SOME EMPOWERING INSIGHTS ON
WHY TRAINING
Why is training imperative in the world of Rotary ? The answer lies
in the following startling researched fact
“…37% of members leave Rotary due to lack of proper
information …” Rotarian Economist Quentin Wodon.
Rotary International gives lot of emphasis in
imparting training to Rotary’s Global Leaders,
District Leaders ,Club Presidents and
Rotarians .
The following are the structured training
programs, mandated by Rotary International
for every district on the global map.
Mandated District Training Programs
District Team Training Seminar.[ DTTS]
District Training Assembly [DTA]
Presidents-Elect Training Seminar[ PETS]
District Rotary Foundation Seminar
District Leadership Seminar
Grant Management Seminar
Over and above the mandated training
programs every district adds value to the
above structure by adding ‘continuous
training events with fun and frolic ’ this is to
build better camaraderie and fellowship
amongst the Rotarians.
Pre-PETS is a brain child of erstwhile District 3140, today’s 3141. Over and above
District Assembly , [A Mandated Training Program ] D.O.P or Directors
Orientation Program is one such initiative undertaken by District 3141 . D.O.P
re-emphasises and re-establishes the information for every Club President’s
Team, more so since it is a small group it is more personalized . DOP hence
has been much sought after and a very successful program in our district.
This year The District Training Team Headed by IPDG Praful Sharma, aided by the undersigned and
Dr. Arun Chaudhari along with the support of Assistant Trainers and Avenue Chairs successfully covered
98% of the clubs in the district.
The future of this organisation lies in the hands of Informed and empowered
members ,empowerment leads to conviction in the cause and purpose.
Any SMART President in consultation with their board and the members of the
club, feels the need to understand any Rotary related subject, contact the
district training team who are committed to comply and resolve the same.

JEEVAN DAAN - BLOOD DONATION
Trains were late, Mumbai was flooding and amidst the noise
and chaos you could still hear young Rotaractors & Rotarians
requesting people to donate blood in creative ways. This was
the first project of Smart year & also of Rotary Seva Abhiyan.
They came up with slogans like “trains hai late, mat karo wait!
Karo blood donate”, “karo jeevan daaan, karo raqt daan” etc.
Their energy and enthusiasm was
contagious, people who were sceptical and
had myths about donating blood felt more
comfortable doing so after being
approached by volunteers. Donors
appreciated the organisation, execution
and efforts of these responsible Rotarians
who managed the camp from 8am to 5pm.
These blood donation camps were
conducted at 23 different locations like
Dadar station, CSMT station, Andheri station,
Saifee hospital, Ghatkopar station, Mulund
station, Goregaon station, colleges, malls,
etc where 1300 bottles of blood were
collected! This huge number was achieved
by the support of 90+ rotary clubs, 60+
Rotaract clubs and 430 + Rotaractors in
action. Along with blood camps, organ
donation pledge forms were also
distributed and people were made aware
of the importance of pledging their organs.
Over 300+ pledge forms were signed by
potential donors. A total of 1850+ donors
were identified and registered by the end of
13th July This was stupendous success to
start the year. It was heartwarming to see
positive feeling of humanity & compassion.

Smart Installation
OF DISTRICT GOVERNOR & CLUBS OF
MULUND AND BHANDUP
SMART DG Harjit Talwar, a man of vision likes to bring about simple
and logical solution to any major situation. He coined this idea of a
joint Installation of the DG with several club Presidents & their board. So
the 8 Rotary clubs of Mulund & Bhandup joined in to share this honour
and responsibility .
This will set a trend for future saving not just time
& effort but also money & resources which could
be put to better use. Also increases inter- club
bonding, building a healthy relationship to work on
projects jointly.
He is a strong believer of change not coming if we
wait for someone or for the right time. We have to
be the change we seek & act towards that now.
The day started with a ceremonious pooja by
SMART DG Harjit and his SMART Presidents at the
Shiv Ganpati temple within the premises followed
by a tree plantation in the same premise in tune
with DG’s message of Green Mumbai.
Meeting was called to order by Miracle President K
B R Swamy from RC Bombay Mulund Valley.
It began with an invocation song & opening
dance performance.
The eight Presidents and clubs from Mulund and
Bhandup got installed for the SMART year 2019-20
in order of their presence in the SMART directory.
Preceding the Installation of SMART DG Harjit Talwar and
handing over the responsibilities by Miracle DG Shashikumar
Sharma to the incoming team was an outstanding perfor-
mance by Rotaractors of Mulund and Bhandup clubs to the
chartbuster number 'SINGH is KING' Harjit's introduction was beautifully
done by his children Simran & Manpreet , making the DG & first lady
Romi quite emotional. This was duly followed with the introduction of
SMART Core Team by Harjit , in his personal style with a shayari dedi-
cated to each one.
