Activity at Norwood is heating up. All our courses, courts and facilities are in full swing and if you need to cool down, we have the pool ready and inviting. The staff is busy managing and planning all our many programs, events and of course our Fourth of July Celebration. I hope you can attend all or enjoy a few of these events. They are posted on the App, Website, and flyers available in the Clubhouse. Membership remains strong...please take some time to introduce yourself to our new members and welcome them to the Norwood Family. Membership is the key to sustaining our wonderful course and grounds and we would love to share this special place with many more. The East Course Restoration is starting, and the bunkers will be first. All the staging materials are here and now ready. We will be keeping the inconvenience as minimal as possible as we move through the course, and you will appreciate the hard work when the errant shot results in a sandy. Dining at the club and especially on the Veranda this time of year is truly a pleasure with the views of the course and the setting sun to enjoy along with the new summer menu and specials. Take some time out of your busy day to take the family or just the two of you to relax and enjoy your club. The grounds and gardens are fantastic this season for an evening stroll each day is a new plate of blooms. The Club’s Audit Financials will be completed by month’s end and available upon request. On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors we appreciate your support for all the events and club amenities and look forward to a busy and enjoyable summer. Sincerely, Shari L. Membership To all Norwood Hills Members and Families, What a fun and exciting start to the year! On behalf of the entire Norwood Hills Staff, it has been so much fun seeing everyone return to the Club to kick-off the 2023 season. We look forward to another great year with you all. Memorial Day Weekend always feels like the official start of the season, but with all the beautiful weather we’ve had over the last couple of weeks, there was plenty of activity and fun being had well before then. Mike and his team have done a fantastic job keeping the golf courses in exceptional condition, especially considering the lack of rain we’ve seen. Brandon and his team have been hard at work to ensure another fun summer of golf programming, for both adults and juniors. It’s so good having Ferdy back and seeing the tennis courts full of action again. Now, with the pool opening, and a large list of upcoming social events, there is something going on for everyone and the Club feels alive again. Membership totals have also picked up now that we are moving into the summer months. It has been so much fun working with all the new families who have decided to call Norwood Hills home. They are all wonderful additions, and I hope you all have the opportunity to welcome them personally to the Club just as I have. As always, if you should ever need anything, or if there is ever anything I can assist with, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to help in any way I can. All the best, John Wright Membership Director The Cooney Family John & Whitney The Hukari Family Harrison & Vanessa The Green Family Parker & Carmen

Mr. Patrick Howley Food & Beverage The Club is now in full swing as we wrap up the first three months of the 2023 season here at Norwood Hills. A great deal of fun has been underway since reopening in March. We have celebrated Easter and Mother’s Day with over 800 members and their families, gathered with friends for our Friday Happy Hours & Wine Tastings, treated our Moms to a bubbly wine tasting and floral bouquet class with Christine Laurentius, spent a weekend soaking up the sun by the pool in celebration of Memorial Day, and had our first Patio Party of the year! There is still so much fun to be had as the summer continues! We have two other patio parties scheduled for July and August, which will include more wonderful wines to taste, fun activities for the little ones, and music entertainment by Charles. For those joining us in the dining room, we will be implementing several weekend entrée and wine pairing specials for you and your guests to enjoy. This will be in addition to our weekly food specials and wine of the month specials. Treat your Dad to a round of golf and food & drink specials by the pool this Father’s Day. And of course, there will be 4th of July festivities for the entire family! Come out to enjoy bounce houses, a day by the pool, face painting, balloon artists, music entertainment, fireworks and more! To end, I just want thank everyone for being so friendly and welcoming as I have been getting acclimated to Norwood Hills Country Club. It has been so enjoyable getting to meet everyone over the past few months and I look forward to seeing you all around as the season goes on! 9-Hole WGA The WGA 9-Hole Ladies Group is off to a great start! We have had a good turnout each week with 20+ golfers participating. Our first event, The Pink Flamingo (pictured below), was held on May 10. Chairs, Denise Klevorn and Mary Leritz, planned a fun day of golf. 1st Place: Missy Minkiewicz and Meg Turpin 2nd Place: Mandy Hammel and Meeaeng Park Many thanks to Denise and Mary for an outstanding job! Past President, Ann Frawley and her Committee are busy planning our Member-Guest event to be held on June 14. They picked an appropriate theme “Red, White, and Birdie“, to honor Flag Day. If you are interested in attending, please contact Mary Beth Fox at [email protected]. All members are welcome! On June 21, the 9-hole group and the 18-hole group will get together for a fun scramble. This is a relatively new event but is enjoyed by all who have participated in the past. We are always looking forward to welcoming new members. If interested, please contact Sharon Winget at 314-602-3591. A reminder to all...the tee of time in June, July, and August is 9:00AM. See you on the course! 10

