Having previously performed in a variety of productions including Rocky Mountain High, Dynamic Duos, Murder for Two, You’ve Got a Friend, Mark Payne’s East Coast Kitchen Party, Folks Like Us, Rockabilly Swing Time, and countless Starbright Christmases, Baerg is a seasoned actor who brings a wealth of talent and experience to the stage. This season, he would like to dedicate his performances to his family, who have been a constant source of support throughout his career. LEAH GRANDMONT Leah is excited to be back with her friends at the VPP this season! Since picking up the violin at the age of three, Leah has spent years performing both as a fiddler and as a classical violinist. Past theatre credits include: When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Starbright Christmas, The VPP Christmas Jamboree, Scotland Sings (VPP); Fiddler on the Loose, Good Ol’ Country Gospel (Drayton Entertainment); Vigilante (The Grand Theatre). She also spent several summers touring with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, as well as recording and performing with pop artists Stacey Kay, Lindsay El, and Priyanka. 10 WHERE THE HEART IS tickets: thevpp.ca 1-800-717-7694 • 519-882-1221 2023 VPP SEASON 11 MARK WEATHERLEY Playwright Mark Weatherley is a playwright, actor, director, musician, composer, lyricist, wine lover, beer brewer, decent cook, reasonable raconteur, and a fiercly passionate live theatre lover. Originally from Vancouver he now lives in Stratford, Ontario with his family. As an actor he has performed on stages throughout North America (including several times here at the VPP), the United Kingdom and Israel. Last year he wrote and performed in The Wonder of it All with his wife Monique Lund for the Here For Now Festival which then went on to have a successful run at the Lighthouse Festival, as well as touring theatres across beautiful Prince Edward Island. Other plays are Whack! (Lighthouse Festival and Here for Now Festival); his one person show Infinite Possibilities which he tours and also performs; Fitz Happens! for which he wrote the book, music and lyrics and has had several productions across Canada; Ale Wives, which premiered last summer at the Here for Now Festival, Framed! (Lighthouse and Here for Now); and Mozart and her Brother which premiered in Vancouver and had several successful runs in the Lower Mainland. Much thanks to Messrs Hogan and Rogers for helping pilot the development of this play and to Leah and Alex for their contribution and incredible musicianship. KALE PENNY Composer/Lyricist Kale is an actor and musician from Victoria, BC, now living with his wife and cats in Stratford. He has performed all over Canada with theatre companies including Drayton Entertainment, Theatre Aquarius, Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, Mayfield Dinner Theatre, Arts Club Theatre Company, and Blue Bridge Theatre Company. He is so honoured to have his writing as part of VPP’s incredible season. Some of the music featured in Where The Heart Is was originally released as an EP called The Tracks in 2017, and can be heard wherever you stream music. SAM SNYDERS Stage Manager This is Sam’s first season with the Victoria Playhouse, but he has been immersed in theatre his entire life. His first professional experience was as a children’s chorus member in the Drayton Entertainment production of Anne of Green Gables: The Musical. He was a very involved member of St. Michael Catholic Secondary School’s drama program, and most recently played Moe in McGill University’s production of Pomona. Sam is currently a student at McGill, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English studies. DAWSON STRANGWAY Assistant Stage Manager Returning to the V.P.P. after a fantastic 2022 Season! Past experience includes performances with Mirror Theatre at AERA Conferences in New York, NY and Chicago, IL, as well as multiple productions through St. Patrick’s C.H.S. in Sarnia, ON. Dawson is a Jack-of-all-Trades at the V.P.P. with a particular love for carpentry and mastering the art of the follow-spot. She lives in the great Town of Petrolia and is attending high school at L.C.C.V.I. Being raised by a musical family, she has a rich background in the subject with many talents, but most enjoys playing the guitar. Currently her interests include graphic design and she is honing her skills as a barista at a local coffee shop. Laura is thrilled to be back with her VPP family and hopes everyone enjoys the show! KELTIN STANNERS Technical Crew Keltin is a soon to be high school graduate working with the cast and crew this season. His roles will consist of doing follow spot, helping with anything the crew needs and frequently grabbing a coffee for David Hogan. He is very happy to be back this season and looks forward to being super talkative with all the patrons. Most importantly he is excited to be celebrating such a monumental season alongside everybody. He would like to give credit to his dogs for his enthusiasm and humour.
