“If you can't stand the fatigue of studying, then you and I will bear the pain of
ignorance”

(Imam As-Syafie)

Education is most powerful weapon which can use to change the world
(Nelson Mandela)

From the two quotes above, we can wake up from delusion and take a grasp
about the important of the knowledge in our daily life.

Part 1: Background information

Did you know that the world now are facing with massive pandemic (Covid-19)?

On 31 December 2019, World Health Organization
(WHO) was informed of cases of pneumonia of
unknown cause in Wuhan City, China. A novel
coronavirus was identified as the cause by Chinese
authorities on 7 January 2020 and was temporarily
named “2019-nCoV”. Covid-19 has bring myriad
impact to many sides including the education
industry. Correspond to an article in the World Economic Forum (2020) more
than 1.2 billion children in 186 countries are affected by school closures due to
the pandemic.

This has sparked the idea of online learning as a new pedagogy to the tutee
while still being secured at their residence. However, this can only be
considered as a success if the recipient manage to apply this latest procedure
in distributing education. Unfortunately, they were not all students has the
obtainability of internet access especially among the middle to low income
families. Because of this commotion, students lost their motivation in learning
thus affect their quality of learning.

- Therefore, Malaysia ministry of education should realised that vulnerable
families should be supported so that they have the means to acquire the
equipment and skills that can be able to support their children in online
learning. “It is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have
access to a good education. Those who do not believe this have small
imaginations.” (Nelson Mandela).

The purpose of this scrapbook is to highlight the challenges mainly on the usage,
value, barriers of online learning as compared to traditional learning to be the
factors to influence the adoption of online learning using the new technology.

Part 2a: Personal response to the issues: Options / Reactions / Commentary /
Comparison / Cause and effects

With school has been shutted down all across the global due to the pandemic
Covid-19. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the rise of
e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.
This is the new norms of education industry. Research suggests that online
learning has been shown to increase absorption of information, and take
minimal time, and this positive changes that the Covid-19 brings might maintain
even after the Pandemic.

Eventhough it seem like this new norms of online learning brings a lot of
convenience, we must realise that not all of us is on the same boat. Some are in
prosper and happy with this new norms because they have a complete
requirement for it especially internet facilities. What about a middle or low class
family with major difficulties in currency that they can’t pay the internet bill
anymore or buy electronic equipments . Plus due to this pandemic a lot of
people loses their job which creates a huge income deduction for the families.
How would they even join their online class?

Meanwhile, on behalf of those who can afford internet might as well face
another problem which is poor or weak coverage of internet connection in their
residence especially in a newly developed area since matter of improvement
need to slow down due to pandemic. This also presents problem for students
such as not being able to enter their online classes via video calling and not
being able to download the notes, homework or assignment even if they have
an internet line.

There also another problem being faced by the students who do not really know
how to use such devices and software for their work or assignment which they
have to finish and submit on digital platform. This will slow down their progress
of work and learning since there a lot of things that they have to first learn to be
able to use the software needed. This will require an extra effort from students
and could cause dissatisfaction among students.

Parent are unable to support their child in education

According to the unicef 50 % of children came from the low to the middle
income countries were unable to read and understand a simple notes by the
end of their primary school era . Due to covid-19 outbreak this case got a lot of
attention by many people and government around the world. For everyone
safety in this covid-19 outbreak, this leads to school closure and children were
force to stay at home and a new era of online learning were introduce. In
Malaysia, they are a lot of family were affected by the covid-19. Some of them
lose their job and some of them has to force shutdown their business.

According to malaymail Malaysians who were previously working have lost
their jobs due to Covid-19. In my opinion this will also affect the education for
the kids. Parents will have a problem to provide their kids to study because they
have commit to online learning by using gadgets. Poor to them because as their
parent struggle to find money to maintain their live and also for the kids future.
Parents will lost their times to spend with their children and to teach their kids
in artificial intelligence nowadays or the parents don’t have the knowledge to
teach them . This will also lead to ‘learning poverty’. This will become more
worse if the government not to take action as the future of a country determine
by the next generation over generation by time.

Corresponded to the news from BERNAMA(2020), limited internet access
became the massive chaotic among the teachers and students. With this
circumtances, how can they get good condition of the learning. In this situation
it will lead to the lack of motivation especially among the students and thus
realize the new generation of the society becomes unknowledgable.
Furthermore, with this situation that do not been neutralize can affect our
country in the future. This is because of the successor generation for the
country was the lost generations.

In my point of view, there are numerous factors to consider while ensuring
the quality of online learning, all of which must be followed in order to ensure
that online learning is authentic to students.

Part 2B:Recommendation/ Suggestion/ Solution/ Prediction

PARENT

Problem
For students, instructors, and parents, online learning is novel, unfamiliar, and
unique. It's especially tough for students in lower grades. Parents of these young
students are more frequently required to spend the majority of their time assisting
their children in navigating platforms, assisting them with assignments, and
explaining the curriculum. This is true for working-at-home parents, but what
about children whose parents have to go to work? What can these parents do to
aid their kids? They will need to find extra time, concentration, and focus to help
their children learn and master the subjects using this online learning. Those
parents who do not have computer abilities will have more difficulties and will
need to seek assistance from family, friends, coworkers, and others. Parents and
students from underserved neighbourhoods confront additional challenges, as
many do not have the financial resources to give their children with a computer
or smartphone to use in class.

