Comprising six faculties namely Commerce and Management Studies, Computing and Technology, Humanities, Medicine, Science, and Social Sciences, the university offers a comprehensive educational experience. This envisioned realm, now known as the metaverse, develops by fusing the prefix "meta," which means beyond, with the word "verse," which originated from the word universe. The metaverse is currently emerging and reshaping the global landscape, presenting multi-trillion-dollar opportunities for businesses. One of the primary opportunities that businesses receive from this virtual realm or metaverse is to develop immersive experiences that go beyond the boundaries of reality. By using virtual reality and augmented reality, organizations are able to develop interactive environments where customers will be able to explore products, participate in virtual events, or engage with brands in innovative ways. r. Kisal Ekanayake, who served as the President of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya during the tenure of 2022-2023, is an individual of remarkable character and unwavering passion. His essence shone brightly during an interview held, revealing one who is deeply rooted in strong values and principles. One of Mr. Kisal's most notable traits is his propensity to listen attentively before speaking which is a quality he extends even further in the corporate arena where he chooses his words with utmost care. Given his experience as a Past President of the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, he was the perfect individual to get insights about volunteering and how the club has helped to shape his life. He mentioned that volunteering gives a sense of purpose, especially to undergraduates who go through many transitions. Through serving the society and through the interactions with our own fellow Rotaractors, people will get to know the concept of diversity better and it will create a generation of people who respect various opinions which in turn will influence others to be better people with a strong sense of morality. He further emphasized on the fact that through volunteering one can meet like-minded individuals. They might have different aspirations, but due to a common purpose and similar skills, when people come together, a greater change can be achieved for the betterment of the society. Of course, when speaking of volunteering the challenges faced during volunteering must be addressed, as these two topics go hand in hand. According to Mr. Kisal, the biggest challenge during his time was the limited access to resources, specifically monetary and financial. Next up, prioritizing and choosing what's more important than the other was also quite difficult, he stated. Since different people have different ideas and what one person finds crucial another might not find it so. He also stressed the matter of managing external expectations such as keeping the

To get a general idea, he is currently employed as a Financial Analyst at Aberdeen Holdings for over one and a half years. Now that he has stepped into the corporate world, when inquired about how he deals with it, he pointed out that one cannot slow down, especially in the early years. He also said that it is important to complete your professional and academic education without getting distracted. Another lesson he learned in his journey is the significance of soft skills. A person’s curriculum vitae is their first opportunity to make a positive first impression. Thus, very good attention to detail must be paid. Then comes the interview. It is necessary for the interviewee to know exactly what to say and when to say it. Further, appearance and attitude must be paid attention to as well. In his closing remarks, Mr. Kisal expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and over 500 members for their unwavering support throughout his term. He emphasized that their collective efforts were indispensable to the Career Fair 2024 49 lecturers, academic staff, government officers and even our own Rotaractors content. At times it may seem difficult but a solid ground must be maintained. Another predominant challenge he faced, which is still present to this day, is the need for quick results but still having to maintain sustainability. That is no easy task, as those two aspects are quite contradictory. Hence, that garners a proper strategy and a well thought out plan which in itself is a challenge. Since the challenges were addressed, it is only right that the past president advises us on how to overcome them. First and foremost, he finds that communication is the key to solving the problem. When an issue arose, he had always discussed it with the Executive Committee, the Directors and the related members, since overcoming a challenge is a collaborative action and through brainstorming together they were able to resolve most of the conflicts. Secondly, he said that certain issues are unpredictable and inevitable. Therefore, it is important that a person goes with their gut and follows their instincts. In the worst-case scenario where an issue is truly unsalvageable, he advised to choose loss minimization, since at that point that is what takes first priority. A couple of events which made that year's Career Fair quite special are that it was the first Career Fair programme after the COVID 19 pandemic and it was also done virtually. The results were uncertain in the beginning yet the success of the event proved it otherwise. When questioned about the Career Fair and the importance of it, he exclaimed that this programme provides the first glimpse for most of the undergraduates for what the corporate world truly is and they are exposed to a society which functions in a formal manner.
