Samuel Douglas McDonald was born January 16, 1948 in Los
Angeles, California to John and Willie Belle McDonald who both
preceded him in death. He was the eldest child to this union.
Samuel accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. His
formal education was in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Upon graduating from Jordan High School in 1966, he enlisted
into the United States Navy. His tour of duty took him overseas
and to many different countries. This experience of war made this
young man grow up in a hurry and forever impacted his life.
After serving his country, Samuel returned home to Los Angeles
where he found employment with the Southern California Gas
Company. He later worked with the Aerospace Industry. Sam was
an intelligent guy who loved th medical field. He decided to return
to school where he earned a certificate in Nursing and Radiology
which landed him jobs in Radiology at Martin Luther King
Hospital as an X-Ray Technician and an EMT worker.
Sam was a special man with a loving heart. He befriended lots of
people. He never wanted to see anyone homeless and often shared
his place with different ones to keep them off the streets. He met
and married the love of his life Minnie McFarland who preceded
him in death.
Samuel suddenly passed away on September 27, 2014. He will
be missed by many. He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters:
Tricia Ewell, Mignon McDonald, and Mary Dyer; brothers: Gerald
Randle and Eric Randle; stepson, Eric Allen; brother-in-law, Milton
Johnson; niece, Nicole Williams; nephew, Michael Dyer; and a host
of other relatives and friends.
