Encyclopedia of Me 
 

Today you are going to c​reate an E​ncyclopedia of Me​. Write at least 1 entry for each letter of 
the alphabet, retelling something special about your life.

A­Adventure 
I knew I wanted to live overseas ever since I was 15. My best friend moved to England and I 
desperately wanted to join her. I decided then and there that no matter what I did, I would 
make it my goal to live overseas. I wanted to have adventure in my life. For a long time I 
would say that when I grew up I wanted to be like Indiana Jones: teacher by 
day...archaeologist/ adventurer by night. Over the next 11 years, I studied to be an ESL 
teacher and finally was able to move to a different country.  

B­ Blood 
I have always been grossed out by blood, both mine and other peoples. I can’t look at it for 
long without feeling light­headed. I would love to have nothing to do with blood. Therefore, I 
find it ironic that I have a blood disorder where my blood doesn’t flow like it is suppose to. 
Because of this I have to make sure that my hands and feet are always warm. My blood likes 
to stop flowing to my extremities and when I have to make it go back or start flowing again, it 
hurts. So blood and I have never been friends and I think it will always make me feel queasy 
when I see it.  
 
Now it’s your turn! Your objective is to c​hoose significant (important) life experiences and 
write with well­chosen words and sensory details.​ ​Optional​: add in your own drawings or

A­ace I am an ace in my middle school.I almost attend every single activity in my middle 
school.For example,we raise flag every week.Somebody needs to host the activity.I was 
always be the volunteer to host it.And I’ve got many good scores in the exam.I also did a 

speech in the opening ceremony.  

B­bread I like bread better than bun.Bun is kind of Chinese food.It is not as soft as the 
bread.It is white.It likes the cut sphere.I like bread because it is soft and delicious.

 
 

C­China  I am a chinese.I love my country and my hometown.I like chinese food.All my 
relatives are living in China.Although the air in China is not very clean and the environment in 
China is bad.My hometown is a dirty,small and backward.But I still very miss my 
home.Especially when I am in a f​oreign country and speak a foreign language,I miss my 
home so much. 

 
 
D­dog I hate dogs.I will feel nervous when I see a dog.And the dog will bark to me.I don’t 
know why.Maybe one of my friends was bit by a dog.

 
 
E­Easy company This name appeared in a TV series.This drama called Band of brothers.I felt 
the true friendship between those soldiers.They save each other’s lives more than one 

time.They are very u​nitive.I really learnt a lot from the unitive company. 

 

 
 

F－fruits Somebody cannot live without coffee.Somebody cannot live without 
chocolate.Somebody cannot live without tea.I cannot live without fruits.I must eat many fruits 
per day.If one day there are no fruits,I will feel very bad.I will feel thirsty and cannot focus on 

study.  
  

G­games They are not video games.I still remember that I played many interesting games 
with my classmates on the my elementary school’s playground.When I was a elementary 
school student,we have a lot time to play on the playground.We created many games.We run 
and didn’t stop.For example,divide the people into two equal teams.Each team has a 
home.One people need to protect home.The others go out and fight with you “enemies”.If you 
touch your enemy first,then he cannot move.He need a teammate to save him and can join 
war again.If you are the first to touch your enemies’ home,your team will win the game.I really 
miss that period.

 
 

H­hell I want to tell you something about “hell”.That is not real hell.It is just a metaphor.Let’s 
talk about chinese education.Somebody think the educational level of China is higher than 
any countries.But if you really graduated in China,you cannot create anything useful or 
new.When you are in the high school of China,the time of the end of school is 10:00pm.There 
are still a lot homework that you need to do.You will sleep at 12 pm or 1 am.That is the 
earliest time.And you need to go to school 6:00am.It means you need to get up at 5:00am.It is 
really a hell.You only need to memorize something you don’t understand.You needn’t to take 
care of your body.

 
 
 
I－ice I like to put some ice in my drinks.That is very cool.I also like the shape of the ice.It is a 
cube.It could be very stiff.But it also can become water.No color,no taste.

J­jam I love jam because it is sweet.Strawberry jam is my “true love”.I like spreading some 
jam on a slice of bread.The bread is a little salty.If I add some sweet jam to the bread,it must 

be delicious.  
 

