Welcome to the Victoria Playhouse!

Petrolia is proud to welcome you back to the gem in our community
– the renowned Victoria Playhouse! Once you enjoy the world-class
theatre and National Heritage designated facility, I implore you to visit
our lively and vibrant downtown. You will see that we have grown since
you were last here, and have welcomed several new businesses, some
new restaurants and even a brewery to beautiful Petrolia!
It is with great pride that I welcome you to one of the finest theatres in
the province, featuring stellar talent, and unparalleled customer service.

ALEX BAERG

Alex Baerg is a singer, actor, musician, audio engineer, and multi-
instrumentalist. Alex is so excited to be spending another season
here at the VPP. Past productions include: Dynamic Duos, Songs
We Love, Godspell, Country Sunshine, Fiddler On The Loose, Heart
And Soul Of Broadway, Everything Elvis, Folks Like Us, Rockabilly
Swingtime, Good Ol’ Country Gospel, Rocky Mountain High, The
Power Of Song, East Coast Kitchen Party, You’ve Got a Friend, Murder
For Two, Summer of 69, Hogan’s Hoedown (Victoria Playhouse in
Petrolia), Dream a Little Dream (The Grand Theatre in London),

2013) Studio 410: Shrek in Shrek the Musical Jr., Emmett Forrest
in Legally Blonde the Musical Jr. Film/TV: Family Feud Canada
(CBC). Matt owns his own recording studio ‘On Track Studios’
and has toured North America and Ireland with his family band
(The Ballaghs) and is a part of his sibling band ‘The Crew’. Matt
is a Singer/Songwriter, and his original music can be found on
all streaming platforms. Matt is a proud graduate of the Music
Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College, and is SO excited
to be making his VPP debut! Thanks to the Davids and the VPP

BRIAN BARBER

Brian Barber is a freelance musician based in Waterloo. With
over twenty years of experience performing, Brian has a highly
diverse and extensive musical background. From weddings and
corporate events to restaurant patios and backyard concerts,
Brian enjoys sharing his love of music with anyone who will listen.
He spent two years entertaining international crowds from the
piano bar on Australia-based cruise ships. Closer to home, he has
been involved with several musical productions at the Victoria
Playhouse Petrolia. After spending the last couple of years
mushroom hunting, birdwatching, and exploring the forest, he is
so happy to be back on stage at the VPP.

DONNA GARNER

Donna is thrilled to return to VPP where she performed in
her first Actor-Musician show, leading her to a career as an
Actor-Musician and most recently to establish Garner Theatre
Productions - Canada’s first theatre dedicated to Actor-Musician
theatre works. Donna has performed in theatres across Canada,
the U.S., Austria and Japan as an actor, singer, pianist and multi-
instrumentalist. Select credits include lead roles in regional
theatres across Canada; The Sound of Music (U.S. First National
Tour); Once (U.S. First National Tour, Mirvish, Neptune); Two
Pianos, Four Hands (across Canada and the U.S.) to name a few.
Recent TV/Film credits include Dare Me (USA Network); Spinning
out (SVOD Series); Private Eyes (Global); Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu);
Anne (Netflix/CBC); Designated Surviver (ABC). When not on
stage, Donna works as a voice specialist for masterclasses and
lectures, an adjudicator, a private voice teacher, repertoire coach,
accompanist, and Music Director. She is on the voice faculty at
Sheridan College, on the board of the Canadian Music Festival
Adjudicators Association, and is a member of the College of
Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music. Most importantly,
she shares her life with her talented Actor-Muso husband Rick
Hughes and their stoic mini-schnauzer Gustav Mahler.

JESSE GRANDMONT

Jesse started playing the violin at the age of three, and has been
fiddling around ever since. He has been a recurring cast member
at the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia for the last 10 years as well
as performing for theatres across the country. Recently, Jesse
spent a year in Dubai where he performed for Expo 2020 Dubai
as a featured musical artist alongside musicians from all over
the world. Following Expo, Jesse returned to Ontario to star in
his show, Fiddler On The Loose, with Drayton Entertainment but
he is so excited to be back at the VPP for the best craic around!
Jesse thanks D2 Entertainment and Mark Payne for this amazing
opportunity as well as his Mom, Dad, Leah and Maddy for their
love and support. Keep fiddlin’ and Sláinte!

LEAH GRANDMONT

Leah has been playing fiddle since the ripe young age of three.
She is classically trained with a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid
Laurier University. She is so excited to be back in Petrolia with all
of her VPP friends this season. Past theatre credits include: Mark
Payne’s East Coast Kitchen Party, Starbright Christmas, The VPP
Christmas Jamboree, Scotland Sings;  Fiddler on the Loose, Good
Ol’ Country Gospel (Drayton Entertainment); Vigilante (The Grand
Theatre). Thank you to everyone here - actors, musicians, crew,
volunteers, directors, and especially our patrons for keeping
theatre alive and thriving!

