Page 32 A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go
into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The
priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and
sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his first communion.” “I found a bear
by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so
mesmerized that he let me baptize him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is
lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn't have
started with the circumcision.”

Chuck Bob and Billy Bob have a ranch. They have just lost their bull. The men need to buy
another, but only have $500. Chuck Bob tells Billy Bob, "I will go to the market and see if I can
find one for under that amount. If I can, I will send you a telegram." Chuck Bob goes to the
market and finds one for $499. Having only one dollar left, he goes to the telegraph office and
finds out that it costs one dollar per word. He is stumped on how to tell Billy Bob to bring the
truck and trailer. Finally, he tells the telegraph operator to send the word "comfortable."
Skeptical, the operator asks, "How will he know to come with the trailer from just that word?"
Chuck Bob replies, "He's a blonde so he reads real slow: 'Come for ta bull. “

There was this guy at a bar, just looking at his drink. He stays like that for a half hour.
Then a big trouble making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy,
& just drinks it all down. The poor man starts crying. The truck driver says, "Come on
man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand to see a man
cry." "No, it's not that," the man replies, wiping his tears, "This day is the worst of my
life. First, I oversleep & I go in late to my office. My outraged boss fires me. When
I leave the building to go to my car, I find out it was stolen. The police say they can do
nothing. I get a cab to go home, & when I get out, I remember I left my wallet. The cab driver just drives away. I go
inside my house where I find my wife in bed with the gardener. I leave my home, come to this bar, & just when I was
thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up & drink my poison."

A husband and wife were driving through Louisiana. As they approached Natchitoches, they
started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth, then they
stopped for lunch. At the counter, the husband asked the blonde waitress, "Before we order,
could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are very
slowly?" She leaned over the counter and said, "Burrr-gerrr Kiiing."

The Presidents Corner by Scott Moore, President of Travel and Cruise World
Another year is in the books as we set off into 2019 and looking further out into 2020 and beyond. I would like to start off by expressing our
sincere appreciation for our clients whom we have served since 2000 when we became the owners of the agency. It has been an amazing 18
years and we look forward to many, many more. We are very thankful to our repeat clients and new clients and we would like to especially
send out a special “thank you” to all of you that have referred your family, friends, co-workers, etc. to us when you heard they planned to
travel. We truly appreciate having the opportunity to grow with your referrals. Please keep them coming. We are working on a referral
recognition program and we are keeping track of these referrals as they may not immediately book anything but planting the seed is
sometimes all it needs to develop into new business.
So, what is exciting in the coming year and into 2020. Well, there is so much developing in the travel industry that it would leave your head
spinning from the new itineraries on land and sea options to new ships being built and introduced in 2019 and beyond. Some suppliers have
joined forces to offer more travel options to guests and of course there are so many promotions that it can take you a week to decipher all of
the jargon to figure out which end is up. For these reasons alone you should have a travel agent.
I cannot tell you how many times we have met with clients and developed a “bucket list” of trips that they have an interest or desire to take in
their lifetime and many are shocked to find out how affordable some of these options truly are with the proper planning. You may have heard
the old phrase “Penny Wise and Pound Foolish” well that truly has its place in travel because if you are not careful you can get fascinated
with a “new and shiny” offer from a travel supplier and never learn about the hidden deals that a travel agent can search out for you. While
some cruise companies are offering things like Free Beverage packages, etc. However, did you know that if you stripped it down and did just
“cruise only” with no frills, no extra amenities the cruise could be up to $200-500 or more less expensive. It helps to run the numbers to
compare the different packages to find the best values for you. Sometimes, the costs for the “amenities” is worth while other occasions may
offer a better price if you are willing to purchase you own drinks during the cruise. For the savings on the overall trip.
My President’s trip to Africa for September 2019 “Sold Out” in 4 days and we are already planning a similar adventure for 2020.
I will be escorting at least TWO very special trips in 2020. One will be to Africa and the other to the Holy Land of Israel. If you may be
interested in joining me on one of these trips or any others that we will be putting together please let us know of your interest so that we can
send you details when we have the trips planned and priced out.
This issue is filled with a lot of wonderful travel experiences and we hope that you find something that looks inspiring for you. Be sure to give
us a call and let us know what adventure we can plan for you. You may notice that we have not included any pricing in our newsletter.
Well, that became a necessity of sorts because with the variety of promotions and specials many times the pricing is out of date before it
would even get to the printer. So, rather than confuse the issue we have showcased the trips and travel dates and ask that if you see
something that interests you to contact us for additional details and pricing. We can then check every nook and cranny for the best pricing
based on your preferences as well as if there are any promotions for past guests, resident rates, senior fare, military fares, early booking
discounts, etc. Don’t forget that we also “price protect” so if a better promotion becomes available prior to your final payment date we will take
advantage of it on your behalf.
I will mention that if you have been thinking about Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, Australia/New Zealand, South America, etc. this is your year.
We have seen both cruise and tour package rates that are offering tremendous values and some even offering significant savings and
discounts on your air. There are even a few promotions out there that are offering FREE AIR on select departures. Check out our page on
Viking Cruises and Norwegian Cruises just to name a few that have some great Air Promotions currently available with some going into 2020.
Also, for 2020 time is getting very thin for anyone that wishes to take part in Oberammergau next year. There is still some space on select
dates and departures for both land tours and river cruises offering Oberammergau as part of the package. This event that only takes place
every 10 years is truly an amazing experience as you experience the Passion Play of Jesus Christ in this beautiful and quaint German village
and they showcase this event in honor of being spared a plague in 1634.
We look forward to seeing everyone out at our 15th Annual Travel and Cruise World Travel Expo that will be held this year in a NEW

