The Halachic letter dealing with deep matters
of the laws of a loan in Choshen Mishpat
and additional monetary laws was edited
and written by Moron the Maharsham to the
Gaon Rabbi Moshe Sofer, the young Rav of
Erlau author of 'Yad Moshe' [the son of the Holy
Gaon Rabbi Shimon Sofer author of Hitorerus
HaTeshuva of Erlau and the father of the Holy
Admor the Imrei Sofer of Erlau] and at its
beginning, the Maharsham kindly writes to the gradnson Moron the Chasam
Sofer: Since I received his letter and due to the countless packages of letters, I
could not find a moment of peace to reply and today I have made the time for his
honorable father my friend the Gaon Shalita and his honorable fathers...
In the body of the letter, Moron the Maharsham mentions his great Sefer 'Mishpat
Shalom'.
At the end of the letter, several lines, the Maharsham's favorite grandson and
editor of his writings the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Yisrael Feldman, Motz in Brezan
and author of the Sefer 'Likutei Maharami' and 'Shem Yisrael': "Will receive the
reply of the Holy Gaon Rabbi ... for the honor of his father's family he has
hastened to reply..."

The year of 1949 was the one
and only year in which the
holy Rav Rabbi Aharon of
Belz stayed in Tel Aviv on
Sukkos and Simchas Torah.
In that special year, a special
delegation of the most
important worshippers of
the Shtibel suggested that
the Tzaddik of Belz conduct
the Hakafos and holy
Avodah with this important
and pedigreed Sefer Torah.
The Rabbi confirmed with
his pure eyes that indeed
this Sefer Torah was truly
attributed to the holy Rav
Rabbi Simcha Bunim of
Pershischa and indeed, the
Sefer was close to Aron
HaKodesh during the entire
Hakafos.
Size: 42 lines written in
small excellent script. 18
cm. the height of the vellum,
including the margins. The
height of the entire Sefer
Torah is 33 cm. The lower
Atzei Chaim are missing.
The Sefer is not sold as
Kosher; however, expert
Sofrei Setam noted that
is can easily be repaired.
Repairing and proofreading
the Sefer will render it
Kosher for reading.

A most pedigreed Sefer Torah that had belonged to the holy Rav Rabbi
Simcha Bunim of Pershischa and was kept at Beis HaChassidim of the Gur
Chassidim on Fireberg St. in Tel Aviv. Beis HaChassidim Shtibel 'Achad
HaAm-Fireberg' has been standing for nearly a century and is where great
rabbis and important Chassidim had prayed.
The Sefer Torah was donated in 1941 by the Rabbinic the Chassid the
Naggid R. Sholom Shachneh ben R. David Halevi, who had inherited the
Sefer generation after generation up to the renowned holy Rav Rabbi
Bunim Simcha of Pershischa.
The holy Rav the Beis Yisroel of Gur, when he came to Tel Aviv,
was also called up to the reading of this pedigreed
Sefer Torah.

On this leaf, the holy Rav Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska wrote two sermons for the two days of Rosh Hashana. The
sermon for the first day of Rosh Hashana appearing here was printed in "Drush Hashem LeRosh Hashana"
(Hayashar Vehatov, 1, leaf 6). However, the sermon for the second day of Rosh Hashana appearing here has
not been printed, except for the [3] lines at its beginning, which were printed (Hayashar Vehatov, 1, leaf 2).
The holy Rav rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska [1808-1874] author of 'Ach Pri Tevuah' and 'Hayashar Vehatov'.
One of the greatest Tzaddikim of Hungary, a leading disciple of holy Rav the 'Yismach Moshe' of Ujhely
(Sátoraljaújhely), and a disciple of the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Ruzhin, the holy Rav Rabbi Meir of
Premishlan, the holy Rav the Sar-Shalom of Belz, and the holy Rav the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.
Thousands of Chassidim from all over Hungary came to him for blessings and advice. In his days the
Chassidus of Liska was most important and renowned in Hungary.
His holy Gabai and Meshamesh Bakodesh, who grew up on his knees from the age of 12 years until 28 years,
was Rabbi Yeshaye'le Kerestir, who used to sign:

