In this edition of Udaan, I am happy to share that, the fruit of such tremendous efforts towards student centric and holistic development prospective, we have been recognised in current ARIIA ranking as Band-Excellent, by MoE, govt of India. Institutional NSS unit in association with Department of Psychiatry, AIMS, organized a workshop on “Stress Management” on the occasion of observing World Mental Health Day-2021 on 11th October 2021. Dr Shivakumar. B.K, Associate Professor and HOD, Dr. Vinay.H.R, Assistant Professor and team from the Department of Psychiatry & Clinical psychology were the resource persons for the workshop. The B Pharm & M Pharm students were the participants, the various stress management activities like balloon balance & communication enact are conducted. The key messages regarding handling adversities by adolescents was communicated at the end. October - December 2021 A MOU has been singed with M/S Prakruti Products Pvt Ltd. Karwar, a well-known Manufacturer of Exporters of Herbal Extracts. The MOU Has been signed by Honourable Vice Chancellor of ACU and Mr. M R Shetty Chairman of M/S Prakruti Products Pvt Ltd in the presence of Registrar of ACU & other office-bearers of ACU in 12th October 2021. Academic & Administrative Audit (AAA) was conducted on 25th October 2021 followed by campus visit and interactive session with students and faculties. International Student’s Day Organized Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's Birth Anniversary as ‘International Students Day’ on 13th October 2021 at Yuvalaya as a part of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The program was to honour our People's President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, for his contribution to our nation. Students and staffs delivered speech and also participated in quiz competition. The program was culminated with a tribute video to motivate the young minds to follow the legacy of Dr. Kalam sir. Induction Program Organized a 10 days (27 Octobe-11 November 2021) long induction program for the fresh entrants to B. Pharmacy, Pharm. D and Diploma in Pharmacy programs, in line with the UG. requirements. The very purpose of this induction program is to acclimatize the students to the new environment and get them acquainted with the institution ethos & culture, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration by designing an induction program with a series of lectures on History of Pharmacy profession, its scope and few lectures on motivating and inspiring the young minds. The program began with delivering basic introduction to the Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, ACU and SACCP by Mr. Tripathy Amrutanand. S, Dept. of Pharmacognosy which followed with the deliberations by Dr. B Ramesh, Dean and Principal, SACCP. In his deliberations Principal shared encouraging words including giving importance to 3P’s and being SMART in setting goals. October - December 2021
Campus Placement Institutional placement cell in association with Manipal Hospital Pvt. Ltd, Bangaluru organized pool campus placement drive on 28th October 2021. Around 70 students from various colleges attended the drive. Total of 17 students got selected in the pool campus placement. Amoung all 12 student from SACCP has been selected and offered job. Remaining selected aspirants from Karigowda college of pharmacy (03) Shardha Vilas college of Pharmacy (02). Second Vaccination Drive Institutional NSS unit in association with ACUNSS Unit and AIMS/AHRC & PHC Belluru organised second open vaccination drive on 12th November 2021 at Yuvalaya, SACCP with the aim of vaccine for all. Around 120 participants including students, teaching and non-teaching staffs got benefited from this vaccination drive. The program was conducted online through Microsoft team’s platform and was attended by nearly 120 students and staff.
