BRIEF THANKS TO CHEMISTRY TEACHERS,
PARENTS & FRIENDS
Assalamualaikum and posperous slam for everyone.
We as group 2 would like to express our appreciation to our teachers, parents and friends.
Without the presence of you guys, we would not be able to complete and submit this PBL report.
First of all, thank you PN ARINA BINTI ABDUL RASHID for teaching us chapter 8 FORM 4 KSSM . With
your knowledge that you had shared with us. We could understand what is Alloy and its importance.
With the knowledge and information we had, we were able to complete this report.
Move to the next persons, our parents. Thank you for understanding us by giving us some space and
our own time to complete this assignment. Thanks again for the support and idea for us to make the
model.
Furthermore, our groupmate and classmate. Big thanks and big applause to this groupmembers.
Thank you Qamarina for making the model of this project. And not to forget to Atira who edited the
video patiently. Next, Natasya for making the folio. We divided our work project and finished it by the
time given. We ere able to form a teamwork by understanding each other advantages and flows
during completing this project.
Last but not least, thank you everyone for giving us a hand in completing this
project. We prayed that god will bless all of us. Ameen.

INTRODUCTION
We are required to gather information and design
multimedia presentation about the properties,
examples and comparison of composite materials
with their constituent materials.
We must created an object made of composite
material using various substances such as egg trays,
cotton wool, plastic or paper, example Wyre-
reinforced paper Mache. This object should combine
at least two constituent materials like metals, glass,
ceramics, alloys and others.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
1. Understand and appreciate the importance of
composite materials in daily life.
2. Reduce the burden of waste by creating composite
materials using recycled materials.
3. Create a creative product of composite materials as
a solution to problems in everyday life.
procedures
1. The materials and apparatus are prepared
2. The box is cut according to the suitable mini shelf.
3. The top and bottom of the box is folded.
4. The closet door is measured with 14cm.
5. The closet door is cut
6. The A4 paper is pasted on the box
7. The mini shelf is painted.
precautions
1. Careful when handling
superglue onto the box .
2. Be careful while cutting the
box with scissors to prevent
injury.
3. Make sure there is an adult
supervision when cuntting
the box.

DISCUSSION
Concrete is an example
of composite material
that has been used since
ancient times
Questions:
1. State the definition of composite
materials.
2. Is concrete suitable to be used to
build the pillars of buildings?
Explain.
3. Explain how concrete may be
reinforced
4. State two uses of reinforced
concrete
ANSWERS
Composite materials is the combination of two or
more non-homogenous materials (matrix and
strengthening substances) that has different
physical properties from the original materials.
Yes, concrete has a high compressive strength
which can be placed upon it with heavy loads
without breaking or showing any sign of fatigue.
Concrete can stable under high temperature or high
thermal resistance. This is causing that it could
withstand with the hot weather from melting .It is
versatile and can be formed into almost any shape
required for construction. Concrete is expensive
and mouldable into various shapes. Therefore,
concrete can be produced in large volumes. Lastly,
concrete is durable and able to withstand a stronger
force.
Concrete on its own, does not make a good
structural. It can crack if it is bent or stretched. To
help it is not to bend, steel reinforcement is put
inside it. Steel is strong and won't bend, but can be
brittle. By forming concrete around steel
reinforcement bars, it is much stronger. The steel is
arranged inside it, protected from rust and fire by
the concrete, and the two materials act together to
carry loads.
ANSWERS
Reinforced concrete is used for
construction on a large scale, such
as bridges, dams, piers, tall buildings
and stadiums. Reinforced concrete,
also can be placed into various
shapes of shuttering of formwork
confrigurations to form desired
shapes, form, surface, tenxture and
sizes at construction site.
CONCLUSION
Matrix substances such as paper also
can produced composite material to
make it stronger
BUDGET / COST ESTIMATION
A4 paper = RM 4.20
Super glue = RM 4.50
Water colour = RM 11.00
TOTAL COST = RM 19.70
