Proudly Honoring James Hall,
Timothy Lavallee & Honor Flight Syracuse
q Our Esteemed Honorees r
James Hall & Timothy Lavallee, Eldercare Achievers
VNA Homecare Physical Therapist Timothy Lavallee believes the success of caring for
someone at home goes beyond clinical care and extends to the patient’s emotional, social
and mental well-being. With that in mind, he assisted his patient, World War II veteran
James Hall, in applying for Honor Flight Syracuse’s fifth mission in April, 2015. Upon
his acceptance, Hall chose Lavallee, himself a veteran of the Air National Guard, as his
Guardian and, together, the men embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to our Nation’s
capitol. This shared experience solidified a bond between patient and clinician that has
grown into a treasured friendship that will last a lifetime.
Honor Flight Syracuse, Eldercare Community Champion
Through their mission of honoring America’s veterans by transporting them toWashington,
D.C. to visit the national memorials dedicated to their sacrifice and service, Honor Flight
Syracuse shows our elders the respect and admiration they so deserve. The private,
not-for-profit organization is one of more than 130 regional hubs of the National Honor
Flight Network, whose current focus is veterans of World War II and any war veteran with
a terminal illness. The program has also begun outreach to Korean War and Vietnam War
veterans. Veterans may apply for an upcoming mission at HonorFlightSyracuse.org. Their
next mission will depart on April 30, 2016.
q Our Featured Entertainment r
Award winning singer/pianist Tony DeSare’s sophisticated original compositions and
unique takes on classic standards have earned him a reputation as one of the country’s
hottest young artists. According to USA Today, “DeSare belongs to a group of
neo-traditional upstarts stretching from Harry Connick Jr. to Michael Bublé and Jamie
Cullum.” His sound is romantic, swinging and sensual, but what sets him apart is his
ability to write original material that sounds fresh and contemporary, yet pays homage to
the Great American Songbook.
The Eldercare Foundation is pleased to welcome LeMoyne College’s very own a cappella
group, Fermata Nowhere. Founded in the Fall of 2009 by Stephanie Whittemore and
Luke Baker, the coed group of 16 is entirely student-run. Fermata Nowhere prides itself
on offering fun-filled performances packed with enthusiasm and showmanship.