Grounds & Greens The season has been a productive one. Several projects to clean up problem areas were completed this past spring and early summer. Each one enhanced the beauty of the Club. Hiring of summer staff has gone well this year- we have plenty of workers. Training was chaotic for a period as most of our workers didn’t know what a golf course was. Over time they improved, and we were able to free up our more seasoned workers to do the tasks that require more attention. This has allowed us to get back to some of the regular programs we use to make Norwood the golf facility it is known for. The two retirements of our project foreman and irrigation technician slows us up at times. We are dealing with irrigation issues the best we can. Our two course superintendents, assistant, and myself are all capable of troubleshooting and fixing issues, but takes us from other tasks we would normally be doing. We continue to look to fill that position. Jordan, who has taken over as project manager, does a fine job. He is very capable and learning along the way. Projects will move a little slower at first and I know it won’t take long for Jordan to hit his stride as he gets going rebuilding the East bunkers. The East bunker project is underway...we are very excited to have started this project as it is years overdue. There will be days that a hole may be closed for work on greenside bunkers, or made a par three, if we are working on fairway bunkers. I am looking forward to a productive season and another great Ascension tournament. See you out on the courses! The WGA Season is off to a great start! Our Wednesday events have been well attended, thanks in part to the great weather we have had this Spring. Our Get Acquainted Day scramble was won by the team of Joe DiSalvo, Barb Hill, and Pat Mercurio. Results for the ‘Grandmothers and Chicks’ Tournament on May 5: Grandmothers Low Gross Marie Carlie (1st), Barb Hill (2nd), Patty Madras (3rd) Low Net Terry Milne & Esther Schmid (tied for 1st), Eileen Barry (2nd), Alison Allman (3rd) Chicks Low Gross Nannette Baker (1st), Pat Fuqua (2nd), Mary Gentsch (3rd) Low Net Dolores Boehmer (1st), Val Snyder (2nd), Claire Boevingloh (3rd) Our Member-Guest Tournament is Wednesday, June 28. Thank you to our Chairman, Diana True; Sports Chairman, Patty Madras, and our Golf Pro, Matt Dillman, for all of their work this year! 18-Hole WGA A fun day of golf, food, drink and laughter! WGA’s Member-Guest Wednesday, June 28

Grounds & Greens The 2023 ST LOUIS JUNIOR INVITATIONAL at Historic Norwood Hills Country was played on Thursday and Friday, June 15 & 16. The St. Louis Junior Invitational, established in 2019 by Bob Phillips and Jim McLaughlin, is one of the premier junior golf championships in the USA and has placed Norwood Hills on the map nationally. Recognized as a ranked junior golf championship, one player from both the young gentlemen’s and young ladies’ divisions earned the prestigious championship title and were presented the St. Louis Junior Invitational’s champion’s jacket. Also on site was Alonzo Byrd, presenting both winners with a special Ascension Charity Classic award. This was a 36-hole stroke play championship, men’s and women’s divisions, and featured players from 16+ states and Canada. A record eight (8) Norwood Hills players were accepted in the field and included Lyoto Bellon, Eric Ewing, Tess Guignon, Patrick Holdridge, Tim Lane, Aiden O’Keefe, Henry Robards and Harrison Zipfel. We are excited to announce this year’s young men’s winner was Harrison Zipfel, who carded a score of two under par over 36 holes. He is the first Norwood Hills player to win this championship. We would like to recognize our departed friend, Bob Phillips, for his dream in creating the best junior in the country, as well as Shawn Kelly, Joe Weinbauer and Jim McLaughlin for their hard work in showcasing our club. KSDK was onsite covering this championship as well as the Mizzou Men’s golf coach, University of Oklahoma golf coach and a number of other D1, D2 and D3 schools, following what might be our future PGA and LPGA players. The Tournament Committee is pleased to announce it made a noteworthy donation to both the Norwood Hills Historic Preservation Fund as well as PGA Reach, following the championship. If you want to learn more, please visit https://stlgolfjr.com or to volunteer as a tournament ambassador in 2024, please email Jim McLaughlin at [email protected] 12

Golf Shop News With the golf season in full swing, the professional staff would like to send out some information regarding the next few months. Purchasing of the bundle packages has now closed. For those of you who have bought a bundle package, we just wanted to remind you that they will expire on December 31. Now that the Norwood Cup and Couples Cup are underway, I would like to share the USGA Policy for posting Match Play scores: 1. Holes played and completed a) Record score for each hole played and completed. 2. Holes played, but not completed a) If you begin play on the hole but do not complete the hole, record the number of strokes taken, plus the number of strokes you most likely* would have taken to complete the hole. That number is not to exceed your maximum allowable hole score on the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) Chart. 3. Conceded Strokes a) Treat conceded strokes the same as #2, Holes played but not completed. 4. Holes not played a) If you stop the match play round because one competitor has already won, record par plus any strokes you are entitled to on the remaining holes. You must, however, play at least 13 holes in order for an 18-hole round to be posted, and must play at least 7 holes for a 9-hole round to be posted for handicap purposes. *most likely score: A most likely score is the score a player must post for handicap purposes if a hole is started but not completed or if the player is conceded the hole. The “most likely score” consists of the number of strokes already taken, plus, in the player’s best judgment, the number of strokes the player would have taken to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. This number may not exceed the player’s Equitable Stroke Control limit. We have multiple events and Demo Days booked for June and July and they are as follows: · Senior Member-Guest - June 22 (1:00PM Shotgun on the West Course) · Women’s Team Championship - June 25 (9:00AM Shotgun on the West Course) · July 4th - 9:00AM Shotgun on the West Course · Wine & 9 - July 9 (2:30PM Shotgun on the East Course) · Senior Club Championship - July 15 & July 16 (East Course on Saturday & West Course on Sunday) · Husband & Wife Championship - July 30 (9:00AM Shotgun on the East Course) DEMO DAYS · Ping - June 22 · TaylorMade - July 7 · Callaway - July 13 · Titleist - July 28 As we get into the heart of the season, in order to provide exceptional service and accuracy, we ask that members check in with the golf staff at the bag drop before playing their round.
