From the tiny to the enormous, this edition of the magazine will explain the ways in which modern technology is
transforming our world. Education now requires no face to face human contact. Today, anyone can attend an online
school, register for any class, and obtain any degree. Students have the freedom to learn at any time and location of
their choice. Professors are now able to reach more students with the same amount of flexibility. This allows education
to reach those who need it the most.

Communication is ever-changed by technology. Gone are the days where one must write and mail a letter to
communicate. From the invention of phones to PC computers and tablets, communication is immediate and available
to most people in the world. Messages are delivered at the same speed regardless of if a person is right beside you or
across the globe. Banking and paying bills has changed drastically in the last 10 years. It is now possible to never enter
a bank. All transactions can be made digitally. You can even pay your friends back digitally with applications such as
PayPal.

Even our personal lives are touched by technology. From down time to dating, there is an app for that. Families can
pause, rewind, and record live TV with just the push of a button. YouTube and Netflix provide on demand streaming of
music and shows. These applications even make suggestions to you based upon your streaming habits. Profiles and
swipes now rule the dating world. Most matches are made online using dating platforms.

In years to come, there is sure to be more revolutionary products that continue to change our lives. Technology brings
the potential for constant transformation. Who’s ready to see what’s next?

The November’ 21 issue of the BizzTalk World magazine focuses on the way technology is transforming our lives for

SOME OF THE WORKPLACE FUNCTIONS INFLUENCED BY TECHNOLOGY:

Recruitment
Recruiting the best people for a job can be a tough task. And it's not likely that the
employers will find the right talent just next door. However, cloud-based tools and
social media have duly answered this issue. Employers can now look for and engage
the right person for the job from across the horizon. The advent of social media has
also played a major role in this regard.
This has not only helped organizations to diversify their workforce but also expand
their presence globally.

Onboarding
Onboarding is the process of making the new hires familiar with their work. As such, it
requires a lot of engagement from both the employers' and employees’ ends. In large
corporations, it may not always be possible to put equal emphasis on every new
employee. However, the use of proper tools in the workplace streamlines this entire
process. Conducting on-boarding sessions online is much easier than reaching out to
every employee personally. This helps to save crucial time and resources, positively
impacting the overall productivity and standard of the workplace.

Engagement
Employee engagement has become a necessity for every modern day enterprise. The
influence of various SaaS systems similar to Vantage Circle’s employee engagement
platform suite is very notable in this regard.
Employers can now engage their employees on the go irrespective of any
geographical barriers that may exist.
With most working-class members belonging to the tech-savvy generation, engaging
them through mobile has become the only solution. Also, adopting a cloud-based
platform is now helping employers save much of their tangible resources.

Performance Management
This is one of the primary areas where the benefits of technology are clearly visible.
Gauging workplace productivity has never been much easier before the inclusion of
technology. Various performance management tools are facilitating employers to get
accurate data about their workplace activities.
Based on this information, decision-makers are now able to take the right step at the
correct time.

Workplace Surveys
Employee surveys are an integral part of modern workplaces. They provide much
indeed insights into any concerned matter and helps shape decisions. The process of
surveying and compiling data may become cumbersome in the case of a large
workforce. However, using automated survey tools makes this task much effortless.

It makes collecting data and compiling meaningful information much faster than the
conventional ways involving pen and paper.

6 www.bizztalk.world

Employee Benefits
Delivering employee benefits is a crucial part of an organization's employee
engagement practices. These benefits may include things like employee discounts,
wellness program, or rewards. These can now be easily disbursed with the help of a
cloud-based platform similar to ones' provided by Vantage Circle. Involving such a
platform lets the employees choose their benefits as per their desire. This will pave
the way towards a successful employee benefits program.

Project Management
Project Management is another core area involving the maximum use of technology.
The inclusion of such tools in the workplace simplifies the approach of managing wide
array of projects at a single time. Project management software help teams to keep a
close check on their day to day progress.

LIFE A project management tool also facilitates collaboration between teams. Thus,
maximizing productivity and lessening efforts.

OF THE FUTURE
Urban Intelligence & Big Data
AI and the “Internet of Things” are changing how
we live, and in turn, society at large. Architect
Bettina Zerza has explored how data and
intelligent systems will dramatically shape our
cities. She gives the example of micro sensors
and urban technology that will record air quality,
noise pollution and sounds capes, as well as
urban infrastructure at large. How people move,
where emissions are worst, and how efficient city
processes are represent just a few of these
ideas.

Today, 55% of the world’s population lives in
urban areas, a number that will increase to 70%
by 2050. Projections show that urbanization
could add another 2.5 billion people to urban
areas by 2050, with close to 90% of this increase
taking place in Asia and Africa. Here, AI can
further analyze and monitor how we move about
the city, work together, and unwind. In 30 years,
we will also have entirely new versions of these
modalities.

www.bizztalk.world 7

Transportation
How we move is already undergoing widespread
transformation. Transit is being re-imagined on the street
and in the air, from public transit transforming to more user-
centric mobility services, to rethinking regulatory and
organizational structures. Looking at the evolution of
transportation, there have been new innovations and shifts in
the status quo every 50 to 70 years throughout the last two
centuries. From ships and trains to automobiles and
airplanes, these advances have changed the way we
communicate trade and connect to one another.