HOLLAND AMERICA LINE WINS 17 GOLD AND SEVEN SILVER 2018 TRAVEL WEEKLY MAGELLAN AWARDS
Holland America Line earned an impressive 24 gold and silver 2018 Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly. The premium cruise line took home an all-time high of 17 gold awards in
the categories of Premium Ship, Restaurant Design, Education Program and in the Marketing categories of Website, Print Advertising, Campaign–Advertising/Marketing,
Promotional Video, Direct Mail and TV Commercials.
Taking Top Honors at the Magellan Awards
Holland America Line earned a gold award for Nieuw Amsterdam, which went through an extensive dry dock and upgrade in late 2017, in the Premium Ship category. Tamarind, the
cruise line’s Pan-Asia specialty restaurant, won gold for Premium Ship–Restaurant Design. Celebrating the adventurous fusion of ingredients that vibrantly define the cuisine of
Southeast Asia, China and Japan, Tamarind presents them in an array of intricately flavored, visually stunning dishes. The restaurant’s decor has an upscale, contemporary Asian
feel with rich hues of purple, gold and green combined with bamboo accents to create an intimate and elegant environment.
About the Travel Weekly Magellan Awards
Since 2008 Travel Weekly has been recognizing excellence in travel with its annual Magellan Awards, and Holland America Line has received more than 70 awards in various
categories since the award’s inception. The Magellan Awards honor a broad range of industry segments including hotels and resorts, travel destinations, cruise lines, online travel
services, airlines and airports, travel agents/agencies, tour operators and car rental companies. Entries are evaluated by a panel of respected travel industry professionals against
standards of excellence — rather than against each other — established by Travel Weekly, which has been published since 1958 and is written for North American travel agents, tour
operators, corporate travel executives and travel industry suppliers.

of the world’s most desirable destinations, including Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s
private island in the Bahamas and its resort destination Harvest Caye in Belize. Norwegian
Cruise Line not only provides superior guest service from land to sea, but also offers a wide
variety of award-winning entertainment and dining options as well as a range of accommo-
dations across the fleet, including solo-traveler staterooms, mini-suites, spa-suites and The