the leading disciple of Maran the holy Rav Rabbi
Yechiel Michl of Zlotchov, on which he wrote
Kavanos HaArizal from the Sefer 'Pri Etz Chaim'
by Rabbi Chaim Vital. 1776.
The manuscript contains Kavanos for Sha'ar Kerias
Shema, the eighth Sha'ar which he copied in his fine holy handwriting.
64 lines handwritten by him. Many blemishes to the margins of the manuscript and part of the 2-3 lower
lines is missing.
The holy Rav Rabbi Yissachar Dov Ber was a childhood friend and cousin of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of
Berditchev, whom he befriended when they lived together in Lobratov. Rabbi Yissachar Ber and Rabbi
Levi Yitzchak were married to the cousins of the Peretz family of Lobratov (who were descendants of
the exile of Spain). Rabbi Yissachar Ber married the daughter of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Peretz and Rabbi Levi
Yitzchak married the daughter of Rabbi Yisroel Peretz of Lobratov. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and his friend
Rabbi Yissachar Ber got close to Chassidus following their relative Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Peretz (the author
of "Beis Peretz").

‫להריח טבק מקופסתו‪ .‬כנראה שמשום כבוד הצדיק ואביו ונוכחות‬
‫הקהל לא ההין לסרב ולקח באצבעותיו קמצוץ טבק והריחו‪ .‬ויהי‬
‫כאשר אך הריח קצת מריחו הטוב של הטבק נהפך ונהיה לאיש‬
‫אחר ורגשות חרטה החלו לפעפע בו‪ ,‬עד שביקש שיביאו לו את‬
‫התפילין שקנה לו אביו כשנכנס לעול המצוות‪ ,‬שכבר זמן רב לא‬
‫הניחם‪ .‬מאותו יום שב בתשובה שלימה עד שנעשה בעל תשובה‬

‫גמור והתנהג כיהודי כשר לכל דבר‪.‬‬
‫ברשות הרה"ק ה'אהבת ישראל' מוויזניץ הייתה קופסת הטבק‬
‫המיוחסת מהרה"ק רבי מרדכי מנעשכיז והיא עמדה לפניו בכל‬
‫תפילות הימים הנוראים‪ .‬גם אצל בנו הרה"ק האמרי חיים הייתה‬
‫הקופסא מונחת כל תפילות הימים הנוראים ומפעם בפעם הריחו‬
‫בה‪ .‬האהבת ישראל התבטא‪ :‬אני מריח מהקופסא יותר מאשר‬

not even keeping Shabbat and the like. The holy Rav advised him to
bring his son to him, and then he will see what he can do. When the
son arrived home his father asked him to come with him this one
time to the synagogue. The son agreed to his request and went with
his father. When at the synagogue, the father showed the holy Rav of
Czchów his son, when the holy Rav saw him he ran towards him and
offered him to smell from his tobacco box. It seems that for the honor
of the Sage and his father he did not decline and took a pinch with
his fingers and smelled the tobacco. And so it was that after smelling
but a little of the good smell of the tobacco he became a different
person and feelings of remorse overcame him until he requested the
Tefillin his father had bought for him by his Bar Mitzva, which he
has not put on for a very long time. From that day he fully repented
and became a complete Baal Teshuva and a proper Jew.
The holy Rav the 'Ahavas Yisroel' of Vizhnitz possessed the exclusive
tobacco box of the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechei of and he kept it before
him during the prayers on Yamim Noraim. His son the holy Rav
the "Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz also had the tobacco box before him
during all the prayers on the Yamim Noraim and from time to time
he smelled from it. The Ahavas Yisroel said: "I smell more than the
tobacco…"

and his mother Mers. Beila, a descendant of the Sanz
