COMPLETING GRADES: 9 – 12 DURATION: 16 DAYS DATES: JULY 17 – AUGUST 1 DEPARTURE: NEW YORK TUITION: $4,990 + AIRFARE

Our Shanghai Campus: In the city known as “The Pearl of the Orient,” our
home is a centrally located hotel with easy access to the waterfront walkways
of the Bund and Shanghai’s vast transportation network, connecting the tree-
lined streets of the former French Concession with the towering glass and
steel skyscrapers of the Pudong skyline. Currently the world’s largest city, with
over 24 million inhabitants, Shanghai glows with a dynamic tension between
centuries-old traditions and its current role as the center of world trade.

Seminars: Choose one seminar to follow throughout your time in China. The
city itself becomes a vast classroom to explore together with your peers and
experienced instructors. Each seminar is limited to ten students and is designed
to foster collaborative learning and true cultural engagement. Meet with
representatives of an American business in Shanghai to discuss the nuances of
the Chinese marketplace, or practice your bargaining vocabulary at the Dong
Tai Road Antique Market. Visit the studios of the M50 Art District and interview
experimental artists about pushing the limits of creative expression. On the final

Attend a photography gallery opening.

COMPLETING GRADES: 9 – 12 DURATION: 15 DAYS DATES: JULY 3 – JULY 17 DEPARTURE: NEW YORK TUITION: $4,990 + AIRFARE

Our Madrid Campus: Our campus is the Colegio Mayor Chaminade, part of
the Ciudad Universitaria, a short metro ride from the bustling Puerta del Sol
and the stately cypress trees of Retiro Park. Located in the geographical center
of Spain, high on the meseta beneath the backdrop of the craggy Guadarrama
mountain range, Madrid has long been a social and creative hub — the nerve
center that ties together Spain’s diverse regional communities. Experience the
medieval, baroque, and belle époque as you explore the city’s estates, paseos, and
sunny plazas. At night, the city is alive with tapas restaurants, the sound of
guitars pouring from flamenco tabernas, and the sleepless bright lights of theatre
and movie house marquees. Madrid, with a modern pulse and palpable sense
of tradition, is the welcoming heart of Spain.

Seminars: Choose one seminar to explore Madrid and the surrounding
area through the lens of its theme. These dynamic seminars, capped at ten
students, encourage hands-on, place-based, collaborative learning. Discuss the
visceral impact of Dalí’s surreal landscapes before setting out for the Museo
Reina Sofia, or brainstorm questions for a survey you will conduct in the Plaza
Mayor. Sketch the stunning spires of the alcázar of Segovia and watch the sun
set over the medieval walls of Toledo. Visit the avant-garde Matador to take in
a concert, play, or exhibit, or participate in a language exchange with young
Madrileños. On your final night, prepare a presentation for the entire group.
Set up a gallery of your sketches, or do a reading of a short story of Civil War-
era Madrid through the eyes of Hemingway.

Afternoons and Excursions: Afternoon activities and enrichment seminars
allow you to explore topics outside of your seminar, relax, and have fun! Enjoy a
game of soccer or basketball on campus at the Colegio Mayor with new Spanish
friends, or search for the most decadent churros con chocolate at a local chocolatería.

Our Barcelona Campus: Live in a private residence hall in the hip Raval

Barcelona is known for its unique blend of pragmatism, style, flair, and civic-
mindedness. Europe’s largest city on the Mediterranean is a cosmopolitan

lantern-lined streets of the Barrio Gótico, through the brilliant colors and joyful