Visitors from Research and Training Institute A six – membered scientist team of Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Mysore (CSRTI, Mysore) Visited Adichunchanagiri University on 16th November 2021 to witness the research facilities at the university. As a part of the visit, team visited Sri Adichunchanagiri college of Pharmacy, BG Nagara The members present were Dr. Mary Josepha Shery A.V, Dr. Madhusudhan.K.N. Dr. Arunakumar G. S., Dr Yeruva Thirupathaiah, Dr. Vivek along with two scientists were present during the visit. Team witnessed the entire facility at the institute, specially CORMIL & CMPAT and shared the various concepts; challenges related to their project, strengths and opportunities encountered on the projects were discussed. Further the team also noticed the various ongoing projects at SACCP, BG Nagara. Dr. Vedamurthy Joshi and Dr. Dinesh R coordinated the entire visit. PG Training Programme PG students of Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs visited JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru on 17th November 2021, for one day training on eCTD software. Dr. Pramod Kumar, Principal of JSSCOP inaugurated the program with a brief introduction about College and RA department, followed by department tour. Dr M P Venkatesh, Associate Professor, Dept. of regulatory affairs, presented the overview of dossier and the software. Dr Balamurulidhara V and his PG team demonstrated eCTD submission for US, EU and Canada. Dr Gowrav, coordinated the entire program and provide a complete day of beneficial learning to the students. Library Week Celebrations Institutional Library and e-resource centre organised National library week celebrations on 14th to 20th November 2021 in Association with Adichunchanagiri University & SACCP IQAC. On this occasion an Essay writing for Undergraduate Students on the Theme “Library as a resource center” was organised on 20th November 2021. Children’s Day Celebration Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements, in this connection Childers’s day was celebrated on 16th November 2021 at Government Primary School, Bellur. On the occasion importance of children’s day celebration, rights of children and Jawaharlal Nehru’s affection towards children’s was told to students. Books on Science/ History/etc were distributed and interacted. Visitors from Industry As a part of Patent commercialization and MOU signing, Dr. Benny Antony, Joint Managing Director and Dr. Binu, Deputy General Manager – R& D, of Arjuna Natural Pvt Ltd, Kerala visited Adichuchanagiri University on 18th November 2021. On this occasion, team visited CORMIL & CMPAT, Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Pharmacy. They have a scientific interaction with the staff members of CORMIL & CMPAT, Dr. Vedamurthy Joshi, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics and Dr. Dinesha R, Scientist / Assistant Professor, CORMIL & CMPAT, SACCP-ACU. Dr. Vedamurthy Joshi and Dr. Dinesha discussed the research projects and recent update facilities of SACCP. Dr. Benny and Dr. Binu appreciated the research work ongoing and gave valuable suggestion in the view of industries and development of products. National Pharmacy week was celebrated on the theme of Pharmacist: Integral part of health care. The event was organized by Dept. of Pharmacy Practice on 23rd -27th November 2021. In this programme, student has exhibited an exhibition on the theme of “Go green’ and followed by drawing competition. As a part of the Celebration, on 25th November 2021, a Drawing competition was conducted for the students at library on the theme "Pharmacist: Integral Part of Healthcare ". There were 9 teams from various classes. In the afternoon session, Pill Ri Reading Competition was conducted at Yuvalaya. There were 12 teams from various classes. The winners were the students of 4th B Pharm. Followed by it, in the evening cultural competition was conducted for the students at, Yuvalaya. There were 6 teams for Dance in a Circle Competition and 4 teams for Synchronized Dance Competition. October - December 2021 National Pharmacy Week Celebration
Pharma Cup 2021 Institutional Games and Sports unit have organized Pharma Cup 2021, Cricket Tournament in the view of National Pharmacy Week during 23-27th November 2021. Around 8 teams were participated in the tournament. As a part of NPW celebration on 24th November 2021, an Essay Writing Competition was conducted for the students at Yuvalaya. There were nearly 15 participants from various classes. In the afternoon session, Treasure Hunt Competition was held for the students. Nearly 15 teams were enrolled for the primary screening round, from which 5 teams were qualified for the competition. October - December 2021