Today, there is a lot of talk about the Hyperloop systems,
with Virgin Hyperloop One and HyperloopTT emerging as
the leading teams rethinking transportation. The implications
for 2050 are dramatic, where our current ideas and
associations of cities, geography and resources will radically
change. At the same time, companies like Uber and
Volocopter are looking to the sky to design and develop the
world's first vertiport and air taxi hubs around the world.
Trying to anticipate the future of mobility, the Third
Dimension will open up new possibilities for transit.

Construction
Construction has been one of the most challenging sectors for
artificial intelligence. British multinational infrastructure company
Balfour Beatty published their predictions for 2050 in their
Innovation Paper. The report outlines a series of conclusions:
robots will work in teams to build complex structures using
dynamic new materials, while elements of a build will self-
assemble. Drones flying overhead will scan the site, sending
instructions to robotic cranes and diggers and automated builders
with no need for human involvement. The result is a human-free
construction process, one where the role of the builder moves to
“overseer” and they are remotely managing projects.

Moreover, if people are still on site before being phased out, they
will be using robotically enhanced exoskeletons and neural-
control technology to move and control machinery and other
robots on site. These movements could eventually address the
dangers of construction and make Zero Harm a reality. However,
there are deeper ideological changes that come with human-free
building. In terms of design and an appreciation for craft, we may
begin to lose a “human touch” and the haptic qualities of
construction. It is directly tied to the very meaning of tectonics;
the science and art of construction, the activity of building, and
the resulting details and connections.

8 www.bizztalk.world

The Singularity 9
Looking to the future, especially as
far as 2050, there is a lot of
discussion about the "singularity"
moment in artificial intelligence.
The Singularity is often defined as
the point at which exponential
technological advancements cross
the threshold of “strong AI” and
machines possess a broad
intelligence that exceeds human
levels. There is a very strong
chance it will happen by 2050.

The singularity also represents a
point where human intelligence
and AI merge. Human intelligence
will undergo an extensive
integration with AI, forming a
symbiotic relationship where AIs
are empowered by human talent
for creative and lateral thinking. At
the same time, humans could be
empowered by AI’s memory and
rapid computing. The design
implications are, quite definitively,
hard to grasp. To put it another
way, we may begin to create
designs we don't yet have the
capacity to imagine.

Artificial intelligence will continue to
inspire discussions on the precarity
of work, our shared ethics, ideas
like universal basic income and
urban intelligence, as well as how
we design. More than productivity
gains, we can rethink the way we
live and how we shape the built
environment. By doing so, we can
begin to imagine new creative and
social processes, and hopefully,
work with AI to lay the foundation
for a better future.

BIGGEST CYBER STAR
ARRESTED FOR

TREASON CHARGES

Devious crimes in the cyber security industry are not any news to us. Over
decades there have been many cases which have acted as a witness to it.
Even though we consider technology to be a huge facilitator, the digital
paradox here is that it is used as a disruptor by people to fulfil their ulterior
intentions.

There have been many attacks in the history of cyber industry that shook
the entire world. Be it the devastating Logic Bomb whose aftermath was
way beyond monetary tally. It involved the Americans embedding a piece
of code to the Russians during the cold war of 1982. Once this code which
was used to control a pipeline for transporting natural gas from Siberia
was activated, it caused an explosion so strong that it could be seen even
through space.

Another such example of cybercrime is the Ransom ware WannaCry,
which brought systems from UK, US, Russia and China to their knees. As
many as 300,000 computers over 150 countries were infected by
WannaCry. Delivered as an email attachment virus, it locked up all files in
an MS Windows powered system, eventually demanding a ransom for
unlocking them. The line doesn’t end here. The LinkedIn hacking, the
case of JP and Morgan Chase & Co, all add to the list of the most
historical attacks in the cyber security industry.

Recently, another case in relation to cybercrime has been brought to light.

Ilya Sachkov, the founder of leading Russian cyber security firm, IB
Group, has been arrested by the Russian authorities on suspicion of state
treason. Founded on 1st October, 2003, this international cyber security
company, is included in the top-7 global vendors of threat intelligence by
Gartner, IDC and top-5 threat Intelligence vendors by Forrester in its
Vendor Landscape. Group IB was also named the leader of Russia’s
Threat Intelligence Security Services Market Analysis by IDC. The
company has its headquarters in Singapore. It focuses on investigating
high-tech crimes and online fraud, with a global client base that includes
banks, energy companies, telecom firms and Interpol.

