Brown v. Board of Education

It was a court case because segregated
schools for children were
unconstitutional. This was one of the of
the major movements in in civil rights.

State Flag

The State flag was changed to the
confederate flag due to them trying to
be racist. It changed due to court case
of Brown v. Board of education

Sibley Commision

The court case of Brown v. Board of
Education was happening at the
commission. The governor had to pick
between the two options

Martin Luther King Jr.

He was one of the most important
leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He
led the March on Washington which
was a great step toward achieving his
goal

John Lewis

John Lewis was one of the few to stand
next to M.L.K. and see his famous
speech. He still lives today and is still
known for his actions

SCLC

This group was created by M.L.K. and
others to lead movements. Many of
these in the group were people like
Andrew Young

SNCC

This was created by a group of African
American teenagers in school. They
also led and went to movements.

March on Washington

This is the place that M.L.K. Said his “ I
Have A Speech”. This was also another
step to equality

Albany Movement

This movement wasn’t as successful as
others but still had an effect. This
Movement still encouraged others to do
the same

Lester Maddox

He was known as a racist due to his
discrimination against Blacks. He was
so racist that he even closed his store
due to that fact

The Civil Rights Of 1961

In 1961 Many freedom rides were
happening as ways to show equality.
Like other movements they were only
using nonviolent actions to show that
they aren't violent.

Maynard Jackson

He had a major role to the development
of Atlanta that he even had his name
added to the airport. He was known to
help develop and help the airport.

Andrew Young

He was one of the people in the S.C.L.C.
he was an executive in the Group. He
was known as a pastor.

Jimmy Carter

He was one of the best mayors due to
him expanding the roads. He has roads
named after him to show how much he
did