DID YOU KNOW…The Princess Cruise Line travels all over the globe with destinations including Alaska, Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, and the islands of the Caribbean
and Hawaii. Princess offers world cruises that span 6 continents; 350 ports and are over 100 days in duration. The Princess fleet contains 17 ships in three distinct classes.
Grand Class Ships - Princess Cruise Line has nine Grand Class ships. The Caribbean, Crown, Emerald, Golden, Grand and Ruby travel to the Caribbean and Mediterranean; the
Diamond visits Alaska and the Mexican Riviera; the Sapphire has itineraries in Alaska, Australia and Asia; and the Star goes to the Caribbean, Europe, Canada and New England.
Each ship has a casino, theater, several bars and lounges, at least four pools and an art gallery. The Lotus Spa, a lap pool and golf simulator are available for additional recreation.
These ships provide one traditional dining room where guests eat at an assigned time, and either two or four anytime dining rooms. Specialty dining locations include an Italian res-
taurant and a steakhouse; a pizza bar, ice cream bar and wine bar are available for a quick bite. All but the Sapphire and Diamond ships have an on-deck Movies Under the Stars
Theater. Staterooms include a refrigerator, television, 24-hour room service and a private bathroom. Interior rooms and oceanview rooms range from 160 to 194 square feet; ocean-
view rooms with balconies are 214 to 307 square feet; mini-suites are 323 to 354 square feet; and suites are 461 to 706 square feet. Select ships have Grand Suites with a bedroom,
sitting room, dining area, private balcony, wet bar and whirlpool tub in more than 1,200 square feet of space.
Sun Class Ships - Princess Cruise Line’s Sun Class cruise ships are slightly smaller than their Grand Class counterparts. The Sea and Island travel to Alaska, Mexico and the
Panama Canal; the Dawn and Sun visit Australia; and the Coral has itineraries in Alaska and the Panama Canal. These ships have two, three or four pools and each has a Lotus Spa,
fitness area, digital golf simulators, a Princess theater with Broadway-style shows, art gallery and casino. The Dawn, Sea and Island ships have on-deck Movies Under the Stars
theaters. The Dawn, Sea and Sun provide one traditional restaurant and one specialty steakhouse. The Island and Coral ships give guests the options of traditional and anytime din-
ing as well as two specialty restaurants. All Sun Class ships have a variety of casual dining options. Stateroom amenities on the Sun Class ships are the same as those in the Grand
Class, though the rooms are slightly smaller.
Small Ships of Princess - The Princess line's small ships provide a more intimate atmosphere on ships with less than 700 guests. The Pacific visits Alaska, Asia, Tahiti and Ha-
waii; the Royal goes to Hawaii, Tahiti, Polynesia and the South Pacific; and the Ocean has itineraries in the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia. Dining options include a traditional dining
room, two specialty restaurants, and casual grab-and-go eateries. A swimming pool, spa, casino and art gallery are available for entertainment along with a variety of bars and
lounges. The staterooms are slightly smaller than those on Grand Class Ships, but larger than the accommodations on a Sun Class Ship.

Current Cruise Gratuity Guide
Nothing raises the passions of cruisers like the subject of gratuities. For first-timers who have-
n’t read through the minutiae of their documents and brochures, the end-of-cruise addition of
the cruise gratuity, or service charge, can come as an unexpected surprise. Knowing the
amount of gratuity you will be expected to pay for service and drinks can save you a bundle on
your cruise in the long run. It can also catch experienced cruisers off-guard, particularly if they
have been away from their favorite cruise line for a few years. A decade ago, the standard
recommended gratuity amount hovered around $9 per person, per day. Today, that number is
rapidly on the rise; depending on your accommodations level (suite guests pay more almost
across the board), you could find yourself paying in excess of $20 per person, per day, in
shipboard gratuities.
Gratuities represent an important part of the compensation for your room attendants, waiters, “You have brains in your head. You

How does Caravan Tours sell tours for such a low cost?
Caravan delivers volume to our suppliers, who in turn reward us with their very best prices, we in turn pass
these savings on to you, and you reward us by buying our tours. As volume continues to rise, we then
receive even better prices from our suppliers, and we pass even greater savings on to you. This year our
tours are better than ever.
How satisfied are our Caravan clients?
The short answer is “very.” Our surveys are uniformly very positive. However we continually strive to improve our tours, (they are often updated several times in
the course of one year), we study all client surveys and suggestions for improvement very carefully.
Pitch-Free Travel
Caravan includes all activities listed in the tour itinerary page. Caravan does not sell any optional activities which can add hundreds of dollars to your tour price.
Your free time is scheduled in great settings where there is no need to buy additional expensive activities.
Breaking News:
San Jose, Costa Rica is the 2nd most friendly city in the world, according to a new study.
General Info: Caravan’s Proud History
Caravan Tours began selling fully escorted tours in 1952. We have been under the same management and ownership ever since. In 1965, Roger Mudd hosted
a two hour CBS TV special on Caravan Tours. This TV production took about one month to make and was so successful it inspired the 1968 romantic comedy
movie “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium.” In the early 50’s the Mayor of Dublin presented Caravan with the Key to Dublin for bringing the first American tour
to the city after WWII. Since then Caravan has been recognized as a pioneer in travel.
Great Value, Book Early
Caravan’s strong buying power gives you great vacations at prices much lower than you can find anywhere. Last year many of the tours sold out quickly. Book
early for the date you prefer and the best air fare.