MARK PAYNE

Mark Payne is a diverse London musician, equally at home on the
stage, in the studio, singing, playing, writing and arranging.  He is
currently the resident Musical Director at the Victoria Playhouse
Petrolia, where he arranges the music for the entire season,
rehearses the casts, and performs in most of the shows, including
“Starbright Christmas” for the past 13 years.  He also co-conducts
Primus Amabile Men’s Choir in London.     Mark will perform his
one-man show, “I Love A Piano”, with the Windsor Symphony
next season.

DAVE ROBILLIARD

Dave is thrilled to be back at the VPP after spending the summer
performing in Fiddler on the Loose and Good Ol’ Country Gospel
with Drayton Entertainment. Dave has performed in many
shows at the VPP, and he performs regularly with the Windsor
Symphony Orchestra, the Jeans ‘n’ Classics Rock Symphony, and
London Symphonia. Throughout his career, Dave has performed
with several orchestras on both sides of the border, and he is co-
founder of the chamber group Duo Percussion. As an educator,
Dave has taught at a number of music camps, he directs the LCCVI
Drumline, and he maintains a private teaching studio. Dave holds
a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree from the University of
Western Ontario and a Master of Music in Percussion Performance
from Oklahoma City University. He is proud to be endorsed by
Pearl/Adams Drums and Concert Percussion and DREAM Cymbals
and Gongs and is very excited to get to play his bodhran from
Bridget Drums!

David is currently the co-artistic director here at the Victoria
Playhouse Petrolia. As well as being a director, writer, and
designer, David has performed many leading roles in theatres
across North America. “Thank you all for joining us here today
and for your continued support. We appreciate it now more ever.

The season worth waiting for is exactly how I feel. Being
Co-artistic director here at the VPP, now in our ninth season,
(11th year), there’s no other place I’d rather be. I’m grateful for
this theatre, our incredible audiences and the ability to share my
talent in the theatre. Often I say I don’t go to work because I’m
living my passion and embraced in my vocation. So thank you
audiences for continuing to support the Victoria Playhouse and
the Davids as we continue to try to make you laugh, sing, dance
and keep you inspired while having a roaring good time! Happy
2022 season.

Back for The Roaring Twenties, Dynamic Duos, Divine Women
and When Irish Eyes are Smiling. Past stage management experi-
ence includes numerous shows for summer seasons at Victoria
Playhouse Petrolia; I Love a Piano, Hollywood Sings (Drayton
Entertainment); Dracula: A Chamber Musical (INNERchamber);
Starbright Christmas (Stratford Festival, Imperial Theatre, VPP) and
various for Here For Now Theatre, D2 Entertainment and Musical
Theatre Productions. Musical Director experience includes many
shows for Original Kids (London) and Acting Out (Stratford).
When not at the theatre, Wendy teaches singing in her studio

Maddison is returning for her fifth season with the VPP. After
months of preparing costumes, props, and sets, Maddison cannot

P A T M O R R I S O N Sound Design

In the middle of his sixth decade, struggling to embrace his
mortality, Pat finds comfort in feeding his addictions which
include playing squash, chasing Doritos with Jägermeister,
serving as the minister at Grace United Church in Sarnia, playing
pranks on Mark Payne, operating a production company, and
designing sound for shows at the Victoria Playhouse. If he lives to
retirement, Pat wants to build guitars with his hands.

Richard is thrilled to be working at the VPP. It’s so wonderful to
be part of the creative process. Some of his past VPP set work
includes Dracula, Hogan’s Hoedown, Murder For 2, East Coast
Kitchen Party, Adam’s Unplugged Puppet Party and most recently
The Roaring Twenties, Dynamic Duos and On Golden Pond. Apart
from creating sets, Richard spends time volunteering at the
Petrolia Discovery site.

CHELSEA VANOVERBEKE
Head of Lighting/Assistant Lighting Design

Chelsea Vanoverbeke is excited to be back at the Victoria
Playhouse. She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s
Theatre and  Performance and History programs. She is
also an alumnus of the Banff Centre for Arts and  Creativity
Lighting Technician Practicum Program. Productions Credits
Include: Fiddler on the Loose (Drayton Festival Theatre), Welcome
to the Tree Museum  (University of Waterloo),  Turn of the
Screw  (Western University),  Le nozze di  Figaro  (Western
University), Entangled (Impact Festival 2017), Eurydice (University
of Waterloo).

Dawson is incredibly grateful for this newfound opportunity
this season at VPP. Dawson performed in numerous productions
during his time at St. Patrick’s High School in Sarnia such as Shrek
the Musical (2015). Dawson currently attends Brock University for
Dramatic Arts and General Humanities with future aspirations
of Teachers College abroad. Before the pandemic, Dawson
performed frequently with St. Catharines’ educational group
Mirror Theatre. On one such occasion, Dawson performed
geographically “on Broadway” with MT at the 2018 American
Educational Research Association conference in New York City.
Outside of the theatre, Dawson is an avid self-published poet and
recreational outdoorsman.