10 www.bizztalk.world

The arrest of the 35-year-old founder was a result of the series of searches that were carried out by the law
enforcement officers, in the Moscow offices of the firm. Sachkov has been accused of working with unspecified foreign
intelligence services, and of treason, which hurt the country’s national interests. However, Sachkov has denied both
the allegations. The investigation in this matter is being conducted out and there has been no official statement
released yet. However, Sachkov is being held under custody for two months. If he is found guilty of treason, his
punishment can lead up to 20 years of jail-time.

There is absolutely no doubt that this move has sent shock waves in the Russian business community. Surprised by
the treason charges against Sachkov, Russia’s business ombudsman Boris Titov demanded that investigators
“explain themselves,” “given the calibres and the uniqueness of entrepreneur Sachkov for Russia’s entire IT industry.”

Criminal cases launched on treason charges are
handled by the Federal Security Service (FSB);
since the case materials contain state secrets, the
trials usually take place behind closed doors, and
lawyers are made to sign non-disclosure
agreements.

Regarding this, Boris Titov argued that keeping
public under the shadows can lead to a critical
blow in the sector and in its investment appeal.
However, Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov
has argued that Sachkov’s case “has nothing to do
with (Russia’s) business or investment climate,”
because “accusations against Sachkov are not
connected to the economy, they are connected to
treason.”

Group IB’s lawyers are currently examining the
court’s statement on Sachkov’s arrest. With the
current criminal charges against their CEO and the
ongoing circumstances of the case will result in co-
founder Dmitry Volkov taking up the position of
CEO in the near future.

Specializing in countering cyberattacks and online
fraud, and investing in high-tech crimes, Group IB
has a bucket of deals with major companies such
as Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, Megafon and Rostec.
Along with being the official partner of Interpol and
Europol, Group IB also helps Russian law
enforcement agencies uncover cases of cyber
fraud inside Russia. When Group IB was founded
by Ilya Sachkov in 2003, he was just 17 years old.
The man himself was included in the “30 under 30”
list of the Forbes magazine in 2016.

The COVID-19 pandemic has become a much-heard phrase in the recent times. In addition to the millions of lives the
deadly virus took, it affected every aspect of our environment. From shutting down factories, business firms, schools
and tourist destinations, to degrading the global economy, we witnessed it all in the past year. We saw major change
in industries around the world, when they switched to remote workforces to protect their employees. While the
transition brought with it several challenges, it also offered some unique opportunities. Many businesses took stock of
their workflows and realized that the time was best to incorporate robotic process automation to optimize their
processes. Even 2021 has been witnessing a sharp increase in RPA investments worldwide. As this trend seems to
be rising in the graph, it is important for us to understand what is RPA?

What is Robotic Process Automation?
Working on a computer isn’t new to us. We all are aware of the commonly used copy-paste buttons. Let us assume
that you hate using these repeated clicks, and you wish for a genie to come and do it for you. Well, RPA is a software
that does exactly the same for you with a little drag & drop programming.

In simple words, Robotic process automation occurs when basic tasks are automated through software or hardware
systems that function across a variety of applications, just as human workers do. The software or robot can be taught
a workflow with multiple steps and applications, such as taking received forms, sending a receipt message, checking
the form for completeness, filing the form in a folder, and updating a spreadsheet with the name of the form, the date
filed, and so on. It is basically an application of technology which uses business logic and structured inputs that aim at
automating business processes. While the use of robots isn’t new in factories and manufacturing units, but its use in
IT and other similar sectors is new, and it can help companies in producing high-volume business. To explore RPA
more, we should know that it is divided into two categories.

1. Unattended automation
Unattended automation doesn’t require someone to be at their computer. Instead, unattended bots do the work by
themselves recording and playing back actions. Because they can use triggers and schedule automated events,
they’re ideal for accelerating the automation of high-volume tasks across your organisation.

2. Attended automation
Attended automation allows you to focus on more high-value work across your organisation. It does this by
automating repetitive, manual, front-office activities and mimics actions you perform on your desktop or browser, like
mouse clicks, by recording and playing back these actions in real time.

IoT in

Agricultural

Industry

If we assess the landscape today in the agricultural industry, we’ll face some pretty strong facts. For starters,
the world population will reach an approximate of 9 billion by 2050, and yet there is only 4% of the earth’s
surface, which is available for farming. Not only is this, but the current global agricultural system, currently
being pressurized to increase the food supply by 8 billion in 2023. At this rate, it is expected to surpass 10
billion people in the next 40 years. This gives us an immediate call to maximize our food production. Well, the
good news is that technology has spread its wings in the Agri-driven sectors too, due to which farmers and
agronomists can leverage AI-driven solutions to improve their crop yield and drive the business value.

Precision agriculture, satellite farming, or specific crop management, is a farming management system based
on the use of modern technologies which observes, measures, and responds to inter and intra-field variability
in crops at every stage of work. Farming is a very visual task, it’s about using your eyes and thinking how a
farmer would assess the situation based on his experience and based on that, assess what they should do.
This is where we can enable data and technology to step in and navigate the decisions at hand, based on
insights which are provided by the data.

