Comparatives adjectives are used to show the difference between two objects. what is comparative adjectives?


there are 5 rules that you need to follow; how to use comparative? ** must always follow with the word “than ”!!


rule 1 Adjectives with 1 syllable add –er. Adj. + -er + than loud louder than


the city is louder than the countryside. example rule 1; city countryside


rule 2 Adjectives ending –Y change it into -IER. Adj.(-y) Adj.(-ier) + than busy busier


the city is busier than the countryside. example rule 2; city countryside


bigger than rule 3 One syllable adjectives ending with CONSONANT+VOWEL+CONSONANT double the last consonant and add –er. big (cvc) double the last consonent


the city is bigger than the countryside. example rule 3; city countryside


rule 4 Adjectives with 2 or more syllables add MORE before the adjective. more + adj. (2 or more syllables) + than complex more complex than
