Project Highlights : Kajaki HEPP Project was constructed between 1951 and 1953 on the Helmand River. Subsequent to the construction of the

dam, the Kajaki Power Station was recommended with an installation of 150-MW capacity in two stages and the first Power

Plant had its 2 x 16.5 MW turbines installed by USAID in 1975, later the 18.5 MW capacity third turbine was commissioned

and installed by 77 Construction USA Corp between 2014 and 2016 under USAID funded Kajaki Phase I project. The second

Phase of the Project (Construction of 100MW capacity second Power House) was not started due to the unstable political

situation in Afghanistan. 77 Construction USA Corp proposed Government of Afghanistan to invest and complete the second

phase of the Project under a Build Operate and Transfer contract after completing the installation of 18.5 MW capacity third

turbine in Kajaki as a contractor.
