Celebration of Life

Dr. Mother Emly C. Farmer

Emly C. Farmer was born on April 3rd, 1951 in Clinton, Mississippi to
Eunice Elner Cage. Emly was the eldest of five siblings. She was called home
to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28th during the morning hours.

The loves of her life were her two sons, Mickey and Richard Cage. Desiring to
improve her life and the life of her sons, Emly decided to move to California in 1974 to
pursue a degree in Nursing. She attended Long Beach City College where she
received a degree as a registered nurse in 1987. She later went on to earn several
degrees including her Masters and Doctorate of Philosophy in Biblical Studies
from Glendale University in 2003. She was proud to complete this milestone in
her life and she later went on to teach with great passion for the Lord at Long
Beach Bible College.

Emly’s faith in the Lord was unwavering. Her loyalty to God began at an early
age and continued until the day of her passing. As a young girl she accepted
Jesus Christ as her personal savior at Bakersgrove Missionary Baptist Church
in Jackson, Mississippi. After moving to California and recommitting her life to
Jesus Christ, she joined Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church in Long Beach
where she was a faithful member for many years. She served on the
usher board, the women’s ministry, and various other auxiliaries in the
church. She later joined Christ Second Baptist and shortly after she joined
Faith Temple in Los Angeles where she ministered for several years.

After moving to the Inland Empire to help care for her grandkids, Emly
became a member of New Direction Church of God and Christ in Rancho Cucamonga. She
served as a mother of this church which marked her final destination.

Emly had a great love for the Lord. She would minister to anyone that would cross
her path and tell them how good the Lord has been to her. Even when faced with
struggles in her life, Emly would never turn her back on the Lord. She would always
know that God had her in his favor and she would shout about this jubilation.

Emly leaves behind her two sons, Mickey and Richard Cage, her brothers Earl,
Curtis, and Elbert Cage and her sister Barbara Ann. She also leaves behind
seven grandkids; Valerie, Felicia, Anissa, Ausha, Mickey, Rachel and Richard, four
great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, her New Direction Church family and host of
friends.

The Broken Chain
We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one

The chain will link again.

God’s Garden

God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this Earth,

And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and

Lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,

He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,

He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never

Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,

And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,

For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
