Batman is a superhero who appears in
American comic books published by DC
Comics. Batman was created by artist Bob
Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in
the 27th issue of the comic book Detective
Comics on March 30, 1939.
Batman, American comic strip superhero
created for DC Comics by writer Bill Finger and
artist Bob Kane. Batman debuted in May 1939 in
Detective Comics no. 27 and has since appeared
in numerous comic books, comic strips, and
graphic novels; on television in a camp live-
action series and a critically acclaimed
animated program; in electronic games; and in
brooding, atmospheric films.
Batman's origin story is as follows: Bruce Wayne was a child when he
witnessed the murder of his parents. The grief-stricken boy dedicated
his existence to avenging their murders by “spending the rest of my life
warring on all criminals.” He chose a bat as the basis for his crime-
fighting disguise and thus became Batman.
Batman utilized his utility belt for the first time to
store glass pellets filled with gas in Detective
Comics #29 (July 1939). The first boomerang-like
batarang and the first bat-themed vehicle—the Bat-
Gyro, which has a helicopter blade—made their
debuts in Detective Comics #31 (September 1939).
The Bat-Gyro was replaced by the Batplane, which
first appeared in Batman #1 (March 1940).
Batman’s tragic origin story, in which a
mugger guns down Bruce Wayne’s parents as
the family walks home from a movie, was
introduced six months after the hero’s debut,
in Detective Comics #33 (November 1939). This
seemingly simple origin would continue to be
explored and mined for emotional depth for
decades to come.

(character) The Joker is a
supervillain created by Bill
Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry
Robinson who first
appeared in the debut issue
of the comic book Batman
(April 25, 1940), published by
DC Comics.ading
The Joker came on the comic scene in
Batman #1 in 1940. In his first issue,
readers were treated to a maniacal
madman with super strong links to the
Joker we know and love today. This Joker
killed and left his victims with creepy
smiles stretched across their faces. While
the stories from this era lack the depth
and sophistication of today’s works,
Batman #1 introduced a Joker who was a
holy terror to the people of Gotham.
Superman's origin took more than twenty years to unfold into the
narrative that is familiar today. During the Golden Age of Comics
(1935–1953), Krypton and the Kents were almost incidental, seldom
being referred to in the comic book stories. The Superman
mythology expanded during the Silver Age of Comics (1953–1970)
and was refined during the Bronze Age (1970–1986).
Superman is a superhero who appears in American comic books published
by DC Comics. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe
Shuster, and debuted in the comic book Action Comics #1 (cover-dated June
1938 and published April 18, 1938). Superman has been adapted to a
number of other media which includes radio serials, novels, movies,
television shows and theatre.