Even though population explosion remains the prime reason to introduce AI in agriculture, the advent of
COVID-19 has too made the agricultural landscape vulnerable and made us question the sustainability of
global food demands. How can we solve it? The answer is simple, we need to achieve efficiency; generating
more with less. The agricultural industry needs to make the public aware of the world’s requirement towards an
improved stewardship of the global environment, which includes air, soil, water and climate. In agriculture, such
stewardship refers to sustainable practices that are nature-positive or regenerative, no depleting and non-
destructive to the ecosystem.

With the help of IoT, we can convert the conventional agricultural industry into a nature-positive precision
agriculture. Using technological advancements, we can have proper applications that can reduce crop risk,
improve crop production yields and preserves resources better than before.

1. Agricultural organisations which are focused on outdoor farming can apply IoT technology to optimise their
production using automation in many ways. Such as using equipment which are networked with wireless
communications and has GPS capabilities and can precisely and accurately control where seeds are
planted. This practice is called variable-rate seeding. Studies have shown that variable-rate seeding
significantly improves crop yield per acre and improves planting efficiency by minimizing seed waste.

14 www.bizztalk.world

2. Another use of IoT can be done by electronic mapping. An agricultural space combined with historical
data from soil sensors, drone cameras and mobile farm equipment GPS to inform seasonal crop selection
and rotation. Weather and real-time soil sensor data also inform water management. Farms can use
multiple methods for watering -- but research has shown that precision water delivery, such as automated
trickle or subsurface methods, works best. Precision water delivery reduces evaporation, improves soil
moisture content and delivers water most effectively in response to real-time weather conditions.

Farmers can also use data from sensors in the ground to develop a model of soil fertility in reaction to
different crops and conditions over time. The said model can include fertilizers and soil bacteria
management for improved nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium uptake, which helps in maintaining the
soil’s health.

The use of automation is advantageous over manual equipment, as it optimizes fuel use, which reduces
greenhouse gas emissions. Fuel optimization is essential because fossil fuel still powers the majority of
farm equipment. Some automated tractors can manage the engine's rpm to most effectively work the field
-- even with changing slopes and rougher terrain -- further improving fuel efficiency.

3. Automated drones and sensing equipment can monitor crops in real time, using available data to help
identify changing conditions for the supply chain. Software with AI-based monitoring of drone footage can
positively identify pests and disease, reducing crop risk and helping to inform a fast response. Agricultural
organizations can use data analytics from visual drone data and other farming equipment cameras to
assess production in terms of growth rate, estimated wet weight, dry weight and other data critical to
improving the efficiency of downstream distribution chains.

4. Unlike traditional greenhouses that rely on the sun for energy, modern indoor farming uses IoT
technology to produce agriculture at a fraction of the space and resources used by conventional outdoor
methods. Indoor farms use artificial light from LEDs for lighting optimization and precise photoperiod
control, a practice that can ensure a crop gets the right colour spectrum of light and the right amount of
light in a day at the right intensity to maximize crop yield over short time periods.

With the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the use of advanced analytics by farmers, the
global precision farming market size is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of
13.1% from 2021 to 2028. The market size stood at a value of USD 6.00 billion in 2020. Though outbreak
of COVID-19 adversely affected the precision farming market with several manufacturing units across
China, India, European countries, Japan, and the U.S. being temporarily shut down, the North American
market still had the largest market share.

In developing countries like India, Precision Farming has numerous opportunities for farmers to identify
better high yielding location specific crops. Precision Agriculture may provide a platform for industrial
corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity by helping the rural poor to improve their livelihood through
high-tech farming. The government of India can facilitate in this process by giving soft loans to the
industry so that they get encouraged and engaged themselves in agriculture and PA activities. With an
efficient PA, it can also help in bringing next green revolution in India.

Women in Cybersecurity

When pandemic struck the entire world, virtual workspaces/rooms became our only measure to stay
connected to people. Court hearings, teachings, other businesses, everyone turned to virtual reality to back
their declining performance.

Now, consider the word, Cybercrime. We all are well aware of what it is, and how it works. Simply put,
cybercrime are the criminal activities carried out by the means of internet or computer. Since pandemic,
cybercrime has been on a rise, which makes it absolutely clear why the demand for cyber-related talent has
gone up. If we consider the statistics, a 25% increase has been witnessed in demand for talent in cyber-
space, since the onset of COVID-19. India’s leading human resources Company, TeamLease services, even
said in a report, that by the end of 2025, India will have acquainted 1.5 million people in cybersecurity.

Owing to this immediate need, organizations are scrambling to fill in their vacancies, but there’s a big piece
that’s missing the pie: Women.

In 2013, research conducted by Frost and Sullivan, an American business consulting firm said that women
represented just 11 percent of the worldwide cybersecurity workforce. Even though the research was limited
in terms of job positions or types of cybersecurity, the result was still shockingly low. Again in 2019, a
research article from cybercrime magazine concluded that, women made up approximately 20 percent of the
global infosec payrolls. Even though there was an improvement, the contribution was still less. TeamLease
Services co-founder and executive VP, Rituparna Chakraborty even said, that India too has an absolute
shortage of women in the cybersecurity industry. They predicted that at this rate, the contribution of women
in the sector’s workforce will be 11% by 2025.

