OBITUARY
Delores Irene Harrison (affectionately called Lois or Dee) was born October 1, 1957, the seventh of seven
children born to Perry and Ollie Mae Jimerson in Los Angeles, California. She was their baby girl.
It was at a revival that Delores gave her life to Jesus and accepted Him as her Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ. She was a member of Old Ship of Zion Church under the pastorate of (the late) Reverend Cleveland
Dale. She was later baptized after moving her membership to Emmanuel Church of God in Christ. She
served under the pastorate of (the late) Superintendent LeRoy R. Mardis, Superintendent Lincoln Fuller,
and Superintendent Wilbert Jones, Jr. and now, Interim Pastor Bishop Joe L. Ealy.
She attended Sunday School, where she enjoyed reading and studying the word of God. She would often
refer to Matthew 11:28-30 and Hebrews 4:3. She served as a Nurse Assistant, an Usher, and would always
greet you with a smile, and occasionally she would make herself available to serve with the Hospitality.
She loved setting the tables and serving others. Delores had the opportunity to travel to the State Women’s
Convention in Palm Springs, California, and the National Holy Convocation in Memphis, Tennessee.
Delores attended Ascot Elementary School, George Washington Carver Jr. High, Mt. Vernon Jr. High
(Johnnie Cochran Middle School) and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She decided later to
continue her education at Southern West College, majoring in Business. She work briefly for the Los Angeles
County Assessor Office and Sunshine Home Fashions, after which she found employment as a Customer
Service Representative with Pacific Bell Telephone Company (ATT). She loved greeting people and would
go out her way to assist you.
She loved cooking, she would always be in the kitchen watching her mom and sampling the food. She view
cooking as an art, often stating her masterpiece. Her favorite dish was collard greens mixed with cabbage and
chicken enchiladas. She would always let you know that she was a meal cooker and would refer you to her
sister Annette if you wanted dessert.
Delores was a proud mom of two sons Damon Jevon Maddox and Deion Eugene Washington, whom she
instilled in them the values of life, always encouraging them to do what was right and most importantly,
she taught them to put God first. She adored her sons and always wanted the best for them and her
grandchildren.
On June 11, 2021, Delores Irene Harrison made her transition. She was preceded in death by her father,
Perry Jimerson, mother Ollie Mae Alexander, stepfather Cornelius Alexander, brother Jerry Jimerson, Sr.,
and sister Annette Logan. To cherish her precious memory she leave her two sons; Damon Jevon Maddox
(Tametria), Deion Eugene Washington (Rosy); six grandchildren, Dajuan, Cierra, Davion, Aubrey, Deion,
Jr. and Amira; brothers Roylee Jimerson of Covina, California, Melvin Jimerson and Richard Lee Jimerson,
both of Lancaster, California; sisters Evangelist Ruby Jean Burley of Compton, California, Paula Garvin
of Chicago, Illinois, and Clara Ghoston of Winona, Mississippi, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, cousins, other loving family, the Emmanuel Church family, and dear friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!

In Loving Memory of
Delores Irene Harrison
Come unto me, all ye that Afterglow For we which have believed
labour and are heavy laden, I’d like the memory of me do enter into rest, as he said,
and I will give you rest. As I have sworn in my wrath,
Take my yoke upon you, and To be a happy one if they shall enter into my
learn of me; for I am meek and I’d like to leave an afterglow rest: although the works were
lowly in heart: and ye shall find Of smiles when life is done finished from the foundation
rest unto your souls. of the world.
For my yoke is easy, and my I’d like to leave an echo
burden is light. Whispering softly down the ways Hebrews 4:3 (KJV)
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV) Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done, as
I lived a Wonderful Life
