Making our mark

The Diamond Plus mark is a new element of the HCA Healthcare logo, and it has
unique significance. Diamonds represent a lifelong commitment and are most
valuable when clear—much like HCA Healthcare's clarity in its commitment to
provide patients the care they deserve. In fact, the diamond in the center repre-
sents the patients we serve.

The four avenues around the diamond are the unique benefits HCA Healthcare
delivers to our patients:

Mission:
Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement

of human life.

Values:
 We recognize and affirm the unique and intrinsic worth of

each individual.
 We treat all those we serve with compassion and

kindness.
 We trust our colleagues as valuable members of our

healthcare team and pledge to treat one another with loyal-
ty, respect, and dignity.
 We act with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness in the
way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.

Please talk with your Leaders should you have questions.

July All Star of the Month

July All Star of the Month winner, Kwame, sat down
with

Marketa de Rooy, HR BP to discuss her recent
nomination and
title:

Kwame Mensah, Supv Rehab

Interviewer: “Kwame, first congratulations on being named the July All Star
of the Month! You have demonstrated an excellent patient care. We are proud
to have you here at HCA West.”

Interviewer: “When you’re not here at the hospital, what do you like to do in
your free time?”
Kwame: “I try to enjoy life. I usually spend time with my wife, two kids, and my
extended family. There is 11 of us so there is always someone to hang out with.”
Interviewer: “What drives you to come to work every day?”
Kwame: “My mom was a nurse and my dad was a doctor so most of my siblings
ended up in the medical field. When my mom got sick, I was the one to take care
of her. After she passed, I wanted to honor her. The best part about it was that I
wanted to do what she did. I still feel that when I take care of our patients, I am
taking care of her.”
Interviewer: “What do you enjoy most about working at HCA West?”
Kwame: “Being an RN does not feel like work to me. It fills me up. I feel that I
am where I need to be as I can make a difference in other people’s lives. I love
interacting with people and being hands on with patients.”
Interviewer: “Why do you think patients like you?” “I care for them as I would
care for my family. I see my mom in every patient. I feel like I need to pay her
back for all she has done for me and I do that by caring for our patients.”
Interviewer: “Thank you Kwame for all you have done for this hospital. Your
life story is truly inspiring. May the life of your mom be honored in your
service.”
