Gordon Lewis Grimes, son of the late Eunice and Harold

Grimes, was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on November 13,
1939, the third of nine children. He departed this life on July 5,
2016. He received his education at the Pine Olive School in
Wilmington, North Carolina. On November 18, 1963, he was
inducted into the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of staff
sergeant. After leaving the military, he continued to work for the
federal government from which he retired. On July 20, 1984, he was
married to his wife Moira.

Some of his favorite pastimes were bowling, watching the
daily news, working in his yard, and talking to his children and
grandchildren on the phone. Two things for which he will be
remembered are for almost always wearing a cap and for ending his
phone conversations with “Love you, Sweetie.”

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Moira Grimes;
seven children: Dorothy Moles married to Aaron Moles, and from a
previous marriage, Brynn Walters married to Robert Walters;
Brandy Olive married to Clive Olive; Shari Pridemore married to
Walt Pridemore, all of Baltimore, Md.; Andrea Curtis married to
Gus Curtis of Atlanta, Ga.; Ron Grimes of New Jersey; and Angie
Grimes of Compton, Ca.

He is also survived by six siblings: Ray Grimes of Myrtle
Beach, S.C., Lloyd Grimes of Miami, Fl.; Kelly Grimes of
Copperascove, Tx.; Frank and Carlisle Grimes both of Wilmington,
N.C. and Carrie Benton of New York. Two brothers preceded him in
death: John Henry and David Grimes. He also had nine
grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host
of other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed.