18 www.bizztalk.world

On a bigger picture, it isn’t just cybersecurity which lacks women participation. Professions in
the STEM category, namely,

Science
Technology
Engineering
Mathematics
are suffering from lack of women participation in their ranks, even after decades of equal
gender initiatives. There is a stereotype that men suit well in careers related to the STEM
industry, despite the fact that women score better in math or any science-related tests. Looking
at this trend, it does offer some optimism that young women are overlooking these stereotypes
in careers. But still, it will take a long time to overcome this vast gap. It isn’t just these
stereotypes, pulling the women gap. Under recognized achievements and unfair pay, makes it
difficult to alleviate the problem.

Before we move on to how we can bridge this gap, we need to understand why this shortfall
exists.

1. The topic of gender bias takes us back to the early decades, when educated employers
were against bringing women to the job environment, with an aim to enlighten only men, who
belonged to the same age.
2. Studies even suggested that young women often have a preconception about the world,
even before graduating high-school. Even though the media and government have been
positive in encouraging them, teenage girls still form opinions which result them in limiting their
career choices. Addition of parental influence and societal norms also add in taking teenage
girls away from technical professions. A data even proved that women themselves view
careers like cybersecurity requiring a more accomplished background, hence more suitable for
men.
3. Media has an important role in influencing this thinking process. Representations of high-
intense war room type atmospheres and shady guys wearing hoodies, creates a negative
image in people’s minds.
4. Another reason which makes women less attracted to this field is the industry’s own
terminology. Words such as “cyberattacks” are often related to military war zones, making
them imagine it is a military room of some sort. Even though some areas of cybersecurity, such
as ethical hacking do give off such energy, still, not every aspect works in such environment.
5. There are even evidences that even if women join cybersecurity industry, they’re bound to
leave it soon. The prime reason for this, being the intensity of this field and the “boys club”
atmosphere they have to endure.

The pool of STEM professions is surely male-dominated. One cannot expect this gap to shrink
overnight. Now the question arises, how can we increase women contribution in cybersecurity?
As we are now aware of the stark reality, regarding women’s participation in cyber industry, the
solution is simple, we need to attract more women in this sector. Even though much is being
done, which has finally started to alter this situation, we need to work more and also increase
our pace. We need to adjust of behavioral shortcomings, work on the procedures and
initiatives, to fully diminish the shortage in cybersecurity workforce.

www.bizztalk.world 19

1. Beginning in the workplace itself, cybersecurity companies need to amend their
internal policies to create a more female-friendlier environment. Companies can create
a diverse policy for working, not just focusing on gender but ethnicity and backgrounds
too. CobaltSecurity Services, a security services agency working in Ventura and Los
Angeles counties, once conducted a survey where they asked the respondents “what
brings women to cybersecurity, and what makes them stay?” One of the respondents
spoke,“A team that integrates diversity of all kinds – disciplines, genders, backgrounds,
ethnicities, etc. – ensures fresh perspectives, prompting innovation and creativity.”

2. The same survey also concluded that 50% of the employed women belonged to
fields of IT and computer science. This clearly implies that hiring managers or human
resource departments are focused on sticking on their conventional pool. Hence, HRD
and other hiring managers need to focus on different backgrounds when looking for
new employees. They can even look at fields such as compliance, auditing,
psychology, and sales where women have found success in cybersecurity.

3. Earlier we mentioned, women are more prone to leave cybersecurity industry, no
sooner they join it. Therefore, companies should focus on retaining their employees.
Owing to the shortage in cybersecurity, this aspect has become too critical. Companies
should focus on fostering more inclusive work environments, for attaining a consistent
satisfaction from employees, particularly women and minorities.Organizations must also
train employees about what true inclusiveness is all about, and make sure that
everyone knows about it.
Their goal should not be just about eliminating sexual harassment at workplace, but
also to make women feel comfortable and respected.

4. There are now several professional organizations in cybersecurity that serve just the
needs of women and aims to promote them at workplace. Some of these are, Women’s
Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC)- Founded in 2012, the WSC is a Northern Virginia-based
non-profit organization. It is focused on empowering women to succeed in the
cybersecurity industry. Their mission is to advance women in cybersecurity careers by
providing programs and partnerships that promote networking, education, training,
mentoring, resource-sharing and other professional opportunities.

Women in Cyber Security (WiCyS)- it is a non-profit organization founded in 2012
through a National Science Foundation grant to Tennessee Tech University, and
dedicated to the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in the cybersecurity
field. This brainchild of Dr. Ambareen Siraj, works to improve diversity and pipeline in
the cybersecurity workforce.
Executive Women’s Forum on Information Security, Risk Management and Security
(EWF)- founded in 2002, the Executive Women's Forum works forinspiring leaders,
transforming organizations and building businesses through education, leadership
development and moreover, creating trusted relationships. The EWF is the largest
member organization which serves emerging leaders as well as the most prominent
and influential female executives in the Information Security, Risk Management and
Privacy industries.