The BEST Cruise Travel Tips
~ Mail overflowing your mailbox is a neon sign to thieves that you aren't home. You can request an "Authorization To Hold Mail" card from your letter carrier, by
visiting your nearest post office, or now online at the www.usps.com website. Mail that accumulated while you were gone can be delivered on a date you desig-
nate on the card or you can retrieve it yourself at the post office. Contributed by Timothy Hickey
~ A "pop-up" mesh clothes hamper packs flat in your suitcase and keeps your closet neat on board. Contributed by Sue Adam
~ Don't bother packing beach towels, they will be provided for your use on board the cruise ship as well as when going ashore.
~ Have a supply of one-dollar bills handy for tipping airport skycaps and porters at the pier, room service delivery, etc.
~ An endlessly ringing phone is a hint that you aren't home. Before leaving the house, either turn off the telephone ringers or set the answer phone to answer at
two rings.
~ Notify the cruise line of any special dietary restrictions when booking your cruise and follow up on the arrangements a couple months before embarking.
~ One of my traveler friends showed me about putting a rubber band around my wallet to inhibit pickpockets. Another friend mentioned that her dad’s wallet
was knocked out of his front pocket on a commuter train during a recent trip. He didn’t have his rubber band around it. Contributed by Joe Reynolds
~ When selecting sunglasses, the most important considerations are the amount of UV light that is blocked by the lenses and a proper fit. The lenses should
shield your eyes from most angles. Darker lenses do not necessarily offer better UV protection. Look for sunglasses that block 99% of harmful UV rays.
~ Ladies, don't weight yourself down with a heavy hand bag or backpack and become a target for purse snatchers or pickpockets. Carry only what you need
and carry it inconspicuously.
~ Items confiscated by airport security will not be returned to you. If you're uncertain whether something will pass the security test, pack it in your checked
luggage. NO liquids over 3 ozs.; no knives, weapons, etc.
~ Pack and WEAR a hat to protect your scalp, ears, and face from sun damage and premature aging. Excessive sun exposure contributes to wrinkles and dark
spots.
~ Wrinkles are caused by under-packing (clothes shift) and over-packing (which squishes clothes). Avoid wrinkles by packing light and tight.
~ Toss a few empty plastic bags into your suitcase. You may need them later to pack dirty or damp clothes.
~ If you carry on your laptop computer, you may be asked to "boot it up" at security—both at the airport & at pier check-in.
~ Airline carry-on restrictions are being updated continuously. Check with your airline before packing and be aware that purses often "count" as a carry-on
item! Check - www.tsa.gov for more information
~ Tap water on your ship is perfectly safe to drink; purchasing bottled water is only necessary if you prefer the taste.
~ Tuck fabric softener sheets between garments as you pack to keep clothing fresh during travels. Contributed by Jen
~ Bring your own travel alarm clock; most staterooms do not have them.
~ Keep track of your boarding pass, on board charge/key card, as well as a picture ID to take ashore by slipping them into a bi-fold business card style carrying
case. Cases with a "suede" finish are less likely to fall out of your pocket.
~ For families with small children, a cabin with a veranda might not be the best choice. Children are incredibly quick and accidents can happen, even on
balconies with solid barriers beneath the railing.
~ Pack toiletries, clothing, and other items in clear zipper top bags for faster security examination of your carry-on at the airport and pier. This method makes it
easier to repack if your bag is emptied and searched.
~ Pack a pad of Post-It notes to leave messages for your cabin steward, family, and shipboard friends.
~ This idea is for anyone who lives in a colder climate and is traveling in winter to a warm weather cruise. When you put your summer wardrobe away for the
winter, set aside the casual outfits, sandals, swimwear, and sleepwear you want to wear on your cruise and store them in the suitcase you plan to use.
You'll be at least half packed and won't be hunting down an outfit or a pair of shoes later. You will also free up some drawer and/or closet space at the same
time. Hang your evening clothes in a separate area of your closet and pack them when you're ready to leave for your trip. Contributed by Linda Richter, New
Hope, PA
~ Check prices before leaving home to insure you don't overpay for electronics and jewelry at "duty-free" shops.
~ For minor emergencies, pack a first aid "kit" with antiseptic cream & bandages in your carry-on.
~ Pre-address stick-on labels for postcards to the folks back home & you won’t have to carry along a bulky address book.
~ Make two copies of your passport, driver's license, and credit cards before leaving home. Leave one set of copies in a safe place on your ship. If the ship's
purser holds your passport (which is often the case, to expedite clearing the ship in foreign ports), carry the passport copy ashore with you. Leave the other
copies with a friend or family member at home.
~ Binoculars are as useful indoors as they are outside. Typically you might think they are only for bringing far off wildlife and sights within view, but take them
into museums, cathedrals, and other buildings to examine the details of artwork, sculptures, and architectural elements.
~ If you pick an outside cabin, check to make sure your view of the sea isn’t obstructed by a lifeboat.
~ Print cards with your name, address, phone number, & email address to share with new friends. Stiff, business card-style paper can be purchased at nearly
any office supply store & having your cards handy sure beats hunting for pens & scribbling on scraps of paper to swap addresses.
~ Even if you don’t think you’ll need them, bring along extra camera batteries and change them before you think the old ones are “dead.”
~ Leave any paperback novels you've finished for the crew library. You'll have more room in your suitcase and crewmembers will have fresh reading material.
~ Don't forget to pack and USE your sunscreen. Why take the chance of a nasty sunburn ruining a great cruise vacation? Protect your skin from injury and
aging. Excessive sun exposure contributes to wrinkles.
~ Check the balance of your on board account before the end of your cruise. Straighten out any discrepancies immediately and avoid a long line at the Purser's
Desk that last morning after your final bill arrives.
~ Don't you look gorgeous in your formal attire? Have a family portrait taken to preserve the memory. There's no obligation to purchase any photos you don't
care for.
~ Set aside gratuity money and keep it in your room safe. Many cruisers compute the "recommended" amounts in advance and get cash in the proper
denominations before leaving home. If your ship automatically charges gratuities to your onboard account, you may adjust the amounts according to the level
of service you receive.
~ Make spa and salon appointments as soon as you can so you won't be disappointed—prime appointment times fill up fast!
~ Set aside a few moments every day to pack up your used clothing and spend the last afternoon of your cruise doing fun things while your fellow passengers
are packing to go home.
~ Most ships’ cabins have only one or two electrical outlets located near the desk/vanity table (not counting the shaver-only outlet in the bathroom). A short
extension cord allows you to use more than one electrical appliance at once and gives you a bit more flexibility to move around, particularly if you’re using a
laptop computer.
~ Don’t be a deck chair hog. It’s inconsiderate to put towels and personal belongings on poolside lounge chairs to “save” them unless you are actually in the
pool.
~ Don’t miss the morning sun in your inside cabin. Before you retire for the night, leave the television tuned to the channel with the “view from the bridge” and
you’ll awaken with a “window” on the outside world. Remember to turn the sound off.
~Take along an insulated mug with a lid. Fill it at the beverage station in the buffet area - your drinks will stay hot or cold and you won’t have to worry about
spills. Most bartenders will fill it with ice and water or a soft drink. With a straw, your ice won’t melt instantly while lounging at the pool. Better still, mugs are
great souvenirs—buy one that sports your ship’s name from the gift shop.
~Pack a small flashlight to find your way around in the dark or in an emergency.
~ Personal 2-way radios are a great way to keep track of cruise companions, but set the volume low so you don’t disturb your fellow passengers.
~ A nylon tote bag that folds compactly into its own pocket can be used as a beach bag during your cruise and as an extra carry-on for your return home with
fragile souvenirs.
~ Take along a hanging shoe organizer for the closet. It extends your storage space for small items and keeps your shoes off the floor.
~ Germicidal hand cleaner is a must have for adventure excursions where water might be at a premium.
~ A mesh laundry bag that allows damp clothing to dry out is ideal for gathering soiled garments during a cruise.
~ Pack anything that can leak in zipper top plastic storage bags.
~ A nightlight is handy, especially for passengers in inside cabins.