Solution
Parent and students can have positive conversations with one another. It will
assist them in cleansing their minds and maintaining a positive outlook. At the
same time parent should let their childrens to spends a lot of time with their
friends via online platform since they lack interaction each other like usual due
to this pandemic. It can bring a positive effect to their mental. For parents who
have to work to earn for living and don’t have time to spend with their childrens.
They could hire children’s caregiver for their kids. The caregivers could also
assist students in using the technology they are not familiar with and could help
them go trough online learning smoothly and easier. For the parents with
financial problem and couldn’t afford the tool for their children’s online classes
like computer, smartphones and internet. They could apply for a financial
assistance from responsible parties such as the government or schools or perhaps
at least from other family members or neighbors.

Prediction
Online learning is actually not that bad, students just have to be patient with this
norm, parents must also play their role. If all goes well, parents can expect their
child's success after struggling with this online learning. This new norm of
learning might even be considered as a success soon.

Community

Suggestion
We as a community should supported the vulnerable family that were
disadvantages to give their children gadgets and assistance due to online learning
during this pandemic. We must identify the family with low income salary and
the people who cannot support their family because they lost their job. There are
research show that over 100,000 people lost their job during these lockdown.
Many local shop and small restaurant were forced to close because they were
unable to pay the rent. The peoples with high income salary were playing the
important role in a community because they have a lot of stuff and money to give
to the needed family.

Solution
They are many ways we as a community give our support to the vulnerable
family. We could donate our money in a community to give them gadgets that
they are unable to bought for their children. Next, as a teenager in a community
that are online learning like other children they can donate their their energy and
commitment to give their assistance to teach these children to use the gadgets and
certain online application. Nowadays, many school are using google application
for example Google Meet, Google Classroom and drive. These application are
not something alien to people nowadays. Students should know how to use these
application for online learning. We must spread awareness about these issue
because its was important to make sure the world knows how delighted for the
vulnerable parent to give their children an opportunity in online learning. We can
spread this issue using our personal social media account because they are a lot
of people across the earth using and spending a lot of time in social media

Prediction
Online learning are very important for the all students because of this pandemic.
Every students should not miss this stuff because it was for their future and they
are no exception for them. Therefore, students that have given this opportunity
should not waste their chance because a lot of people in the community have
invest for these children future because the nation future determined by these
young people.

Government

Problem
The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, on the other hand, has had a significant
economic impact on Malaysia, especially among vulnerable households. In July
2020, Malaysia's official poverty line was updated, and 5.6 percent of Malaysian
households are now living in absolute poverty. The government is concentrating
its efforts on the poorest 40% of the population (dubbed "the bottom 40"). This
low-income category is nonetheless particularly vulnerable to economic shocks,
rising living costs, and mounting financial demands.

Solution
"The government's stimulus packages and short-term economic recovery strategy
have mitigated the impact of the COVID19 epidemic and cleared the way for
economic recovery," says the report. We applaud the findings and suggestions of
the World Bank's Malaysia Economic Monitor, which was just released. It gives
a thorough examination of current economic difficulties and will contribute in
our attempts to hasten the post-COVID19 economic recovery," said Dato' Sri
Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in Charge of the
Economy.

Prediction
From my point of view, I hope that this action will help the vulnerable family

and unemployed parents to gain some income for their family. In addition, the
children can buy their own electronic devices for their online learning.

Part 3: Conclusion

Shahmi:
In brief, it is obvious that this new norm of online learning bring both

beneficial impact and vice versa to society. Plus it was a drastic change because
most people did not expected the emergence of this pandemic which forced them
to limit their movement so that they had to do all the activities in their homes.
However, all members of the community must work together to face this
challenge regardless of whether it is the affected party or not. For example, for
the unaffected party and also the government, it would be good if they donate
some kind of assistance for the affected party such as equipment to allow and
facilitate their affairs to learn or have classes at home. So that not a single student
is left without a rock in the congestion of going through this crisis.

Lokman:
To sum up, education is very important for all people especially for the young

ones because the education determines their future. Due to unexpected Covid-19
pandemic that all the people in the planet have suffer, all the people facing a new
norms especially in education. All the schools have to close for our own safety
and students are force to online learning. There are no reason why the vulnerable
family cannot have proper education like the others family that are stable in
financial but also equipment. The community helps each others and our
responsibility to identify and assist them.

Akmal:
To conclude, by surfing the Internet to search about the ideas for our

scrapbook. I realized that there are many ways that we can do to overcome the
problem about the online learning especially for the students. For example,
students can participate in productive conversations. This will assist them in
cleansing their brain and maintaining a positive perspective. Next, more inquiries
should be asked, whether to their professor or their classmates in the shared
housing. Besides, the government also involved in order to overcome the issues
about the students that have issues due to the online learning. In my perspective,
online learning is still learning!! As a students, they must overcome all the
obstacles that they facing in order to get knowledge.
“Whoever takes the path of seeking knowledge, then God will make it easier for
him to go to heaven”, Hadith from The Holy prophet of Islam.
