tary and families attending the event, and our committee
gave it their all as they always do, thank you folks for always
supporting our Military and Veterans, you are a very loyal
and hard working group and I’m proud to work along side
you all.
July 20, we are taking 20 sailors out on a charter fishing
boat for a day of fun and relaxation on the ocean, we leave
from Pt. Pleasant on the Norma K, and we hope for good
weather!! After the fishing trip we are all heading back to
the Lodge for a delicious luncheon prepared and served by
our Veterans Committee, as always Toms River, the friendly
Lodge shows our Military and Veterans how important they
are and that we will never forget them.
Looking ahead, we are planning another Hearts Apart
dinner for our families of deployed troops, it will be held
on October 21 over at McGuire, our chef’s extraordinaire
(Bruce Baita and Nancy Hannah) are preparing the menu
and meals for us, God Bless Em’. Also in the pipeline is a
Veterans Day luncheon for over 100 disabled Veterans on
November 11, and another Job Fair, date is still being deter-
mined given the availability of the Hall, other meetings and
special events, it will probably be at the end of November,
stay tuned for more details.
Tickets for our fund raiser “FAMILY FEUD” will go on sale
in August, the event is on Saturday October 22 and it should
be a great event and a lot of fun, I hope you are getting your
teams together and practicing your Trivia in preparation for
the event......more details to follow....
Finally, we are planning a tour of the Historical areas on
board the Navy Base are Lakehurst on Saturday August
27, we will meet up at 0930, and anyone from the Lodge
is welcome to join us on the tour. The tour is free, and lasts
approximately 2.5 hours, there will be time to browse the
museum and gift shop on your own after the tour. Places of
interest on the tour are the historical Hangar One, where
the Hindenburg was housed, the crash site where the Hin-
denburg went down, Hangar Six where the Navy Air Ship is
housed and other sites of interest. In order to be a part of
the tour, I will need some information from each person on
the tour, full name, birthdate and driver’s license number,
and I’ll need that information NO LATER than THURSDAY
