STUDENT
ENGAGEMENT
PROGRAM

Student Guidebook 2021
Revised Edition 2.0

FOREWORD

All praises, glory and honor be unto GOD Almighty, Creator of
the universe, for by His grace alone this 2.0 edition of this Student
Engagement Guidebook could be completed.

As we all know that since the year of 2020, Student engage-
ment Program (SEP) has been implemented for student cohort 2020 and
it subsequent. It is intentionally added as graduation requirement to
achieve UPH graduates’ profile, which could only be attained when
academic activities and non-academic activities collaboratively
integrated in learning process. SEP is part of UPH’s effort to encourage
each student to be involved in learning activities inside and outside the
classroom. Thus, UPH students are expected to be developed wholisti-
cally through experience of various activities.

Compared to the 1.5 edition, This SEP Guidebook of 2.0
version, contains most of the main subjects in the previous version with
some changes and adjustments based on inputs and evaluations given
by all stakeholders along with SEP implementation throughout
2020/2021 academic year.

There are several things that are updated:

1. Procedure Schemes for earning SEP Points. In prior
edition, there are 6 Procedure Schemes. In this 2.0
version, some of those schemes are revised and updated.

1

2. Points Matrix. (a) some categories are deleted due to
irrelevancy, (b) SEP Points alteration in some activities,
(c) Some additional activities which have not been accom-

3. modated in 1.5 edition.
The Student Targets. Exceeding its prior edition, which
only for regular students of Lippo Village Campus. This
2.0 version is intended for all UPH Campuses and to all
undergraduate and applied undergraduate students
(regular classes, scholarship classes, Distance Learning
classes (PJJ), Conversion class (CC), Employee Class (KK),
and students who join UPH through the Recognition of
Prior Learning (RPL) pathway.

To adapt the future needs, this SEP are open for evaluations,
reviews, and adjustments from each stakeholder for continual improve-
ment.

May this book could become a useful guide for students to
involve and be part in SEP. Our prayer that every UPH student could be
encouraged and motivated to engage in activities inside and outside the
classroom for their competency’s development, for multiplying their
capacities and capabilities, and for personal growth that refers to the
profile of UPH graduates, for the glory of God.

INTRO-
DUCTION

”Change” is a normality and
“Development” is a sign of life. The world of
formal education today is faced with “infor-
mal education” from the virtual world that
has taught us a lot of things that are contra-
dicting to the formal education legacy,
where it has been well-maintained in the
walls of educational institutions. Today’s
generation is bombarded with information
explosions with low-credibility resources,
in which its principles are held without
going through proper filtration.  Change is
continuously on the move and development
occur hand in hand with it.

In the world of campus employee candidates, but are looking
education today, the “fruits” of value forward into those of “complete”
formation in the name of “Nowadays graduate profiles with additions of rich
era” for this generation, has arose with in knowledge, softskill and experience,
result of decreasing passion of which are achieved outside the class.

6

The Ministry of Education and Culture (KEMENDIKBUD)
through the policy of Independent Study (MERDEKA BELAJAR) and
Independent Campus (KAMPUS MERDEKA), has released various
guidance on how to increase the competency of students and graduates,
where one of them is through the LEARNING ACTIVITIES, which is an
integrative combination of academic activities (curricular) and non-aca-
demic activities (co-curricular). Previously, the government’s policy on
non-academic activities is formed by the Ministry of Research Technol-
ogy and Higher Education (KEMENRISTEKDIKTI) along with the release
of the LETTER OF ACCOMPANIMENT FOR DIPLOMA (SKPI), which
consists of the transcript record of the student’s non-academic
activities. This Letter of Accompaniment will function as a portfolio of
each student, whereas on their turn, will be today’s era employer’s
resources to see whether the university graduate is worthy to be
accepted or not in their institutions.

SEP for the first-year students is summarized in First Year
Student Engagement (FYSE), with hope that it could encourage students
to improve their soft skill competency that refers to UPH Curriculum
Framework, which acts as an umbrella to all kinds of education in the
UPH environment. In UPH, the academic activities are carried out by
the Faculties and Study Programs, the Faculty of Liberal Arts (FLA) for
equipping basic knowledge, and by academic supporting units such as
the Research Institutions and Community Service (LPPM) and the
Educational Development and Quality Assurance Institutions (LP2MP).
The Non-academic activities are developed by the Student Life Depart-
ment, Sports Department, and Career Center & Company Relation
(CCCR) of UPH,

MATRIX OF
SEP POINT

The weight of the SEP Points score is calculated based
on the multiplication of the weight of the scale (level of
activity coverage, weight of student involvement and
weight of student performance) of the chosen field of
activity.

Most of student activities could be categorized in this
SEP Points matrix. If there any activities that do not fall
into the categories listed in this SEP Student Guide-
book, Student could propose it to the SEP Administra-
tion for further steps.