20 www.bizztalk.world

www.bizztalk.world These organisations have annual conventions, where they gather
members together to discuss women’s issues in cybersecurity, along
with other topics which influence this industry. They aim to provide a
positive role for women, helping to make them feel included and
supported by other women.

5. Apart from this, career counselling and placement efforts should be
made must for colleges and schools. Organisations should introduce
cybersecurity as a desirable career option for students while opting
for their undergraduate or graduate majors.
6. Promoting and providing access to industry training and
certifications would also offer students a leg up in finding their way
into cybersecurity. It will even provide the industry members a more
forward way, to speak with students about this field. Special
emphasis should be laid on interacting with teenage women in high-
school, to expose them to cybersecurity, and careers related to it.
7. Many programs have also been initiated to introduce cybersecurity
to women. For example, the US Air Force Association’s National
Youth Cyber Education Programme, the GirlsGoCyberStart and the
GirlsWhoCode.
8. Providing scholarship grants can also help in increasing enrolment
in the cybersecurity boot camps. For example, the US Navy’s
Information Assurance Scholarship Program, which is for both
women and men. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education, a 2011
founded organisation also offers a $40,000 scholarship for women
studying for either a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a
cybersecurity field.

A person in the cyber field is not new to the names of Window
Snyder, Lesley Carhart, Niloofar Howe and the list goes on. These
are some of the renowned women in the cybersecurity industry.
Learing from them, we can surely overcome the obstacles to
success.

To conclude we can say, there has always been a shortage of female
participants in cybersecurity sector. But due to the dramatic increase
in cybercrimes, the demand for cybersecurity has increased, which in
return has shed more light to this vast gap. Though we know that the
gap cannot be deflated in just a snap, but there is saying “a journey
of a thousand miles, begins, with a simple step.” For us that step is to
find new avenues to recruit females to the workforce, amend our
working environments, lay stress on retaining female employees, and
most importantly, change the conventional thinking of females and
young girls that cybersecurity is not just limited to a particular gender.
It stretches to every ethnicity, background, colour and gender.

Introduced in July 2016, 5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks,
which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019. They are the successors to the 4G
networks which provide connectivity to most current cell phones. Today we hear a lot of devices claiming
them to be 5G ready. But what is 5G? How does it work? And mostly importantly what parameters define
it.

The constant buzz regarding 5G has made some people believe that it will bring to life the sci-fi experience
and will enable the working of the Internet of Things (IOT) to its full potential, by bringing to reality the
concept of connected homes, office spaces, vehicles, and more. But to know about this more, we need to
understand the three basic parameters of 5G which have created a much-awaited hype. These are,

volume of data can be transferred every second.
Latency rate- The total time taken for a piece of information to move from one location to another is
regarded as its latency rate. Two simple concepts which explain this concept are, voice lag during
internet calls and skipped frame rates during online gaming sessions. These mainly occur due to high
latency rate, which causes a delay in the exchange of information. This is calculated in milliseconds. A
lower latency rate translates into a faster connection speed.
Throughput- Throughput is a network's capacity to handle active connections simultaneously. What
we call ‘network congestion’, basically is the result of a network getting overloaded beyond its
throughput limit. It determines the rate of successful message delivery over a communication channel.

Now, let’s understand what 5G is. Just like its predecessors 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G; 5G too, offers a
completely different spectrum of the network ensuring that it can connect to everyone and bring forth all
the devices, and machines together. The previous generations of the mobile networks were
1. First Generation (1G): the first-ever implementation of the mobile network with the delivery of analog
voice. These telecommunications standards were introduced in the 1980s and continued until being
replaced by 2G digital telecommunications.
2. Second Generation (2G): 2G brought the introduction of digital voice. 2G network allowed for much
greater penetration intensity. They enabled various mobile phone networks to provide the services such as
text messages, picture messages and MMS (multi-media messages).
3. Third Generation (3G): The implementation and mass usage of mobile data occurred when 3G was
announced. The introduction of 3G was an upgrade for 2.5G GPRS and 2.75G EDGE networks, enabling
faster data transfer.
4. Fourth Generation (4G): An enhancement to the era of mobile broadbands, even though it is not as
fast as 5G, it does offer a significant speed improvement over legacy 3G networks.

Let us now move on to 5G. Currently, there are two types of globally accepted 5G networks – non-
standalone and standalone.

