prior to attendance of the JSWs Bangkok – advised and coached by the Co-Advisor. During and
after the JSWs Bangkok, the student will work on, and finalize their Research Prospectus, before
being advised and coached by the Principal Advisor.

The Research Prospectus will outline the students’ topic within the field of business
administration, as well as the proposed methods of research to be applied, i.e., qualitative study,
quantitative study or mixed-methods.

The draft of the Research Prospectus Concept should be about 10-15 pages and has to cover the
following topics:
1. Introduction / Rationale / Problem Statement
2. Proposed research gap(s) / Research Problem
3. Annotated bibliography of the relevant literature
4. Proposed research methodology (e.g. qualitative / quantitative / mixed-methods)
5. Significance of study / Managerial impact

(2) Research Prospectus Submission
The DBA student is required to submit their draft of the Research Prospectus, with the approval
of the Co-Advisor, to MSSU (at [email protected]; with a copy of the e-mail being sent
to [email protected]) within 45 days of the start of the JSWs Bangkok.

During and after the JSWs Bangkok, with the Principal Advisors’ guidance and support,
the DBA student is required to submit the Final Research Prospectus to MSSU
(at [email protected]; with a copy of the e-mail being sent to [email protected]). After
approval of the Final Research Prospectus, by both the Principal Advisor and the Co-Advisor,
DBA students are eligible to proceed to the next phase of the DBA programme: Phase 2 “Thesis

60 pages and structured as the example below;
The main structure of the Thesis Proposal
1. Title
2. Introduction
3. Problem statement / Research gaps
4. Research questions and Research objectives
5. Relevant theoritical or Conceptual framework
6. Literature review
7. Research methodology (e.g. qualitative/quantitative/mixed-methods)
8. Significance of study/Business impact
9. List of references

DBA students will develop their Thesis Proposal under the supervision and coaching of both

(2) Plagiarism

The American Psychology Association (2020), defines plagiarism as, “the act of presenting the
words, ideas, or images of another as one’s own; it denies authors credit where credit is due.
Whether deliberate or unintentional, plagiarism violates ethical standards in scholarship” (p.57)

MSSU and Silpakorn University take plagiarism seriously. According to the Silpakorn
University Announcement; Subject: Plagiarism, Originality, in Thesis/Independent study B.E.
2564;

• DBA students are required to send their Thesis to be checked for any acts of plagiarism,
and for the originality of their Thesis, with plagiarism detection software, i.e., the “Turnitin
Program”. For convenience, DBA students can send their Thesis or individual manuscript
excerpts to MSSU (by email: [email protected]) to use this service. An originality
report will be then submitted to the DBA students.
• Before the submission of the completed Thesis, DBA students must submit, to the
advisors, the originality report printed from the Turnitin Program as proof against
plagiarism. In the case that the similarity index score is too high, those flagged instances,
which are similar to, or matches against, one or more other sources, must be reviewed
under the consideration of the advisors to avoid deemed plagiarism.
• The consequences of commiting plagiarism will be the de-registration from the DBA
programme without refunds. In the case of severe plagiarism of the DBA Thesis being
proved on a date later after the date of the award of the degree, Silpakorn University Council
shall withdraw the plagiarized Thesis and revoke the degree obtained.

(3) Submission of the Thesis to the Committee

Once both advisors consider the Thesis is complete and appropriate for submission for Final
Approval, the DBA student needs to apply for the Thesis Oral Defense. The request of Thesis
Oral Defense can be made via www.reg.su.ac.th. It is then the student’s responsibility to submit
the Thesis to MSSU (by email: [email protected]) at least two weeks before the
scheduled exam date.

In terms of copyright ownership, the copyright of the DBA Thesis is retained by Silapkorn
University (Please see Appendix H). The procedure of Thesis Oral Defense will be provided in
the next section.