Tips for Traveling with Arthritis
by Alexandra Mahoney
Jet lag has a whole new meaning when traveling with arthritis. Not only
are you experiencing sleep deprivation due to traveling across multiple
time zones, but you are now in all sorts of muscle and joint pain result-
ing from your grating arthritis. Achy joints, sharp pains, stiffness, ten-
derness, and swelling are just a few symptoms of arthritis, symptoms
that only seem to worsen while traveling. For those traveling with this
disorder, try the tips below to minimize pain and discomfort in order to enjoy your journey to the fullest, without letting pain hold you back.
1. Book smart
Though it might cost you a few extra pennies, your arthritis will be thanking you when you choose your own seats, upgrade to First Class, select spacious rental
cars, or request that king-size bed at your hotel. Making said minor adjustments to your travel plans will indubitably allow for a more comfortable and pleasurable
trip.
Choosing an aisle seat on a flight allows more room to stretch your legs, while upgrading to First Class provides the opportunity for recliner seats and more spacious
seating arrangements overall. Book flights departing mid-week so lines at the airport are less congested, or sign-up for TSA PreCheck to skip the line entirely at se-
curity.
Some rental car companies even have special programs to personalize options based on an individual traveler's needs. According to Arthritis.org, Avis Rent-A-Car's
Access Program offers vehicles with swivel seats, spinner knobs and other hand controls.
2. Consider some simple assisted devices
For those who suffer from arthritis while traveling, consider bringing some simple assisted devices along with you on your trip. This could be anything from a cane
or walker, folding reacher, travel chair, beaded seat cover ,or something as simple as a memory foam travel pillow. When lines are long at the airport or there are no
available seats to sit down at your gate, having some of these assisted devices will help soothe
any pain you may experience while you wait. Not to mention, all of these items are relatively
compact, light and/or collapsible, making them easy to carry with you throughout your travels.
3. Get physical, physical
Whenever you have some time to kill on your vacation, namely in airports or during flights, give
your body some TLC and do some basic stretches. Experts Matt Hyland, PT, Ph.D., MPA,