The non-standalone (NSA) deployment model of 5G NR (new radio) is where 5G services are
delivered through a combination of 5G and 4G networks. NSA requires an existing 4G LTE (Long
Term Evolution) infrastructure to enable 5G connectivity, which means having to rely on some parts of
the 4G LTE network to connect 5G devices. It is a cost-effective option as it allows mobile operators
with existing 4G LTE networks to basically “sweat their assets” and launch 5G quickly without investing
in an end-to-end 5G network.

www.bizztalk.world 29

The standalone 5G is an independent 5G network deployment model that allows mobile operators to
launch a full end-to-end 5G New Radio - NR network. The standalone model, SA, can deliver the
futuristic use cases of 5G that require more than just high-speed data. Standalone 5G can support
higher frequency bands to deliver ultra-low latency. It can also support lower frequency bands, e.g.,
600 MHz and 700 MHz, to connect billions of low-powered devices. Standalone 5G enables massive
machine type communication (mMTC) and ultra-reliable low latency communication (uRLLC) use
cases, including self-driving cars, smart cities, and many other B2B use cases in the manufacturing
industry.

5G helps in offering flexibility for forwarding compatibility, which means it, can support devices in the distant
future that are completely unknown today.

Enhanced Mobile Broadband: Not only in smartphones, but 5G enables new opportunities for both
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. With its faster, uniform data rates, users can expect a lower
latency along with reduced cost-per-bit.
Mission-Critical Communities: 5G can offer new services that can completely revolutionize the
industry with its super reliable, always available, and stable network. This can benefit the remote
operations of critical infrastructure, vehicles as well as any medical procedures.
Massive IoT: 5G has the capabilities to seamlessly connect with a large number of embedded sensors.
This again can be beneficial over scaling down the cost of data rates along with better mobility and
power. With such lower connectivity costs, enterprises can mass-produce IoT devices.

Speaking about the 5G race in India, the development hasn’t been too positive. 4G still remains to be
dominant in the nation. According to a statistic, 4G availability has grown in India as the 4G service metric
recorded an increase from 93.5 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020 to 96 per cent in the second quarter
of 2021. The median download speed increased from 10.64 Mbps in the first quarter of 2020, to 15.67
Mbps in the second quarter of 2021. It is highly possible that in the coming years too, 4G will continue to
play a significant role in the market. To incorporate 5G in their telecom, companies have started their trial
series. For instance, Airtel conducted India’s first cloud-gaming session in a 5G environment, which the
company claimed was successful. Airtel also successfully demonstrated 5G services over a live 4G
network in Hyderabad, marking an industry first. Apart from this, Jio also started its 5G trials in Mumbai
using its indigenously developed equipment. Furthermore; the Standing Committee on Information
Technology was informed that 5G will roll out in India to some extent for specific uses by 2022 as 4G is
expected to continue in India for at least another 5-6 years.

It is no news to us, that 5G networks are best known for their high-speed network. For a better
understanding, just imagine that, with a 5G network, you would be able to download a 2 hours movie within
10 seconds as compared to 7 minutes for 4G, while at the same time considering factors such as location,
network traffic, which determine the download speed. To use this network, users will require having a 5G
enabled consumer devices to reap the benefits of 5G. Already major smartphone manufacturers including
Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and OnePlus have released their 5G devices.

With the entrance of 5G our lives will be impacted in many ways. The technology will be able to support the
remote control of critical services. It will advance autonomous driving, the Internet of things, personal
communications, and the way our businesses work in terms of accessing, storing, sharing and protecting
data. It will impact AI and augmented reality, the two most promising technologies available for mobile
developers.

A trip to the future of business in the

Written By

The metaverse: the latest buzzword that has not only taken technology companies by storm, but every business
out there. While we’re yet to see how will the new “phygital” era change the world as we know it today (a term so
new that my Word file marks it as a misspell as I write this article), one can begin to anticipate some changes in
our business context. Let’s take a mental trip to the future and imagine where this takes us.

A new chapter in consumer behavior
Call me old, but I’ve witnessed the world before social media. The digital age
has not only enabled us business owners to better understand and track
consumer behavior, it has also actively participated in altering it. Now, imagine
a virtual world where consumers get to create their own aspirations of where
they want to be, how they want to look like and have power over every detail of
their experience. This means new possibilities, shifted interests and completely
new journeys that finally arrive at your product or service. One that will entail a
completely new approach in product development and communication funnels.

A golden era for experiential e-tail
Brands have been relentless in creating experiential retail in their traditional
stores. Similarly, e-commerce has been reliant on data science to create
efficient shopping journeys for consumers. What if you can get the best of both
worlds? Imagine a fully sensual store experience where consumers get to
touch, see, and interact, with the agility to instantly customize into their data-
driven preferences and needs. Perhaps a facial recognition AI that can detect
their level of interest in a category and assort display accordingly or even meet
them with a promoter avatar that appeals to their specific persona.

Consumers will no longer consume content, they will live it
Communication strategists will need to re-think their narrative in 3 dimensions.
Brand messaging will become highly contextual with sophisticated consumer
targeting. Brands will not only get to build-connection with their consumers, but
actively blend-in with them creating immersive brand experiences.

These are just some of the business dynamics that will possibly be transformed
by the arrival of the metaverse, with the evolution of the technology,
implications on manufacturing and business management practices are on the
horizon as well.

How do you think the metaverse will impact your business?

