DISTRICT GOVERNOR MESSAGE

Dear Rotaractors,

Annually, in March, the Rotary family celebrates World Rotaract Week.

DG Waddy Sowma We honor the chartering of the first Rotaract club in North Carolina, USA on March 13 1968. Although this
year the World Rotaract Week is more special with the mark of 50 years of Rotaract the world over, the
celebration should be about the successes and importance of the Rotaract program. It is also to emphasize
the relationship between Rotaract and Rotary by joining in special activities. The Rotaract week is a perfect
time to inform our community more about how Rotaractors are making a difference in the lives of others by
serving humanity.

Rotaract, as a Rotary program, it’s goal is to develop and shape the future leaders of our communities. By the Rotaract program Ro-
tary provides service not only to the community but also through the community, the Rotaractors.

Traveling around the district, meeting with the board and the members of the Rotaract Clubs, I was amazed by the way many of the
clubs were organized, but most importantly by their projects.

Let me congratulate you on the 50th Anniversary of the first Charter and thank you for your service to the community. Continue
making the world a better place.

DISTRICT ROTARACT CHAIR MESSAGE

This is our Week; The World Rotaract Week 2018!

DRC Djaienti Hindori Together with more than 250.000 Rotaractors around the world we celebrate the fact that 50 years ago,
irresistible vagabonds :)” the first Rotaract club was formed to give young adults a forum to connect and to take action to do
good. Along the way we discovered that helping others is not only good for them, it also makes us hap-
pier and healthier too. Giving also connects us to others. That is why we want Rotaractors to have fun
while making the world a better place, whether it is in our own community or in a joined project across
the ocean. During these 50 years we have also experience that more and more Rotary and Rotaract
clubs enjoy a more equal and fruitful partnership, one in which members of Rotaract collaborate in
decision making and planning, rather than serving in a subservient role. A smooth transition to become
a Rotarian is within reach. Therefore let us keep on energizing one another, attract new members and
let our actions leave a MARK!

“And if you really want to know what I think of our D7030 Rotaractors, I would say that they are all

Congratulations to all 726 Rotaractors spread around 47 clubs of our District 7030!

 On July 1st, 1974 District 404 was formed with Dr. John Watts of the Rotary Club of Grena-
da elected Director General at the First District 404 conference held in Port of Spain, Trini-
dad.

 Rotaract was introduced to the District when the Rotary Club of Grenada chartered the Rota-
ract Club of Grenada on January 21st, 1978.

 In 1981 the District was split into Districts 404 and 405. District 404 which later became Dis-
trict 7020 consists of clubs in the north of the Caribbean, while District 405 consists of the
clubs in the south, currently in District 7030.

 The first club in Trinidad, the Rotaract Club of San Fernando, was chartered in 1984, while
the Rotaract clubs of St. Lucia, Roseau (Dominica), and Georgetown (Guyana) were char-
tered in 1985. Another three clubs, the Rotaract Clubs of Kingstown (St. Vincent), St. Lucia
South, and St. Kitts were chartered in 1986 before the Rotaract District was formed.

 In 1986 Rotarian Earl Johnson of the Rotary Club of Dominica along with Rotarians Mike
Moncherry and Tom Alexander of the Rotary Club of St. Lucia worked on establishing a Ro-
taract District.

 In 1986 the first District Conference was held in St. Lucia and Barbara Jacobs of the Rotaract
Club of St. Lucia was elected the first District Rotaract Representative (DRR) of the District.

FUN FACT: In 1991 the District was briefly renamed District 4050 before settling on its final
name District 7030 on July 1st, 1992.
