PLANTING NEW

Pastor Edward Lapane

Being in the leadership of the church was a good experience for me, however
being at the helm of a congregation took things to a new level. Pastoring a church
has changed my prayer life, how I read the word , how I reason and how I give
my offering. lt was during a winter season in SA when the Phelindaba campus
was launched in someone’s garage on 25 June 2017, in Atteridgeville.

Moving from the Arcadia campus felt like one has been abandoned and
evicted from a comfortable home and left out to fend for oneself in the street.
Looking back, we bear witness that God had a bigger plan beyond what
our natural eyes could see. Nine months later we moved to a new venue
at 110 Seeiso Street, Oustad in Atteridgeville, and the level of growth that
we experienced since then has left us in awe. Now I understand the true
meaning of the word of God in the book of Zechariah 4:10 “… do not despise
the days of small beginnings ,the Lord rejoices when things begin…”.

Pastor Basani Makhubela

Church planting is an excellent way of advancing the kingdom of God
through multiplication, in line with the book of Genesis 1: 28. It gives us the
opportunity to launch into the deep, enabling the gospel to reach and conquer
territories beyond our imaginations, fulfilling the scripture (Matthew 28:18-
20). My prayer life changed dramatically through church planting, I have a
greater understanding, appreciation and patience for people who show up
for church services on Sunday. This is in line with the book of John 6: 44.

Having the experience of leading cells helped me to deal with
most of the challenges that comes with church planting, such as
fostering teamwork for fruitfulness. My greatest learning so far is
moving beyond one’s frustrations and acknowledging that things
may not always work out the way you planned; but realising that
tomorrow has a greater promise as the word of God teaches us in book of Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers, I do
not consider myself yet to have laid hold of it, but one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward
what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.”

planting new churches

Pastor Pulane Molefe

The planting of the new churches has enabled ECC to
touch lives that the church would have never reached. Being
appointed to pastor the new campus in the North marked the
manifestation of changing of levels in my life. Though daunting
at the onset, I have learnt to embrace the opportunity given to
me by my parents in the Lord, to serve alongside them in the
kingdom and touch the lives of others through the gospel of
Jesus Christ. It is a good, humbling experience for me and I
am learning to walk closer to God. My level of intimacy with the
Lord continues to grow. Doing ministry work has enabled me
to meet new people and be at places that I never knew about
before. It is a fulfilling experience and I would not change it for
any other thing. I believe in my heart that I was born for this.

My situation looked hopeless. I was staying
with my cousin Lesego in Soshanguve and
was faithfully accompanying him to the ECC
21 days of prayer and fasting at the North
campus. I was desperate and we continued
to pray even at home. My application status
did not change and I was starting to lose
hope. Eventually I decided to go back home
in Polokwane, and informed my cousin about
my decision. I was crushed. My intention
was to leave on Saturday. On Friday my
cousin called me from work asking for my
details as he wanted to check my application
status one more time. He called back in
five minutes to say TUT has accepted my
application, and NSFAS has settled the bill in
full. They told him that classed were starting
the following Monday, and I had to report at
the campus. This was one of the greatest
breakthroughs in my life up to this point. Our