QUANTUM
COMPUTING

FIELD

Quantum computing, the term sounds mythical and is almost full of science fiction. The technical definition of
quantum computing is that it is a type of computation that harnesses the collective properties of quantum
states, such as superposition(the notion that tiny objects can exist in multiple places or states
simultaneously),interference (the situation where intervention from noise in the environment damages the
quantum object)and entanglement(a physical phenomenon that occurs when a group of particles are
generated, interact, or share spatial proximity in a way such that the quantum state of each particle of the
group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, including when the particles are separated
by a large distance), to perform calculations.

Binary encoding of data is fundamental to computing, with bits comprising zeroes or ones represented
electrically as “on” or “off” states. Quantum computing reimagines that approach, replacing bits with qubits that
can simultaneously manifest multiple states as they are generally defined in classical physics. Quantum
systems that represent data using qubits and quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement
potentially enable computing at unprecedented levelsof massive parallelism.

34 www.bizztalk.world

There is no doubt, that the concept of quantum computing is too difficult for some of us to 35
understand which leads us to the most important question, that why do we need it? Even
though we are aware of its potential, does this mean that in coming years, we’ll be able to do
everything from forecasting weather to sending emails with a giant speed and power leap?
Well, the answer to those is still no, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of story. Just like
quantum computing itself is complex, the answer to these questions is more complex.

The advent of digital transformation and disruptive technologies has introduced several races
such as AI race, Quantum race, 5G race, AI Chip race and many more. We are at a critical
stage, that shows the competition among countries for the quantum race. Allocating millions
of dollars as the allocated budget for various quantum projects, making up policies with the
help of government, signing partnerships with companies, are some of the approaches which
countries have been adopting to discover the full potential of quantum computing.
Let us go through the top countries in the quantum race that are competing against each
other to boost productivity as well as discover the unapproachable problems at first through
quantum computing.

1. CHINA
The Government of China aims to become the first nation which finishes the AI race as well
as the quantum computing race. China has named quantum informatics a key aim in its 13th
five-year plan and the Made in China 2025 plan. It is the first country to build a quantum
science satellite known as Micius as well as a quantum network that connects Beijing and
Shanghai reaching 4,600 km. it is the world’s first integrated quantum communication
network, combining over 700 optical fibers on the ground with two ground-to-satellite links to
achieve quantum key distribution over a total distance of 4,600 kilometres for users across
the country. The team which made this network was led by Jianwei Pan, Yuao Chen,
Chengzhi Peng from the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei. Apart from
this, China is also focused on developing the world’s first-ever largest quantum laboratory.

China is one of the top countries with quantum technology through multiple R&D projects and
over 3,000 patents. The Government of China has allocated a budget of US$10 billion for the
Chinese Academy of Sciences Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum
Physics, the Quantum Experiments at Space Scale, National Quantum Laboratory, as well
as the Beijing-Shanghai Quantum Secure Communication Backbone. In 2021, China
announced that there is an increase in R&D investment by more than 7% per year.

2. GERMANY
To gain speed in the quantum race, the Government of Germany has allocated US$2.4
billion to collaborate with research institutions, industry, government agencies, and the
community. The partnership of Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute with IBM has surely secured a
place in the quantum race for Germany. The cooperation deal between the two, has allowed
IBM to place one of its Q System One quantum computers in Germany to become a hub for
quantum computing research. The IBM Q System One is a 20-qubit quantum computer that
will be owned by IBM and located at one of its facilities in Germany, will allow access to
European researchers for their future studies. The deal is expected to develop a
concentration of quantum skills in Germany covering academia, research, IT professionals
and industry users.

centers to boost the productivity of quantum computing. Additionally, five quantum computing centers under
the Department of Energy are funded with a US$625 million project along with US$340 million worth of help
from multiple tech giants such as IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and many more. These allocated funds came out of
US$1.2 billion from the National Quantum Initiative Act.

5. INDIA
The Government of India allocated Rs. 8,000 crores for the National Mission on Quantum Technologies and
Applications in the Union Budget 2020. Being a developing country, India is gradually becoming a part of the
quantum race against the highly developed countries with quantum technology. The Quantum Measurement
and Control Lab in TIFR is the only established experimental group in India focusing on quantum computing.
The aim of India is to build a 50-qubit quantum computer within five years. The researchers have released 100
global international journal publications on quantum computing. IBM also partnered with some of the top Indian
educational institutes to offer complete access to quantum computing systems. India has also announced its
quantum computing partnership with Finland between IISER and Aalto University. This digital partnership has
certainly created a high probability for India to get its first quantum computer. This digital collaboration will
witness the two countries collaborating on quantum technologies and computing. Hence, the partnership will
have the leverage to deploy the latest technologies available with both countries.

6. JAPAN
When IBM and Tokyo University disclosed the first leading-edge quantum computer of Japan for commercial
applications, Japan became a tough competitor in the quantum race. Japan's most powerful quantum
computer was a part of their ongoing collaboration to advance Japan's exploration of quantum science,
business and education. The IBM Quantum System One allowed for researchers at both scientific institutions
