is usually not looking for recognition but loves to help and give to others in need. This person is helpful to both teachers and other students in and outside of class.
THE SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP AWARD:
This award is given to the student who has demonstrated a clear expression of faith and leadership in his or her activities at school. This is a person who will step out in front and whose example is worth following.
LOVE FOR GOD AWARD:
This award is given to a student who is not afraid to let others see his or her devotion to God. This person has a passionate faith in Christ and desires to live according to God’s Word.
CALIFORNIA JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION (CJSF)
This award is given to 8th grade students who applied and met the criteria for membership, which includes both academics and service to their community/family.
JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY
Membership is granted for meritorious work in theatre arts. Recognition is earned for hours spent in rehearsal, performance, production crews, in the box office, doing committee work, and helping with Junior Thespian projects.
FINE ARTS AWARD
These awards are given to students who have participated in and uniquely contributed to the various courses which make up our Fine Arts program. The recipients are selected by the Fine Arts teachers.
STUDENT COUNCIL AWARD
Elected by their peers, these students have served as leaders of our school community and have planned and organized several events throughout the year for the Middle School student body.