K­Korea It is a beautiful country,especially the Jeju island.Now I am studying at Jeju 
island,Korea.I choose study at Jeju because I hate chinese education.I hate doing so many 
workbooks.And I want to go to the college in the U.S.But I don’t want to go high school in the 
U.S.It is too far from my home.So that is why I am here.I can receive american education.I 

needn’t to go so far.  
 

L­lightning Lightning is very amazing and beautiful.It is very powerful.It can bring electricity.It 
also can destory something easily.I am a little afraid of it.However,I am very interested in it.

 
 

M­movies I like watching movies.I can learn many things from the movies.My favourite movies 
are FAST AND FURIOUS 1­7.I like them because I can know the teamwork is very 
important.Your frienda are also important.I also like the cars in the movie. The stories of the 

movie are very attractive.  
 

N­northeast I want to tell you something about my home,the northeast of China.The winter 
there is very cold.But the summer there is very hot,just like you are in a microwave.The air 
there is very dry.So the environment of the northeast of China is very bad.We have our own 
localism.But I cannot speak it very well.The people there are all very enthusiastic.

 
 
 

O­orange Orange is my favourite color.I like it because I like to eat orange.It is the mixture of 
red and yellow.I just like it,no reason.

 

P­piano I’ve learnt piano for two years.But I gave up it because the study missions in the 
middle school are too heavy.I don’t have time to practice it.I feel very regret about that 
because I really love piano.Maybe I will learn it soon.I really need to keep my mind on it if I 

want to play it well.  
 

Q­quit I quited the my middle school in China.One year ago,I’ve planned to study at Jeju 
island.iI wanted to come here because the schools here ues English to teach classes.It is 
easier to go to college in the U.S.I don’t want to study in China because it is too tired.Too 
much homework.Always have to m​emorize​ something I don’t understand.However,I very miss 

my classmates.I really miss them.  
 

R­recycling Last year,I took a around Japan with my parents.The things that really make me 
feel unbelievable are not Fuji Mountain.The recycling in the country shock me.I’ve drunk a 
bottle of water.I need to put them into trash can.I need to separate the bottle into three 
parts:bottle cup,bottle wrapper and the empty bottle.If we don’t have resource,we save 
resource and create resource.

 
 

S­swimming Swimming is my favourite sport.But at first,I am very afraid of swimming 
pool.Because l always thought that there are some monsters in the bottom of the pool.The 
water is also very cold.The pool’s color is dark blue.So I always feel uncomfortable.My dad 
always encourage me to swim.So I can swim well now.I think swimming is a good sport 

because it is very cool in the water.You won’t feel hot when you are swimming.  

 
T­ TV series My favourite TV series is Breaking Bad.I like it because the details description 
are very reasonable.The story is also very good.I can learn many thing from it.Love your 
families and don’t depend on the others etc.

 
 

U­UNO “uno” is spanish.It is my favourite card game.We call the game UNO because you 
need to say “UNO” when you only have one card in your hand.I won’t tell you how to play 
it.It’s a little complex.A foreign teacher that work in an English academy taught mr the game.I 

like the game.  
 

V­via It is an English word.First time I met the word,I felt this word is very strange.Even I didn’t 
believe it is a word.Because I never saw the word before.Then I asked my English teacher 
about the word.And she told me the meaning of the word is like “through”.For example,submit 
your essay via email.I asked her, “Why I never saw the word before?”,and she told me 
“Because your English is very bad.” Murmur,a little sad….

 
 
W­wave I like wave.I like to go to seaside.I will feel peace and quiet when I am standing on 
the beach.I also like to run with wave.I won’t let wave wet my feet.It is fun.

 
 
X­ X­ray I think it is one of the most useful inventions in the world.I want to talk about it 
because I did a biology research.When we are sharing our result,somebody gave out the 
point:X­ray is very useful to do some observation about Biology.I think it is useful to check 
humans’ bodies.It is a big impact on humans’ health.

 
 

Y­yolk I hate yolk in the egg.I know it is very nutritive,I don’t like the flavor. 
Oh,I really cannot think out anything about the word.To think out some words that begin with 

X,Y,Z are so hard.I’ve tried my best.  

 
 

Z­zebra I don’t like zebras.But I like the color of the zebras.It is very fantastic.When I am 
looking at a zebra.I think that is an art work.The comparation of the colors is very obvious.A 
white line,then a black line.It also makes me feel dizzy.