6 Ways Travel Can Make You Healthier
By Robbie Woods
Travel may seem like a luxury, an added bonus that broadens our horizons and leaves us
with precious memories -- and photos for the mantlepiece. But did you know there's actually
quite a bit of research suggesting travel is good for your health? Here are just a few reasons
why getting out there and exploring the world may help you live both better and longer.
1. Antibodies Save a bunch with this one simple trip
We often hear experts discussing the important role these microscopic y-shaped proteins

Travel takes you to new places, introduces you to strange people, exotic foods, novel ways
of living. It forces your brain to adapt, to remain flexible. It's good for mental health, and
mental health is every bit as important as physical health as we age.
4. Healthy Heart You Should’ve Used a Travel Agent….
Now, we wouldn't want to claim that travel alone will cure or prevent heart disease. You can
visit every country on earth, and the dark side of the moon as well, but if all you eat are
donuts... you're not going to have a healthy ticker. However, heart heath correlates pretty
convincingly with travel. One longitudinal study showed that, over the course of 9 years,
men who didn't take vacations were substantially more likely to suffer heart attacks.
(Another study produced similar results for women, by the way. So it's not just a guy thing.)
Point being: if you have a spouse who's a bump on a log, it couldn't hurt to take them away
for a nice long weekend out of town. Their heart will thank you.
5. Stronger Bones
When we travel, we tend to be out and about more than when we're at home. If the place
you're visiting is sunny, that can have a positive impact on your bones.
The sun is our best source of Vitamin D, without which humans cannot live. Vitamin D
improves your body's intake of calcium through the digestive tract; calcium, in turn, strength-
ens bones. So if you visit Athens, and you spend an afternoon exploring the Acropolis,
soaking up some sun, you're doing your bones a favor as well. Or at least more of a favor
than you would be doing them at home, inside, curled up and reading Jodi Picoult.
6. Better Relationships Don’t Trust Your Vacation to a Website!
Call Travel and Cruise World Today.
As we've emphasized, emotional and mental health, apart from being important in their own
right, play a role in physical health. Excessive stress is no good for you. And when you feel
your most important relationships aren't as intimate as you'd like, that can be a major source
of stress. Traveling with a partner is a great way to enhance intimacy, to learn more about
one another, to deepen the connection. Research bears this out. According to one study,
couples who travel together are 11% more likely to tell each other how they really feel, and
8% more likely to be satisfied with how they communicate. Correlation is not the same as
causation, and it would be as foolish to suggest travel can save a marriage as it would be to
say travel can cure heart disease. But if you're feeling in a rut, longing for intimacy, looking
to reconnect with your partner, what better way to do it than by going on an adventure
together?
