Basketball IN Alberta -

2018 MEDIA GUIDE &
RECORD BOOK

A Message from Alberta Basketball Executive Director Paul Sir:

The Provincial Team Programs across the country are far more signi cant than just
providing opportunities for some of the nation's most talented players to play the game
of basketball. The weight of the endorsement with Canada Basketball that the national
championships are the most important event to observe and identify talent for the
national team program adds importance. This unique setting allows all participants to have
the chance to demonstrate their abilities to the national program while being part of a
team competing for a national title.
The basis for this partnership is that the provinces are picking coaching sta s that are
teaching the 'Canadian Style of Play.' This is indicative of the provinces' commitment to
truly implementing a 'Best Practices' approach as they strive to educate and prepare their players not just for the
national championships but to carry their skills and understanding back to their school teams or on to post
secondary settings.
Alberta Basketball is proud of the athletes on our teams. We are grateful for the commitment of our coaches.
We thank the parents and guardians of the players for their sacri ces and support. Our Media Guide is a celebration
of this time in all of their lives and will serve not just as a way to let people know who they are in the present but be
a source of memories in their future. Alberta Basketball wants to thank Brian Swane. His creativity and tirelss e orts
made this project a reality.
We wish all involved a wonderful and meaningful summer experience!
Sincere regards,

Paul Sir
Executive Director