Workshop Organized a workshop on the critical phases of effective research planning, scientific writing, and communication in collaboration with CORMIL, CMPAT, CRI, and AIMM on 26th November 2021. Over 207 delegates from the constituent colleges of Adichunchanagiri University and other organizations have attended this workshop. Dr. G. Jagadeesh delivered the Basic concepts of the research process, cornerstones of a research project, and essential documents of manuscript submission to an indexed journal. Prof. Balakumar Pitchai described versatile search engines and Art of scientific writing. A practical session on 'Mendeley' for referencing and GraphPad for statistical analyses was engaged by Dr. B. N. Srikumar. All the students, research scholars, post-graduates and faculty members were highly benefited from the presentations. National Pollution Control Day On the Occasion of National Pollution Control Day on 2nd December 2021, institutional Women Empowerment Cell in association with IIC and NSS unit and Rotary BG Nagara Organized the Drawing Competition on Theme “Pollution and its awareness”. Around 6 teams have participated in the competition. October - December 2021
Blood Donation Camp Students and faculties were participated and donated blood in Blood donation Camp organized by NSS unit of ACU association with SACCP on 2nd December 2021. Campus Induction Program Organized 3 days on campus induction program for the fresh entrants to B. Pharm, Pharm.D and D.Pharm courses for the academic year 2021-22 in line with UGC guidelines. The purpose of this program was to get the students acquainted with the institution culture and acclimate them to the new environment. The rationale for induction was to ensure a smooth transition for the students into the university system. Day-1- Intereactive session on "Why Pharmacy as a profession" – by Dr Prakash Goudanavar, Prof and Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutics, and "Awaken the Genius in You" – by Dr K R Vasanth Kumar, Prof. of Anaesthesiology, AIMS, BG Nagara followed by Screening and analysis of a motivational movie called "EVEREST". Through the movie, it hoped to instill in students values such as goal setting, perseverance, determination, crisis management, team spirit, leadership, adaptability to change, and failure management Day-2- Motivational intractions on "Components of Success" – by Sri. Indushankar MT - Head, Procurement technologies, Bng India and fun Games like Pill riddles and Tug of war. Day-3- Informative intractions on "Stress management-an orientation" – by Dr. Vinay HR, Associate professor, AIMS, BG Nagara and the day ended with Games - Baloon pyramid, water filling, coaster ride, musical chair, tap-tap-tap, ball in the basket, squid game, bubble straw and treasure hunt etc. A total of 150 students participated in this program which was conducted from 21st to 23rd December 2021. Star Rating Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Pharmacy secured IIC 3.0 (2020-21) Rating of 3.5 star rating out of 4 stars, in Institution Innovation Council (IIC) which is a part of Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. Total 160 pharmacy institutions from Karnataka have participated in IIC 3.0 (2020-21) out of which only 4 institutions got star ratings and Sri Adichunchanagiri College of pharmacy stood top among them. Project Expo 2021 Organised “Project Expo 2021”on 23rd December 2021 to showcase the research talents, Innovativeness, the creativity of students. Five groups of 5 students from various diciplines were participated and exhibited their projects. Priyanka K.M of M Pharm (Pharmaceutics) 3rd semester and Pavan kumar C.M, Venkatesh prasad S.N, Chandan T.S, Chandrakantha G.K of B Pharmacy 7th semester have received *consolation prizes*. Webinar on HPTLC Technique: Phytopharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals Department of Pharmacognosy, in Association with ANCHROM, Mumbai jointly organizing a webinar and live demo on “HPTLC Technique: Phytopharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals (with live demo)” on 18th November 2021. The resource person was Mr. Vishwajit Kale, Application Specialist, ANCHROM, Mumbai. Nearly 60 participants were participated in this webinar. Phytodrug candidates for Dementia Dept. of Pharmacognosy organized a guest lecture on “Potential Phytodrug candidates for targeted brain delivery to delay the onset of Dementia’. The resource person was Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Professor, and Principal, Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, Karnataka. In his presentation, he highlighted the various neurodegenerative diseases with special emphasis on Alzheimer's and associated symptoms. The various dementia conditions and their signs and progressions were in limelight. Overthought various herbal drugs and associated research was proficiently enlightened by the speaker and overall herbal targeted research was uncovered briefly in this information sharing process. More than 120 students from various disciplines and faculty members participated in the lecture and benefited with the latest information on this said topic. Mr. Vikas B student of SACCP, has been participated in Mr and Miss India Beauty Pageant competition 2021 organized by Dream Cape, Bangalore. Psychiatry and Clinical Pharmacy: A Logical Partnership Department of Pharmacy Practice, have organized a Guest Lecture on "Psychiatry and Clinical Pharmacy: A Logical Partnership" on 10th December 2021 at Yuvalaya, the Resource person was Dr. Srikanth MS, Faculty, Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, JSSAHER. The session highlighted on the role of Clinical Pharmacist in Psychiatric Patient Care and the services being offered through Ambulatory Psychiatry Care Centre (Minds Initiative).
